Thanks for the translation. The 500 looks out of place in the woodlands; it is too pretty. No way would I put a new Tank 500 through that sort of treatment.

Guys stop this non sense. It's not prettier than the LC300 which people have no issue taking into rugged off-road
I wonder what transaxles and gearbox they have ?. Because the GWM ute has a ZF gearbox (German/Austrian , and one of the finest autos ever made. Used by alot of vehicle manufacturers) and the transaxles on the ute are Borgwarner (USA).
I think the same, Borg Warner and ZF. But to be confirmed once we get our own version in AU.
Tank 500 became more expensive in Russia since they were seen to be part of Putin's motorcade.
But that fact alone tells you something. I.e. it's definition "passes for a prestigious vehicle" and "his" mechanics must have done their due diligence too! 😉 You don't need to like Putin to benefit from the findings of his team.
@@ValueCarsAU Despite the size the dimensions should be manageable. Narrower than Audi Q7 and the same as Volvo XC90. Length (with door mounted spare - probably a necessity in hybrid model) is the same as Q7. The Tank 500 has serious street presence (more than a BMW X7) and looks ultra expensive. Another Russian reviewer says the Tank back seat comfort is the best luxury SUV implementation in the WORLD, kills Range Rover and Lexus.

I doubt we ever will, as discussed in the other videos. All we'll get is HEV and maybe PHEV.
It's coming here isn't it? If so will it get used by people for serious off-road stuff anyway, if it's the right price?
It's coming and some people will surely use it for off-road. The point of the video is to show that it's more than capable, but if off-road is your primary use, why would you buy it when there's Tank 300 (unless you're desperate for those 7 seats?)

Spoke to GWM Dealer and he said the 500 will have the exact same 2L engine as the 300's.
Might be too big and too heavy for a normal 2 litre petrol engine, but we'll see.

I don't think so. The 500 here in China are all 3.0 twin turbo with 48v mild hybrid. Maybe the plug-in hybrid version would be 2.0t, but those won't sell in Australia, not many people buy it here either.

Their holy grail vehicle will be the 800. The 500 will not be a competitor to the 300/prado with only 3t tow capacity. Bring on the 800 with the 3.5t towing capacity and watch them change the scene🤘
I think each of the ranges - 300, 500, 400 (when we get it) - will compete very nicely in their own segments. What they all are missing is a diesel engine. Model number won't change it if the drive train is the same.
No one is Oz is going to subject any Tank to this kind of abuse. If @mickspecial is correct the the 500 will be terribly underpowered.
I don't doubt our locals will chicken out 🤣 but it doesn't mean this is not fun to watch
