How crunchy is WFRP 4? I used to DM very rule-full systems (D&D, Pathfinder, WoD, etc) but now that I am older and returning to the hobby I am looking for something more fluid and easy to play. Would WFRP 4 fit that?

I can already see myself building some Morgul Knights as what was that small escort that disappeared. I've been collecting and building my MESB armies and books little by little here and I'm looking forward to seeing what lies in wait with Arnor. As long as they keep new things like this coming, I'm alright with slow steady releases. It gives me time to actually get things done, too. Thanks Ben!

Margin of success is actually something 3e did. At least something to say about that edition;) It was not Warhammer. But the System was reinvented later in Starwars and Genesys RPG and there it is really cool.

I heard some scuttlebutt that the teaser could be for a hill-man of Rhudaur, which sounds interesting but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I am looking forward to this book. I'd like to do the battles of Fornost. But I'd use 28mm dark age minis. Maybe Arthurian late Roman's as Arnor and maybe some Barrons war fantasy elves. Big project, one day.

Such an awesome game. Bought thousands of cards dirt cheap a few years ago. Me an my brother probably have close to 5k cards :D Most are unopened. To bad the "starter/faction boxes" or whatever they're called are so rare now.

Why I like Warhammer so much, is it promotes ROLE play and the settings matter. It's not a level dominated design.

Nice Vid sir…played wargames for years, but this is just what I wanted for MESBG….got Osgiliath box and 2 host boxes, because…why not. Like your approach for getting started, which I will be using for an introductory game. Thanks again.

I've been toying with picking up one of these books, so I'm quite glad to see you take a look at one of them.

Nice review, i have so many of these in the plastic, painted and ready to paint one day that not sure i will try these. They are rather expensive. I have lots of experience with Archon Games clear plastic models a d did not find problems when removing from sprues. Some people of the wraith models has very small appendices too..

It will be interesting to see how plastic glue works with the different plastic, and if it has any affect on the translucent appearance.

Kind of wish they were completely clear so inks could be used to tint them with gradients.

I don't play "War Games" with figurines, but I do build 28mm figures, mostly British Victorian/Imperial Wars because they are fun to paint...but after watching your video I think I'd like to try my hand at painting Norman Infantry and Late Saxons. Great video by the way, well done Sir, well done indeed. I assume it's okay to build and paint these figures just for the fun of it.

Not sure on these. I like the idea but prefer the original of which I purchased some from EBay this year for the first time and painted up along with the King and His Herald which I purchased at Salute 24. Really like the kits though and think they were a great new idea.

silly nitpick - Smaug has wings and can fly, so that model isn't a good stand in for him. It would work brilliantly for Glaurung, though, who doesn't have wings.

My two cents on the Battle of Osgiliath set is that, as the designated "Evil" team player in my two-person playgroup, the Osgiliath set horribly favors the Good faction in both matched play and in the included scenarios. I did not win a single scenario when my girlfriend and I were playing through them with me as the Evil player, but the instant we tried the first one with me as the Good team, the victory for the Forces of Good was even more one-sided than it was when she beat me in that same scenario while I was the Evil player. Plus, when it comes to long-run investment, the Mordor player gets the short end of the stick there too, because Gothmog has a terrible cost-benefit ratio in terms of in-game points, and he and the Witch-King are literally the only entry-level choices for Mordor Heroes that are relatively affordable/aren't in Resin-or-Metal Hell. Meanwhile someone investing in Gondor with the Gondor-half of the Osgiliath Set and their Gondor Battlehost has far more options for more heroes leading more warbands (Faramir, Madril, Damrod + Gandalf = Four Heroes total, twice as many Heroes and Warbands as someone playing Mordor with the its corresponding Battlehost added). And of course there's the elephant in the room for the Osgiliath set's obscene Bow quota for Gondor not really having any good workarounds out-of-box.

I like to play with 15mm minis in some scenarios. There should be prepainted 15mm miniature sets to give players more options.

I had several of those sets and have recently passed them onto my own kids. I think there was a Smaug one as well, that was the one I always wanted but couldn’t afford. I did also play MERP, but unfortunately lost most of the modules at uni in the 90s.

Will there be a new box set for the last alliance ?

I wish they would read the appendixes a little more. There should be Arthedain, Cardolani & Rhudaurim troops.

Definitely need to check out ender toys terrain if you are looking for 15mm fantasy buildings, etc.

Someone locally started talking about this, looks solid. The oathmark orcs & Goblins go hard, they look very lord of the rings/oldschool fantasy. It is a miniature agnostic game though, right? But only has rules for men/elves/dwarfs/undead/o&g? So anything else needs to kind of piggyback on those rules I guess? I love the "build your kingdom" aspect where you can design just what you want and come up with a little narrative.

I'm just getting into WFRP 4e now with 2 of my buddies. We're doing mini sessions and multiple timelines so each of us get to DM for 3-5 sessions and switch. So we all get to play a bit and DM. I just did my first go round and it's really a great system. Combat feels dangerous and rewarding. There's so much information in the book, so it's a little slow just grasping everything but it does flow quite well. D100 is just so simple. Definitely excited to see how it goes long term. i just created my first character - We are playing as human sigmar priests going South to Araby on a campaign for Frederik the 3rd to bring Sigmar's word and gain a foothold in the South.

They truly are excellent "pulp" fantasy novels set in an amazingly dark fantasy world. I am re-reading all six omnibus books and agree, they are fantastic!

not bothered by AoS, but love my skaven and been revisiting them for the Old World. There are a couple things in that set that "cant be used" in the Old World, but im pretty sure i saw in a FB group somewhere that someone was going to make an unofficial document covering all the stuff from the old army book that the legends pdf left out. Cant wait to get my hands on that Chieftain on the giant rat, and the warlock engineer is lovely too!

Models look great, never picked up arnor. I will be honest though if pricing follows the defence of the north I won't be buying anything. Currently finishing out old projects

Those skaven are wonderful, managed to update them whilst keeping a lot of the character. They still look sinister as heck. Big starter box, gonna be pricey. If it comes in at £160, that would be a lot better than I thought looking at the contents though. Thought it would be closer to £200. I like the two books rather than the all in one that Leviathan came with too
