Bariss: "The only thing the Jedi order believes in is violence!" Also Bariss: *casually bombs the Jedi temple, killing many people and then trying to kill Anakin*
Yes but she got drawn to this the same reason why those Anti-Clone faction helped bombed the Temple to begin with Barris like Ahsoka witnessed the hypocrisy of the War and the Jedi’s part in the War In truth the CIS isn’t evil, only it’s leadership is. The common Separatist member wishes to secede from a corrupt Republic and start over in a Confederacy that promises a Government where businessmen or politicians doesn’t have too much power In reality the CIS leadership is dominated by businessmen and Sith Lords, that run this sham Independent movement to help Palpatine become Emperor, and run all sort of corrupt and illegal activity that publicly brutalize the CIS as a whole In hindsight the CIS, outside their leadership didn’t wish to bring harm to the Republic, simply secede and coexist The Republic didn’t fight the CIS, because they run slavery or have an army that threaten them. They simply threaten their Sovereignty, while threatening with the existence of a Droid Army The Clone Wars in some ways was a War of ideals between those who remain Loyal to the Republic and those that want to Secede and start over. Not unlike the RL Cold War ideals between Capitalism and Communism Half the time, the CIS truly did commit War Crimes. But that was under the command of the true dark leaders of the movement, with aid of Droid Armies under their control The Republic had their fair share of offenses For Barris, she witnessed Jedi who were supposed to be Guardians of peace and become super solders blindly following orders of a corrupt Senate. The worlds they “liberate” ultimately become occupied under Republic control, setting the stage of future Imperial Worlds Barris saw the truth that the Jedi were unknowing serving the Dark Side. Helping to expand the Republic borders, helping Palpatine become more powerful. Ultimately helping the Republic transform into an Empire before it became one officially Barris knew no one would listen to her through normal means. So she helped Anti-Clone Radicals bomb the Jedi Temple out of protest, to try spread her message in a dark way, that the War was wrong, and the Jedi through their apathy are responsible for it Her methods was wrong, she clearly gave into the Dark Side at that point. But she was right in her motive and point of view.
@@christophersanchez7731 if she really wanted to spread the message after bombing she herself would have surrender to republic and given her message, but she framed ashoka for it which dosen't make any sense, if she is not giving the message that need to be given then what is point of bombing, and again she could have destroyed ships without clones and humans in it to give the message, why killing them at all

