You couldn’t be more right about the spiders. I’m several hundred hours in, and they still give me a scare!!
Also having 100% the game, I'm voting it as steam game of the year.
I hate the hard drive madness. I don't enjoy tearing down factories just because I know a better alternative is coming. Especially since ALL alts aren't unlockable from the beginning.
I'm close to having put more hours into Satisfactory than Factorio even!
I completed the game at about 130 hours and as a long-term fan was left a bit disappointed with two things. 1) the complexity of the last phase is very strange. You are given all that new tech with things flowing in and out, and stuff taken from thin air... but once you put it all on paper and understand a couple of simple rules, building becomes trivial. Moreover, it is as if it's designed to have just one complex with 1 machine for every part complementing each other - and in some 40 minutes the whole 2nd part of the phase is done. It felt underwhelming, I had just 3 coal and one turbofuel plant - with 2 augmenters it was enough to get some 30GW and complete the game. No challenge at all. It will probably come as a DLC - but it should have been in the main line not a DLC. 2) story. Ends abruptly, never elaborates, leaves (literally). I understand it is a secondary addition but it is an addition dropped in the middle of the path, with the final scripted scene making one think "that's it?" Regardless I never regretted the purchase and still think that it is a great game albeit a little rushed out.
For me, the first person perspective is what makes the game for me. It's so immersive, and it's like playing in VR. I get lost in the game, and it's like an alternate reality to me.
vs dyson, what do you think ?
Early game is great. Then there is the irritation with getting items back to my main base of operations. Long logistics lines, trucks and trains are just brutal, especially over uneven terrain. Tunneling through a mountain would be nice and add a cool visual element. I like the blue print idea but snapping them into place is a royal pain. Even with Ctrl they don’t behave like other objects.
I have to use a mod for flying. Can't stand doing things without it. Also, blueprints are a pain in the ass. They are painful to create and manage in Satisfactory. Dyson Sphere Program shows how amazing blueprints can be if done right. Using the BlueprintTweaks mod is also a must, since it adds a ton of functionality. Still enjoy the game. Thank goodness for mods. Good review, TDA.
Yeah I much as I love the game, I realize building in the game is insanely tedious and there aren't enough tools in the game to make building anything feel smooth or "satisfactory". Building in factorio or dyson is completely painless and fun to expand. The limits of nudging, the janky snapping, the zoop limit, the ridculously small blueprints, everything is just so tedious and makes me want to play something else. I have hundreds of hours in the game and have built a 40/min Ballistic Missile Factory but now, I'm done and probably won't come back without mods.
I have marching towards completing phase 5 thanks to your masterclass series. Thanks!!!
Hi, first of all I want to thank you for your videos, I learnt a lot about the game so thank you. Secondly I wanted to ask you if you are going to make a video about building nuclear power plant
Satisfactory is one of the most accessible factory games, and it has loads of exploration fun. I think the best automation light game like it is Planet Crafter, but the drones almost over simplify it. My wife always bounced off Satisfactory but loves Planet Crafter. I really like both, but for me Satisfactory is a solo game for me, and the spiders suck.
The "hard" part of the game that I suspect burns many people out is that it's completely open ended. You don't have to do anything. There's no time crunch. You can make 1 part power minute or 1,000. You can build wherever you want, however you want. Some people enjoy that freedom while others simply don't know what to do.
BS! This game is for everyone.. to try. One of the best games ever & definitive game of the year. My 7 year old son is enjoying it, to a degree (with my help). my 11 year old son, when we're not playing in coop is finishing the 3rd stage of the space elevator on his bases. P.S. This is a great review and your bases look super neat. Mine are mostly spaghetti! :)
Great review! I just completed Phase 5 for the first time, thanks to your Masterclass series!
Don't forget to like the video to help me out! I recorded this before the game won the 2024 Golden Joystick for Game of the Year which just proves again that this game is ' pretty decent '!
Funny enough the power tower lines don't count for the hoverjet, train tracks do though, the towers only provide power to the hoverjet around them because of the normal line connector
hm weird, i always have either heavy oil residue or petroleum coke left, so i love the alternate recipes using coke to make ingots of any kind regarding the water thing, the game uses gravity for water mechanics, so since things fill up from the bottom to the top the bottom one is used first
Thanks for the tips ...
god this has been the most helpful video yet.. thanks!
How many ports are you using per item, to unload items from the elevator?
Would be good if some kind of time scale was mentioned as in how long it took to make this and how many hours it took to get here. Just a thought but a great vid none the less
I love watching how you put everything together! Do you think you could do a build like this for a more beginner to the game with the lower tier stuff? I'm going to try and use what you showed here and make my own, but I'm curious how you would approach it (I don't have access to the blast stuff yet).
You don't really need the blast stuff! All you need is a LOT of belts, plenty of floors, and you can get going!
