Kids being kids & having fun with an old GMC truck. Nice find & it runs great too. I've had over 10 GM trucks 68-82 and ya just cant beat them, they are damn good trucks!

Just a tip for starting old engines, don’t rev it up high immediately after she fires up. Keep it at a steady strong rpm and see how it responds, if you have to play with the throttle to keep it running do it; but don’t rev it to Honda Civic levels. For the short time that the oil isn’t circulating when it first fires, the high rpms are doing a lot of wear on the unlubricated parts. I’m sure cranking it for a while before it fired helped the circulation process though. From one young guy to another, keep them coming! I’ve got a 49 Chevy that I’ve been working on for a year and a half or so. Good video

Amazing it made it this long with the two barrel. First thing i always did was swap those for an aluminum intake and quadrajet. Usually swapped the cam lifter and timing chain since I already had the intake off. Comp Cams 267H was my “go to” cam since you could keep the stick valve springs rockers and push rods. Usually ditched the points distributor for an hei since it was a cheap upgrade.

1967 to 1972 had same body style with variations on front grille. 1973 to 1987 pickup had same body style with slight variations. 1973 was I think the only year the engine size was put on the lower left of the grille like you have there. If you are going by build tag and says 1972, it must have been assembled in late 1972 and was into the '73 model year.

Jason Turner yes it was, I passed it too every day. My friend and I talked to the older guy who owned it and we got it running for him again. Super nice guy! Has a few health problems so he hasn’t drove it. I need to go back and ask how he’s doing.
