I'm 72, homeless, disabled veteran and there is no help in my community, with the exception of 2 local churches. They have food banks and donated clothing, so I can relate to these people. I'm a Christian, don't drink, no drugs or alcohol, so the excuse of: "addiction or they want to be there" is a lie against most homeless people. We work part-time jobs when available.
Yes I have and was put on a waiting list. So many veterans in need of help they need time and resources to get anything accomplished. Many veterans have been waiting for years and more coming in every month, so the wait is long.
@@dantheman5222 anyway possible. Most of the Churches allow us to charge our phone and battery storage, some of us have solar chargers that we purchased from 4Patriots or other survival companies. It's difficult at best anytime however.
As a formerly homeless person who is now a homeowner, If one can stay away from substances, and hold tight to the dream of a better life, one can have it. The refusal to relinquish my dream of having a normal, prospourous life kept me away from drugs and alcohol, and propelled me forward with an Iron will agianst all odds. 😮
I had no choice to but to be homeless when I became disabled and kept being denied disability. And I do not like people constantly witnessing to me and shoving their version of Jesus down my throat just to have a roof over my head. There needs to be shelters that are not religion-based where people can go. I went to one and had to sit through some guy ranting and raving about culture issues just to be able to eat so forget it. Why is there no treatment for addiction except for the wealthy? Why is there no mental health in the community except through a religion? You don't realize how brutal this country is until you're not able to work. Not only do you lose your insurance you can't get disability They do disability just like they do insurance deny deny deny. I met several people who unalived because they could not get disability or had no health insurance and were turned away from a hospital
How were they poor and homeless yet you could afford all your drugs? If they had money for that they were closer to not being homeless than they'd ever imagine, but nah being high AF under a bridge or some alley was preferable to folks like them to staying indoors then 🙄
I was homeless two full years back in college from jr yr till graduation back in 2013 in California. At times i slept in my car near college campus or near parks. It was so scary and cold at night that i couldn't sleep at night so i only slept in the day it was the worst most depression two years of my life. No one cares about you every one avoids you especially class mates and teachers alike.
Been on the street for a year now, it's insanely cold. Worse than it was last year IMO. Tried to get help straight away, my state (Massachusetts) told me to try another state. It's nonsense
all cities in U,S and Canada have this going on.....I say to the politicians that if we do not take care of our own citizens first then how can you send billions to another country to help them????? makes no sense to me...There is a reason you cannot donate blood if you have High Blood Pressure = you need to FIRST take care of your own health
I hate it when people say, homelessness comes from bad decisions.....or, "poor choices". True, some outright choose the lifestyle right from the start but this is a minority. So we can't use these as blanket, cover-all statements. Sure, were all affected by our daily decisions, but everything in life is not a result of our choices. Misfortune is real. Bad luck really does exist. Someone descending down the path toward homelessness is systematically getting their choices reduced thru consecutive unfortunate circumstances....usually beyond their control. And from this broken platform, they must make their "choices". In these scenarios it's common where homelessness is the only choice left. So....even though some of us have chosen homelessness, you can't rightfully blame us, and our choices, for our current state or condition.
Well homeless people need help and many cities and towns don't do anything to help them so they gotta go somewhere. They hear about Knoxville so will try to get there. Can't blame them since the government cares about the illegal aliens but not its own citizens.
I am shocked. Most of the US News stations I have seen on youtube wont let you post a comment. Most likely because they don't want to hear what anyone else has to say. But cheer's to you for letting us say what we want to say on here.

" Did the pressures of success lead to his addiction"? Trauma/ stress/ pressures can only lead to addiction if the individual allows it to. Why, becausr I was not willing to relinquish my dream of one day having a better life. I fought tooth and nail agianst all odds and am now a proud homeowner!
Depression is a trap that can justify using/drinking. You have to understand that life is not always perfect, ut has ups, and it has downs. The universe never completely abandons us, it's just up to each individual to discover their options. As long as their is a glimmer of hope, we have an abilty to dig ourselves out if our own trenches.

In the beginning of the video, Keith who is a US Navy veteran and homeless is a sad story of all homeless veterans. The VA needs to start serving those who served America but unfortunately are forgotten after their discharge from service. JFK once said, ask not what America can do for you, ask what you can do for America. And that's where the problems start when it comes to homeless veterans, some of which are disabled and shell shocked from fighting in wars. The VA needs to reach out and house homeless veterans such as Keith who has already been homeless for a decade while struggling just to survive.
People buy from Walmart, Amazon, or companies like Tesla. Keep giving millions to the Walton family daily. How many Walmart workers have complained over the last 30 some years??? Find a new grocery store to shop or goods store. People give half of their paychecks to Billionaires weekly.