I love that when Barriss pulls out Ventress’s sabers, Anakin says “you should have gotten rid of them!” Like, he’s disappointed she kept the evidence 😂
If her new found position was an actual protest, she didn't need those sabers and had every reason to get rid of them. Her keeping them means her thoughts on the jedi weren't really much more than her simply being seduced by the darkside. This arc shows that, just because a villain has a point, they are not in the right. Despite having a noble motive, Barris has clearly succumbed to the dark side. First she kills a bunch of innocent people, frames her friend, says that Ventress' red lighrsabers "suit her" and then, despite having the opportunity to flee after kicking Anakin from that height, still chooses to come down and fight him.
Sounding like a model Jedi, warping things to come up with excuses to genocide any force using group that isn't yours. Me being a wiseass aside, you're taking a few things out of context. Bariss didn't "succumb to the dark side" or else her eyes would be yellow. They're very much blue here. Bariss 's mentality isn't that of a sith, but more of an anti-jedi. Generally fluctuating anywhere from chaotic good to lawful neutral in the way she acts, since her entire goal is essentially reforming the Jedi order since the Jedi have long lost sight of what they're supposed to stand for. So for Bariss to say that the red sabers suit her is more of aking the lines of Ashoka's "I'm no Jedi" line from rebels. But Bariss knew from the start that if she didn't try to deal with Anakin, he'd come after her since guy is literally the Jedi version of Eren-fucking- Jaeger with how dogged and driven he is.
@@wholesome_masochist4113Dooku's eyes were almost always normal, too. Much like Barris, he did what he did because he was dissatisfied with the Jedi order, yet still lost his way. You don't have to be a Sith to succumb to the dark side either.
@@wholesome_masochist4113 The means to the end and the catastrophic consequences of that pursuit IS succumbing to the dark side. In fact that's the central lesson Star Wars teaches about the Dark Side: it is seductive, appears to be the easy path, often paved with good intentions, and only when you are knee-deep in it do you realize that you've succumbed to it without even realizing it. Dooku, the Sith Lord Darth Tyranus, is absolutely succumbed to the Dark Side with the murder of SIfo-Dyas and Yaddle. In regards, Barriss, if bombing the Jedi Temple, killing innocents, murdering her co-conspirator, and framing two individuals (one a friend, and the other Ventress) who weren't involved isn't succumbing to the Dark Side, I don't know what is. It’s insane how Vader-esque his approach here actually is. Formally addresses the issue & unhesitatingly activates his lightsaber because he’s 99% certain that Barris is guilty. Rash, but dominant. Throughout the fight, he’s trying to subdue until he gives in to his rage and uses his physicality to overpower a weaker opponent: peak Vader moment. The way he speaks & approaches the situation in this clip has HEAVY Vader vibes and you have to appreciate that as it shows you that Vader’s always been caged inside Anakin, they’re not 2 separate beings - they had always been one and the same till Anakin fully embraced his inner darkness.
No. People always forget that he wasn't born naturally. He was literally born from the force itself. Whilst you are correct in that they are one in the same, Anakin never had darkness, perse. It was more the force willing a complete overhaul in balance. The Jedi had become too arrogant. The Sith had also become too dangerous. Both needed to be stopped, hence his birth. That's why it's also a Shakespearean story. His path to the dark side and then making his way back to the lightside at the end all. Once he came back, and on his deathbed, Vader and Anakin had truly become one. Both sides of him truly understood their fate in life.
I'm pretty sure that somebody powerful enough in the force, especially somebody like Anakin, could probably sense the darkness in the crystals. Just like how most Jedi can sense the dark side in sith artifacts, the two bleeding kyber crystals probably put out some subtle dark side energy that at least some powerful Jedi can sense. He walked into that room and, assuming my theory is correct, knew she at least had two lightsabers with bled crystals in the only place you can actually hide something in that room.
they know their reputation precedes them and that, aside from Anakin, Ahsoka, and the Council's Jedi Masters, they could kick the @$$ of just about anyone in the order XD
Anakin could have beaten all of them. However I think it was clearly aimed at the girl wielding the two red lightsabers, especially considering she’s the one who broke a window clearly trying to escape the situation.
@@DoctorWhoKage The Wookiepedia says she was born around 40 BBY(I didint knew that, shes some years older than Ahsoka, what explains why she was so wise-looking around Ahsoka), and by that, i think she was 19-20 by the time of this episode(which may be happening around the second year of the Clone Wars), and Anakin was about 20-21(He was about 1 year older than her). Considering that Anakin was 10 years old when he joined the Order, and Barriss was probably like the other normal Jedi and joined around 3-4 years old, she had more training than Anakin(What explains why she could hold on the fight against him) as a Jedi. But Anakin was the chosen one by that time.
I love how Anakin was fighting more defensive and calm to start with. But when he got close to the younglings, his fighting style became aggressive and each hit was like chopping a 3ft tall child in half.
