  • Astro Colony is out on Early Access NOW, and has been seeing some massive updates over the past few months. Let's dive into this amazing factory game!
    Explore endless Universe and create the most efficient constellation of colonies. Build conveyor systems to automate production. Take care of Astronauts and their needs! Establish new colonies as part of intergalactic simulation.
    Astro Colony is a game by Terad Games, and expected to be released in Q3 2022. It is currently in beta.
    Please note that although I was provided free access to the beta by the developers, there were no strings attached - My opinions are my own.

    This video was immensely helpful. I just started playing literally yesterday, I actually didn't realize you can build so far out from initial base...nor that once you hook up to a "planet" it comes with you as you travel...pretty fun game, tide me over till Satisfactory launches.

    23:54 Hoe krijg je de spullen vanuit die grote opslagplaats na de automatische vangers in de andere grote opslagplaatsen daar beneden bij de constructors etc. ? Gebruik je hier transport bots voor?

    • @TheDutchActuary
      @TheDutchActuary  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In this playthrough I opted to transport the materials manually into the production chains where they were needed. Partially because bots were a bit buggy at the time, but also because this allows you to prioritize the production chains you need the most of (the bots don't let you do that).

    Im really struggling to figure out how to get my colonists to do stuff. The won’t sleep or go to school and sometimes they won’t even eat. What am I doing wrong?

    • @TheDutchActuary
      @TheDutchActuary  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's odd! Can they actually reach the sleeping pods/food and research station? I have had zero issues with this myself. Studying is pretty much instant once you queue a specialization up, assume they aren't eating/sleeping. The basic needs take care of themselves as long as you have food & the required buildings.

      @@TheDutchActuary thanks for the reply. I never really figured out what the problem was, but part of it was there were robots standing in the way. I rebuilt and removed a few things until they started moving and I haven’t had any problems since. The things I moved were not in the way I just had to mess around with it until I found an arrangement that didn’t offend them I guess. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    One idea would be to build the colony ON the asteroid,mining and all, and then just turn your base platform into a spaseship.
    This way you can compact your craft a bit and have some non laggy ways of moving around.

    How did you get the wires to run under the floor? It looks so tidy and neat. My OCD is begging to know.

      @TheDutchActuary  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha I know right? When that first occured to me my OCD was very pleased indeed.
      You simply remove some floor tiles and run the cables down, then back up again wherever you have your machines. It's been a few months so I don't remember exactly, but you might need a tech or two to be able to remove stuff (but it's very early on)

    • @Rikirie
      @Rikirie ปีที่แล้ว

      You can put wire, connectors and water pipes under floor and behind walls. You'll want the blocks technology to be able to remove the foundation your station starts off with. Once the foundation is gone you can put wire under the flooring. Happy Colonizing :)

    how would you compare to DSP? Im on my third playthrough and I sped run to the best 0 star before starting a sphere. Its starting to become work/stale now. Was considering satisfactory

    • @TheDutchActuary
      @TheDutchActuary  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Satisfactory and DSP are both amazing and polished games, with new updates still coming in to make things even better. Satisfactory hits many of the same points as DSP when it comes to factory building, but does so from a first person perspective - this provides a VERY different experience. There is something very satisfying about walking around in your own factory and seeing the items you're producing on the belts, where DSP is more static. I have noticed that from an endgame perspective, I personally prefer DSP due to the time it takes to build things in Satisfactory. However, if you like making large/beautiful looking facilities like an architect, Satisfactory offers a lot more than DSP.
      In short, they are BOTH great games. Astro Colony in turn is much like Satisfactory but less deep at the moment - I think it wouldn't be wrong to call it ' Satisfactory light, in space' for the moment.

      @@TheDutchActuary DSP was kind of a key stone game for me. I had played like the same 1-2 games for like the last 8 years and just wanted something to chill out from esports with. I was astounded that a such a small team from china could make such a complete game, with devs playing an extreme amount of empathy for every little thing the playerbase wants. After playing I realized there are soo many great games out there that are not TRIPLE AAA releases or esports... kinda pushed me to become a gamer instead of somebody who plays 1 game. Will def try satisfatory or astro colony soon. Thanks

      I just started yesterday. I'd say it's a fun mix of Satisfactory and Raft. I feel it's easier to get started up and running in AC. DSP is great but it gets grindy and boring after a bit. This has a lot of tech to learn and plan things out for.

    • @TheDutchActuary
      @TheDutchActuary  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can remove the flooring that is there initially, at least as soon as you get some tech for that. The exception to that is the few pieces around the middle of the platform that you start out on.

    For this kind of game there is no "winning" ... there is no real game here. it's kinda fun but it is just doing things. You are just doing space chores. That can be the problem with a lot of "go anywhere do anything" games .... there is nothing really to do. It is just about building with resources ... that's it. you can be super sloppy about it andnot be detailed and do a crude set up and be totally fine.
    Personally I am mostly just collecting a tone of planetoids and connecting to build a huge flat earth structure

    • @Rikirie
      @Rikirie ปีที่แล้ว

      The game ends when you build a stargate and go to another universe. There are plans for new resources/new tech to open after you go to another universe but for now that it. Go 4 PU over and get the final achievement.