@TheDutchActuary I actually just realized you put out a beginner video for the first few levels, your videos are always so informative and helpful! Love this bus and mall idea though, looks amazing
Is there any reason that you don't do the main lines directly on top instead of as stairs ? Cheers for the video , very informative, and no mucking around
Easier to navigate, but most importantly it makes both the bus but *especially* the lifts look a LOT cleaner.
Oy vey, shades of a glass-faced arcology in that bus. Yes, I know it’s open instead of sheathed in glass. Still! A nice machine-filled valley between the two of them.
i did it! beat the game and 100%'ed it! i like the game but without your guidance this wouldn't have been possible so thank you very much for your masterclass playlist. great guides and easy to follow.
Mission accomplished! Thank you for letting me know!
Look forward to seeing you do all of the products on a bus.. I want to love this gane but sons of the ingredients are just obtuse and have many parts and now the mono rails are pointless.. the ingredients need alot of work I think
You definitenly don't want ALL of the products on the bus (or well, unless you don't mind the massive effort that would be lol). This is about as far as I'd take it, aside from a few more late-game additions.
Hey TDA I love the series and I really enjoy to learn the mathematics behind the game. In the beginning I didnt scale big enough and especially in late game I had trouble with keeping up the production. your videos were eye opening for me. Short question, at 15:00 how do you make the belts go sideways? Is it a mod?
I'm not using any mods (aside from one that keeps the lights on 24/7 so you can actually see what i'm doing). I checked the timestamp but i'm not 100% sure what you mean. Are you referring to the diagonal belts? If so, you can switch between belt settings by pressing ' R ' I believe is the default. This will allow you to place belts in any angle.
It's beautiful!!
Cool!
Wow, I googled phase 4 and got here, I'm going to have to back up a few videos to see how you do it! 🧠🧠🧠
"When I played for the first time, on version 0.3, I used a bus like that, with floors and a staircase. Now, with vertical belts, I prefer to use a staircase. After that, I realized that I could stack belts on top of each other, so I added six levels and, 3 blocks behind, I added another six. I did this in Victor. Now, I'm going to try to separate things, using each level of the elevator for different purposes, like connecting foundries to smelters, and so on.
Nice one! I also considered going for the 'blocky' bus with some space between levels, but found this more aesthetically pleasing. That said, your version is a bit more space efficient and easier to use in areas that aren't quite as tall! Options, options, options :)
Don't forget to like the video to help me out! Subscribing is useful if you want to see more as well! NOTE on this Episode: This took me about 5 times longer than I expected, but the result was very... satisfactory ;)
One thing I disagree with right at the start is it's taking you a long time to build some buildings because you built them in replicator directly from raw. If you set up stockpiling on a copper and iron furnace. Is there a particular reason you don't depot those early common resources? Any thing you can prebuild dramatically reduces the time it takes to make structures.
I'm mostly grabbing resources that I need for those buildings straight from the furnaces
Hate to ask, but i couldn't find it in the lvl 10 buildings, and i need an excavator bit mkVI or 6
That one is in the floors where you need to pump away the sand, in a building you can't access at first. I believe it's the science level. The sand will take a LOT of diesel to get gone... ;)
Thx
Old skool
thank you
There’s an iron node nearby. Make compacted coal ingots and train them somewhere useful.
Looks like the game has changed quite a bit and seems like early mid-game seems a lot more accessible. Worth getting back into.
The game is super accessible now (maybe a bit too easy honestly, but after Satisfactory I don't mind a game that doesn't take 50-100+ hours to complete :P)
The game is super boring.
How many hours of content is there?
Depends a bit on how you play it. If you just rush to the end, maybe 20 hours. If you try and make pretty builds or a machine that builds the randomized builds automatically? Easily 2-3 times that.
I quite like this game and am glad you are covering it. I enjoyed it briefly in 0.2 but had the patience to decide to wait for 1.0. Eagerly watching and liking all videos
Really looking for the thresher Mk2 location any help be appreciated
If you check the tech-tree, it will tell you the location for undiscovered tech. I believe this particular one is either in the research base or in the freight base.
Great !
how are you conjoining the conveyor belts without the splitter?
Just attach them! Splitters are only needed to, well, split. Joining the belts back up doesn't need anything in particular.
Good video and info! Another good one would be how to deal with chunks / slabs after :)
Yup, that's the next one! (along with a LOT of other stuff)
You have no idea how much this video helped me! I was making this game so much harder than it needed to be. THANK YOU! SUBBED!!!
Always nice to wake up to a new vid of yours to watch at breakfast time. /thumbsup
How can I get larger ships in DW2? I can get frigates.. but I don't see ANY research that says it allows for larger ships.
Maybe I’ll check this out once my Satisfactory fix is fulfilled. Ratios scare the crap out of me though. Me no good at math.
When in doubt - build more! :D
