@@caliguy44 this is so sad to watch. I am blessed that I worked hard all my life, never did drugs and was thrifty with my money. I am 74 years old and I don’t owe anyone. I feel blessed when I see people living like this.
The high earners will rake in the money the poor will always be poor it's not equal... YOU'LL NEVER FIX THIS NO MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY YOU THROUGH AT IT and you can't hide it never.... been this way for ever .
The problems are complex to say the least. America is a place with huge disparities in wealth. It starts with how women are treated. Family violence has a huge impact on children and their future. Drug use is another major issue in America and it is like a cancer on communities. One gets the feeling society rewards dishonesty and criminality more than honesty and hard work. That is obvious.
Be thankful for what you've got whatever hole you're in, there's always a bigger one waiting for you around the corner be vigilant seek the truth always
I've never been to Los Angeles but from what I've seen in other videos from previous years, it seems, in your video, it has been cleaned up! Has it been cleaned up? I'm a Canadian and live in Vancouver and I can tell you, East Hastings looks worst than what I've seen in your video. Looks much cleaner now!
I've got a great idea. Let's send hundreds of billions of dollars to other countries and just ignore what we see here on the video. What could be wrong with that?
LOS ANGELES: Mexico's second largest city. The county of L.A. hands out $1.5 BILLION in welfare to illegals. What would have happened if they'd spent that on affordable housing?!?!?!
@ yes the high rise they just built cost 560,000 each unit! That’s not affordable and the money from illegals would have built many more houses for veterans and our own, seems like Americans are last
@@walkingtourseurope8526 first they have built multiple and that's just skid row and second it was estimated each room is worth 560,000 per room. That doesn't mean they are paying for it, its supportive housing anyone who makes under a certain amount is eligible to live their, and the feds would take 30% of their life income while they live there.
The one two punch of prohibition and government enablement policies create and maintain these disaster populations. The tax cattle powerlessly feed this, while politicians and political parties get and maintain their power from this. End all entitlements, legalize all drugs, regulate, and reasonably tax.
Smells bad all over downtown and not just homeless areas but the tall buildings where the kids live take out the pets to go right on the sidewalk so it's everywhere
Watching from NYC. Camping on West Coast is soooo much more prevalent than here in the East. But death and grossness and limbs falling off are worst in Philly. Skid Row is DISGUSTING.
Why don’t they have capsule hotels like in Japan but with a variation. They could have single capsule bed type arrangements where people can go and sleep. Have them ticketed for a low fee. Have mens and womens sections seperate for safety reasons. They do that in Japan in the commercial ones. No woman gets SAd as a result. These places would be run correctly with lockers where people can put their stuff safely. Have them clean and well run not by criminals. You could have it through a welfare agency also that provide job boards, access to laundry and other services like health and have it all run properly and clean. Then ban side walk camping. Some of these people have jobs but no accomodation. As for addicts? Get off the street or into rehab. One or the other or get out of town. Criminals, back to jail. Get a job and place to live or piss off. Single parents stop having children or remove the children from birth if the parent cannot be responsible. One child for a single parent is enough. Don’t make the same mistake twice, a second too much. A parent addicted to crack or all the other fancy poisons on the street is no parent at all. I also would no longer be saving lives with Narcan when people OD. They just go right back to using. Sorry but true. You can’t save people from themselves. The more you try the more they push back.
@@ulrikezachmann7596 they won't work because they still accommodate only those who can pay. Informal settlements are usually free or extremely cheap to stay there.

I figure, like anything else, skid row has changed, meaning, it's population increased, certain dynamics evolved,...I'd visit S.R. in the late/early morning hours in the early 00's, late 90's,...after being out on the town, & needed ''party favors'',...it'd be quite easy to find,...over time, I began to experience a bit of a safety concern,...due to addicts needing their fix, but hadn't the $,..so a guy visiting for a ''good-time'' would be a bit hairy,....overall, I'd have ''fun'' there. After several years of not visiting S.R.,..& revisiting, a lot of the ol' haunts had transitioned to either lofts, or were all together demolished, or some other change, & L.A. slowly became, and still is becoming a city with a different dynamic, it's surprising to see S.R., still ''thriving'' in its,..how can I say w/out offending,...''debauchery''?,....yes,..there are folks whom suffer from true mental health issues, who truly need assistance, with the very least of which is getting themselves off the street..........................
I can’t imagine living in the streets like these people. I live in South Carolina and have never seen anything like this.
They have to battle rats at night so if you can’t get inside at night rats will crawl in your sleeping bag. Rats are everywhere

Where should they camp since US has no informal settlements
