Bleeding time is a maximum time till blood continues to remain in the fluid state then after the bleeding time its start to clot. Bleeding time may be warry to person to person. Clotting is an important biological process for maintaining the homeostasis between blood loss and blood preservation. If blood will not clot it may be fatal for that individual. Here is a step by step procedure for the determination of bleeding time-
1- Gently massage your finger to increase the blood flow
2- Sterilize the fingertip with spirit or ethanol
3- Adjust the depth of pricker pen with rotating the knob
4- Prick the finger and allow blood to come automatically
5- Take a normal filter paper you use in the laboratory and cut it into an equal shape
6- Start the stopwatch
7- After 30 sec put the finger on filter paper without applying pressure
8- Repeat the process after each 30 sec until the blood stops to make a stain on filter paper
9- Note down the time at which blood stops to flow
10- This time is the bleeding time of the individuals.