You have to remember that these people refused to agree to the rules and regulations of the homeless shelter that they're offered and the homeless shelter system which can assist them. They have the right as an American citizen to refuse to follow those rules of regulations and the system has the right to refuse to shelter them.
But you gotta understand America does not help their own people. That's what they put blocks and stuff like that. So people can't sleep all over the place on the streets. The safe people shouldn't be homeless but the market did not take care of that people. You have to take care of your people. So it makes sense reasonable so they can afford to have somewhere if you're gonna have a shelter have a shelter with individual rooms like a big hole. Or help people with conditions. Oh, you must do it on a church to help you. Let's both fix it now. Help them to help them don't help them with conditions.
They think Care cuts is such a great program, Marty has smoked weed with the clients at her house, she is collecting section 8 for a client that can’t take care of herself so she definitely can’t take of a house. The Attorney General need to take a close look at all these places . Tim has a supposed to be half way house that’s not being ran properly. Were is these mentally challenged people money going, where is the checks and balances to make sure these people are being treated fairly. It’s going to take more than you laughing and grinning at the cameras to get out of this one Marty.
Giving people housing will not fix their problems.A lot of these people end up on the streets because they do not want to look inward and deal with the pain inside themselves. accountability goes a long way.

I am a formerly homeless person who is now a homeowner! It can be done!
One step forward three steps back takes so long to build and instantly lost and destitute/ I pray that you regain all you have lost
Things are like this today and I honestly think that we are in Hell.
Level 0 of hell out of 8 levels of hell once you die. The other 7 are once your body dies.
We are in Hell. Once you can't be a pawn in the grand scheme that insures the rich get richer, you realize through becoming homeless that this is Hell, indeed.
Where did you hear this from i wanna know more@@CapitalismDeathSpiral
We need to help our homeless people and homeless families! It’s a tragedy. Especially our Veterans! May our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ look after these people all the day of their lives and give them, safety, warmth, shelter and food 🥘 Amen 🙏 ❤
Have you tried contacting the VA and seeing if they can help?
Yes I have and was put on a waiting list. So many veterans in need of help they need time and resources to get anything accomplished. Many veterans have been waiting for years and more coming in every month, so the wait is long.
A genuine question how do you charge your phone when you are homeless
@@dantheman5222 anyway possible. Most of the Churches allow us to charge our phone and battery storage, some of us have solar chargers that we purchased from 4Patriots or other survival companies. It's difficult at best anytime however.
God bless you brother
Great doc
We need to take care of ours first,Vet,Seniors etc before sending and giving Billions to others !
I wish him all the absolute luck
u might want to mention what rents cost in Knoxville when u do another homeless story
Are they ten grand a month yet?
God bless all those who are suffering. The world gets pretty gloomy at times.
Respect
I think it is not Christian for America to have the amount of homelessness we have. Nobody in our country should be homeless.
What i worry about is being homeless again with landlords charging higher rent and evicting decent section8 tenants
If they had money for that they were closer to not being homeless than they'd ever imagine, but nah being high AF under a bridge or some alley was preferable to folks like them to staying indoors then 🙄
The atheists and agnostics should have stepped up and helped you. But unfortunately they rarely do.
Charity is the works of all people who are able to do something
NOT THE GOVERNMENT USA NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO ASSIST. 😊😊😊
There is an answer somewhere to homeless people. But we haven't found it yet. God help us !
Very sad story. So much potential.
Help our ❤Homeless Citizens Now. I pray for them. I care.
How did you go to college and also sleep during the day while classes were in session? I'm missing something here.
Been on the street for a year now, it's insanely cold. Worse than it was last year IMO. Tried to get help straight away, my state (Massachusetts) told me to try another state. It's nonsense
The editor will be featured next episode if they don't fix this audio.
HA!
The audio was fine for me.
all cities in U,S and Canada have this going on.....I say to the politicians that if we do not take care of our own citizens first then how can you send billions to another country to help them????? makes no sense to me...There is a reason you cannot donate blood if you have High Blood Pressure = you need to FIRST take care of your own health
Zoning regulations keep us in a housing shortage...let people build
Also, people owning multiple houses drains the supply
@danieluva2848 little pink houses for you and I,sure ant America no more
I hate it when people say, homelessness comes from bad decisions.....or, "poor choices".
This is incredibly sad but I think it’s wrong for the mayor to invite more homeless people here
Well homeless people need help and many cities and towns don't do anything to help them so they gotta go somewhere.
😢felt sad for them hoping they overcome it.
God bless 🙏🌺
He said $100k condos. Thats crazy!! Thats dirt cheap. He must just be out of touch
Great story ❤
LIVE in the sewers for many years, and love it ..
Regular people all over the place are preparing to. become engaged . FULLY WITH HUMANITY.
What was the source of his pain? Did the pressure of success lead to his dependency?