Throughout the entire episode Anakin HATES Barris for framing Ahsoka, but throughout the entire trial rant scene, his expression changes from contempt towards her to a more concerned realisation. A realisation that Barris thought of the Jedi the exact same way Anakin has come to think of them, and at the end of the rant, he gently holds her back as if telling her that it's enough, unable to hate her anymore. Because deep down he understands her points. I feel like this and Ahsoka leaving the order for feeling betrayed by the Council, was what fully cemented his actions in Episode 3. Clone Wars was one of a kind.
I also wonder about the old Jedi instructor and the padawans... like moments later "so kids... what did we learn from Master Skywalker's demonstration today"?
Barriss: The only thing the Jedi Council believes in is violence!" Anakin: "And I'm not the Council." Also Anakin: *peacefully ignites second lightsaber with murderous intent*
I love how this type of duels show Anakin's true mastery with only one saber, when he was using two, they were fairly equal, even to the point that Barris managed to destroy one of them, but as soon as Anakin was back at using just one, he managed to overwhelm her and got her clearly scared.
Seriously tho we have seen the younglings use the force before to construct their lightsabers, if they all worked together they could have apprehended her on the roof
i love how the animators really showed barris's facial reaction as soon as she feels overwhelmed when anakin became more aggressive. really points the fact of how even anakin had a very scary aura once he doesnt hold back
Always admired how Anakin had an excellent offense, and then I realized why. He spent his entire life sparring the galaxies best practitioner of the defensive style of lightsaber combat. Anything but a perfect offense wouldn’t keep up with Obi Wan. It’s poetic, even.
Yeah Obi Wan uses Form 3 (Soresu) Anakin uses form 5 (Djem So). Which is a lightsaber form that focuses on raw strength and overpowering your opponent. Which funnily enough was created by Form 3 Masters during the old republic.
It's actually so cool you can see the clear difference between Anakin's light side fighting style and dark side fighting style. When he's in tune with the light side his strikes are to disable and he switches actively between defense and offense. When he's channeling his emotions for power (darkside) you notice almost instantly he start to do quick and decisive strikes, nothing too complicated, just raw power, smashing over and over again so quickly you have no choice but to just defend, you can't turn the tables, obviously highly risky but the Vader fighting style is just so overpowering. I love these little details.
Anakin was never a light Jedi. He fell when he killed those Tuskans in episode 2. He just did a good job of disguising his true nature from everyone else.
@@simdae1 He had started on the path, he didn't turn then and there and still had quite a strong connection to the light side. If there was a decisive moment he turned it was when he chose to strike down Mace Windu.
Here after the Tales of the Empire trailer and it's so friggin ironic that Anakin put her in jail and yet, as Vader, wants to train her to be an inquisitor.
I love the subtle hints the show gives us like Palpatine addressing Anakin as " Master Skywalker " making him trust him more and only him as he is the only one who " appreciates " and respects him properly
I think Palpatine was happy with how this case ended like I believe it was nothing more then a test to see how Anakin would handle a complex murder mystery which he aced and this helped prepare him yo5 track down Jedi as Darth Vader
I would imagine it did him no harm to flatter Anakin especially since no matter how this turned out his faith in the Jedi would be further shaken and possibly broken. This was one circumstance where he stood to gain regardless of the outcome and the funny thing is that he didn't even need to instigate it.
Actually other Jedi did occasionally call him master Skywalker as well. I think even Plo Koon did once. This makes it all the more baffling that they wouldn’t just give him the rank of master, since he was already essentially unofficially recognized as such by many fellow Jedi. It played right into Palpatine’s hands as it turned out.
*"This republic is failing... an army serving the Darkside...."* Order 66 happens, Kenobi and Yoda sneak back to the Jedi Temple. Kenobi: Since we are here, you want to bust Barriss out of jail, since she was right all along? Yoda: Nope. Salty, I still am.
I like how when palpatine was sentencing Ahsoka he sounds like his false self BC he wants Ahsoka gone so Anakin feels alone. When Barriss confessed he said “take her away” with such contempt because he knows Ahsoka would still be an anchor for Anakin to the light. Imagine the look on his face when he found out that Ahsoka was not only leaving the Jedi but also abandoning Anakin by her own volition. Anakin was practically gift wrapped for him.
Palpatine: "Yes! I can make Tarkin pressure the council into kicking Ahsoka out so that Anakin hates them!" Palpatine: "Fuck, Anakin found the real culprit." Palpatine: "Yes! Tano left the order! Now Anakin is emotionally vulnerable!" Palpatine: "Fuck, now Vader hates Tarkin."
I honestly love the fact that even though Anakin clearly didn't trust Ventress in this arc, given how many times they had crossed sabers during the war, he also gave her the benefit of the doubt and followed up on the lead that she had provided. The way he also so subtly calls out Bariss in her quarters, not only in taking her saber moments after walking in and acting like he's just inspecting it, but even in his line of questioning. He's completely calm, makes it seem as though Barriss isn't in any trouble, just wanting to get to the bottom of everything, and even just the way he raises his eyebrow when Barriss basically matches up perfectly to what Ahsoka and Ventress had told him. I loved the way he got his read on her without giving anything away until he forced her hand.

