    LOTRSBG is what got me into wargaming back in 2004. I'm glad it's nearly taken 20 years for people to start to appreciate the game more...better late than never right? I do wish GW would release some of the older scenery sets though...

    • @BecauseOfDragons

      Yes, that would be brilliant!

    Mines of Moria was the one I bought. But my kids never got into it so it stayed under the bed for years. Now looking at the future release of Midgard written by James Morris of GW histortic battles I had bought a load of GW LotR minis I now have large Rohan and Isengard armies. I might just pick up a copy of the rules.

    I bought the Battle of Pelennor Fields twice for presents as well as Mines of Moria. Introduced three different generations to wargaming with this line. Good rules, nice miniatures. Hard to miss with Tolkein.

    Hey Ben - awesome video dude, although I suppose I'm biased - thanks so much for all the really kind shout-outs! This was lovely to listen to, I always like hearing people talk about the hobby they love and hearing you wax lyrical about Middle-earth is just the best. I actually stumbled over your channel when TH-cam led me to your Mordhiem vid and I watched the whole thing without knowing it was you! Consider me subbed and it looks like I've got loads of great content to catch up on - better get stuck in! Damian

      Thanks! It doesn't take much to have my waxing lyrical about Middle-earth! Glad you enjoyed the vid and very much looking forward to more from yourself as well. I have Farmer Maggot and his dogs alongside Bilbo sitting on my painting table currently so I can get stuck into Quest Of The Ringbearer.

    Great recap of the MESBG from its history to how to get involved. Honestly going through how GW has supported the game over the last decade and more got me reminiscing on seeing the game change from movie releases, to a barely supported game to what it is now.

    One of my good friends and I have been building up the player base of this game in our area over the last few years… This game is amazing, the best rule set of any table top strategy game I’ve played. Between SPQR, Bolt Action, 40k, AoS, and MESBG,,,, I’m going with MESBG all day. Best rules, most balance, best game flow, most exciting moments,,,, and overall just really freaking fun.

    I've never really cared much about the Lord of the Rings universe so this game left untouched by me for the longest time. one day I was bored so I browsed the rules and I really liked what I was reading. I found I prefer them over 40k and AoS after a few games and now I'm a fan.

    Nice video for our beloved Middle Earth hobby! I'm looking forward to playing some games soon as i have been slowly painting a few forces up in the last 18 months or so.
    Which rendition of the game has been your favourite to date?
    And in terms of another resource i would recommend the Nerd of the Rings youtube channel, it's great to have on whilst painting, and if you want to know the history and lore of Middle Earth then thats the place to go! :):)

    • @BecauseOfDragons
      @BecauseOfDragons  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I watch a lot of Nerd Of The Rings and Part Time Hobbit when painting for sure - keeps me in the mood to get through more Middle-earth! I really liked the way The Two Towers added in some new bits and pieces and I got back in during The Hobbit - found those rules really fun and tweaked just enough. New rules are also great and full of depth!

    • @BecauseOfDragons
      @BecauseOfDragons  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The game is very easy to learn. It's good to find a cheat sheet online somewhere but it will often start to just become easy to remember the more you play. You can also use this unofficial Army Builder which will "make" cards for you to print off to refer to on the tabletop avcordaro.github.io/mesbg-list-builder/