" Did the pressures of success lead to his addiction"? Trauma/ stress/ pressures can only lead to addiction if the individual allows it to. I had a horrific childhood that caused me to become homeless due to an impaired functioning ability that kept me unemployable. Through all of this, I never turned to substances. Why, becausr I was not willing to relinquish my dream of one day having a better life. I fought tooth and nail agianst all odds and am now a proud homeowner!
Tq for the upload. From Malaysia.
At least when I was homeless I was sober. Knew I had to be alert. Woodlots were the best places to sleep.
Interesting/informative/entertaining.🤗
Keith looks like he's in good physical health and moves like an 18-year old man. ❤
Gone through the superstorms in 2014 to late fifteen in a ditch monks path washford surviving on food from places in Taunton under one roof or open door and Minehead , now I'm not living in a ditch and gone through emergency housing but the issues have arisen so won't be long. yet today the light shine on my situation when I found a place I can get my body weight back up as a full meal and desert with drink is being offered in a place called Chard Community Waffle , chicken casserole and cake today by the end of Feb I hope to get my body back to road worthy and be on my way again.
What ever happens to people who helped built Barnes neighbors 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Government don't care but they let ppl from another country n give em money free rent a car. What's wrong with this pic😢😢
Im 63 was homeless for 7years.I fear i may be homeless again soon.I wouldn't wish this on My worst enemy.People take advantage of you and will steal your last penny
If the audio isn't mixed properly for you, switch to mono sound. That will combine the two audio channels into one
Thank him for his service
I have a homeless brother who has an income. He chooses to spend his money on drugs and alcohol. That's the way he wants to live his life.
As a formerly homeless person who is now a homeowner, staying away from substances was a major reason for my success.
Air BNB is one of biggest driver of the homeless problem in the city I was living in there are 2000 thousand of them i couldn't find an apartment I was offered people who were renting apartments a year of rent up front I couldn't find a appointment did not qualify for a home loan I ended up buying an RV and land 300 miles away not everyone that is homeless is broke
WE PRAY THAT YHE HOMELESS KEEP THEIR FOCUS ON JESUS CHRIST 24/7 365 AND ETERNAL LIFE. HOMELESS ON A PLANET MADE FOR HUMANS.
If you're a homeless veteran you yourself has to reach out. They might not know you're homeless. That's what I had to do.
Staying every where we can. Means I would be inside , mostly.
Like a revolving door
3000 Billionaires in this world and there is homelessness!
That's it? 3000 billionaires In the whole world 🌎? There has to be alot more than that.
People buy from Walmart, Amazon, or companies like Tesla. Keep giving millions to the Walton family daily. How many Walmart workers have complained over the last 30 some years??? Find a new grocery store to shop or goods store. People give half of their paychecks to Billionaires weekly.
Sad❤
You have to remember that these people refused to agree to the rules and regulations of the homeless shelter that they're offered and the homeless shelter system which can assist them. They have the right as an American citizen to refuse to follow those rules of regulations and the system has the right to refuse to shelter them.
Why does the media alwsys push the drug narrative. Everyone is NOT om drugs or an addict
sad to see this in knoxville
I hope they get paid for these interviews and buy them something to eat
We need to help the TRUE homeless. Not the addicted that won't help themselves or behqve.
Welcome to the 21st century
But you gotta understand America does not help their own people. That's what they put blocks and stuff like that. So people can't sleep all over the place on the streets. The safe people shouldn't be homeless but the market did not take care of that people. You have to take care of your people. So it makes sense reasonable so they can afford to have somewhere if you're gonna have a shelter have a shelter with individual rooms like a big hole. Or help people with conditions. Oh, you must do it on a church to help you. Let's both fix it now. Help them to help them don't help them with conditions.
Wonderful news
First time is free. But is it worth it?
They think Care cuts is such a great program, Marty has smoked weed with the clients at her house, she is collecting section 8 for a client that can’t take care of herself so she definitely can’t take of a house. The Attorney General need to take a close look at all these places . Tim has a supposed to be half way house that’s not being ran properly. Were is these mentally challenged people money going, where is the checks and balances to make sure these people are being treated fairly. It’s going to take more than you laughing and grinning at the cameras to get out of this one Marty.
Sad times we living through
Giving people housing will not fix their problems.A lot of these people end up on the streets because they do not want to look inward and deal with the pain inside themselves. accountability goes a long way.
This reminds me of the homeless in the USSR.
You're only one tragedy ftom being homeless!
A decade
I’m in my sixties, with below poverty level income, have Crohn’s disease. I’ve never been homeless in fact I’m on my second home that I bought myself with no help. It has requires a very strict budget over the years. So I’m sorry that I have no sympathy for these people. They have made bad life decisions and why should we bail them out when they’ll just lose it on drug abuse? If I can do it, everyone should be able to have a home, car, and even pets. No pity or sympathy here.