But instead he saw her run for the window and he knew the peaceful option was off the table. For those of you wondering why Anakin wasn't granted the rank of Master by the council is quite simple. To earn that rank, you have to train your Padawan to the rank of Jedi Knight. Since Ahsoka left the order as a Padawan, Anakin didn't meet the requirements. All Younglings and Padawans called Jedi Knights and above "Masters" as they were quite literally their teachers, it was a sign of respect. My favorite part of this is when Anakin switches to a more Vader style of combat, he starts attacking from above, using higher power strikes, not moving around as much, and (I think) subconsciously doing what Vader always by using the force to “get in her head” and cause her to doubt herself and fear him, you can kind of see it in her eyes

She... didn't. When she gets chucked in the hallway, she takes a second to assess her options. Re-engage Anakin in a fight or attempt to make a break for it. She chooses the latter, because she knows she can't take him. He forced the fight on her. She attempted to run away and only fought back because he kept catching up to her.
Can we just take a minute to admire Anakin in this arc? While everyone is convinced that Ahsoka is a murderer, he is being a detective and working his ass off to find the true culprit and succeeded Edit: ALMOST everyone as Rex, Padmé, Obi-Wan, Plo and Yoda also believed in Ahsoka’s innocence and even though he DID find the true culprit, she still left the order
Anakin is, what, 21-22 at the time? A 21yo, war veteran or not, isn't nearly as mature enough to be a part of what is essentially the board of directors of such an organization.
“An army fighting for the dark side.” “We have so lost our way, that we have become villains in this conflict.” Funny how she makes these statements against the Jedi order, as if her joining the inquisitorius isn’t EXACTLY what she just described.
I love how Anakin casually picks up Bariss's lightsaber at the start. A sign of domination over Bariss and how he didn't come to her room for a casual talk, but an interrogation, hence he disarmed her from the start.
I think it was the fact that Ventress said the perpetrator had her lightsabers. By taking her own lightsaber, it forces Barriss to use Ventress’s sabers, thus truly revealing her as the criminal. He was using that move as a smart tactic rather than intimidation.

"Ironic" - Sheev Palpatine

Barris like Ahsoka witnessed the hypocrisy of the War and the Jedi’s part in the War
In truth the CIS isn’t evil, only it’s leadership is. The common Separatist member wishes to secede from a corrupt Republic and start over in a Confederacy that promises a Government where businessmen or politicians doesn’t have too much power
In reality the CIS leadership is dominated by businessmen and Sith Lords, that run this sham Independent movement to help Palpatine become Emperor, and run all sort of corrupt and illegal activity that publicly brutalize the CIS as a whole
In hindsight the CIS, outside their leadership didn’t wish to bring harm to the Republic, simply secede and coexist
The Republic didn’t fight the CIS, because they run slavery or have an army that threaten them. They simply threaten their Sovereignty, while threatening with the existence of a Droid Army
The Clone Wars in some ways was a War of ideals between those who remain Loyal to the Republic and those that want to Secede and start over. Not unlike the RL Cold War ideals between Capitalism and Communism
Half the time, the CIS truly did commit War Crimes. But that was under the command of the true dark leaders of the movement, with aid of Droid Armies under their control
The Republic had their fair share of offenses
For Barris, she witnessed Jedi who were supposed to be Guardians of peace and become super solders blindly following orders of a corrupt Senate. The worlds they “liberate” ultimately become occupied under Republic control, setting the stage of future Imperial Worlds
Barris saw the truth that the Jedi were unknowing serving the Dark Side. Helping to expand the Republic borders, helping Palpatine become more powerful. Ultimately helping the Republic transform into an Empire before it became one officially
Barris knew no one would listen to her through normal means. So she helped Anti-Clone Radicals bomb the Jedi Temple out of protest, to try spread her message in a dark way, that the War was wrong, and the Jedi through their apathy are responsible for it
Her methods was wrong, she clearly gave into the Dark Side at that point. But she was right in her motive and point of view.

The means to the end and the catastrophic consequences of that pursuit IS succumbing to the dark side.

99% certain she’s guilty? She used the lightsabers of a Sith to try to kill him, not much more guilty you can get from there
@@Birb56 he was 99% sure before she activated her sabers. Them being Ventress’ sabers only solidified his theory and added that 1%

This was one circumstance where he stood to gain regardless of the outcome and the funny thing is that he didn't even need to instigate it.
no, he was grooming him
Actually other Jedi did occasionally call him master Skywalker as well. I think even Plo Koon did once. This makes it all the more baffling that they wouldn’t just give him the rank of master, since he was already essentially unofficially recognized as such by many fellow Jedi. For those of you wondering why Anakin wasn't granted the rank of Master by the council is quite simple. To earn that rank, you have to train your Padawan to the rank of Jedi Knight. Since Ahsoka left the order as a Padawan, Anakin didn't meet the requirements.
