      Vitamin K and potassium are not the same. In fact, they're completely different substances. Vitamin K is a vitamin, and potassium is a mineral. However, they are commonly confused because the periodic table of elements uses the letter K to represent potassium.

    What are you talking about? Ive seen in many other videos and a ton of comments to take vitamin D3 with K2 (Mk-7) and some magnesium also to help the calcium go where it is supposed to go and not in the arteries or veins. You must be referring to a different vitamin K and not K2 (MK-7)

      She's correct to a certain extent but not completely correct. The way it works is this : some minerals compete with each other but some compliment each other so what that means is that if the minerals are in a perfect aspect ratio say spring water at 2:3 then you will not have any issues but with supplements if the ratio is 6:1 or even a 6:6 than yes you could no doubt have some issues with absorption of one mineral or both

    I don’t know. All these vitamins come together in one multi vitamin. Also many of the pairs come together in one supplement like calcium and magnesium as well as vitamins C, D and Zinc. Those come together in one supplement I take called, “CDZ”. I also remember hearing that vitamin D should be taken with calcium because vitamin D helps the body to absorb the calcium. That’s why vitamin D is added to milk. A lot of what is said here goes completely against everything I’ve learned. Maybe what I’ve learned is wrong, but I don’t really know. This video is really confusing to me.

      @@Havok4191 . I'm guessing that because all multi vitamin and mineral supplements don't have enough of what our bodies actually need, keep in mind that in most cases less than half of what we take is actually absorbed, I learned that if I want vitamin D3, C and Zinc to really make a difference and strengthen my inmune system to get over the common flu or covid I need to take very high doses, I just had what might have been covid but I never got tested so I can't be sure but the symptoms felt different than the flu, I just didn't panic it lasted 3 weeks which is very uncommon for me usually I'm over the common cold and flu in 5 to 7 days it was weird after 5 days I was getting over the symptoms and suddenly other symptoms came on very strong, I totally lost my sense of smell but I kept working out for 1 hour almost everyday I just simply refused to lie down and allow for whatever I had to take me down and I really believe that the high doses of vitamin D3 and C plus Zinc and magnesium plus herbal teas specially chamomile tea made a huge difference, I never got the vaccine I believe that my God given natural immunity is way better than the jab with no side effects is been more than a month already and no side effects but I do take really good care of myself and that makes a huge difference if you do get covid regardless of how old you are I'm close to 63 now and I feel better than when I was in my 40s and 50s and I just started taking eating healthy seriously in 2020 because of covid but it took me at least 2 years to learn how to do it the right way so technically is been only one year but I'm amazed of the results is a learning experience I'm always striving to improve.

      Going to firmly agree here, and wondering what kind of nutritional education Dr. Janine actually has. Very well reputed, research intensive companies like Thorne and others offer some of these in various combinations, and D3-K2 is basically on practically every PRO list from doctors and researchers deep into longevity science and health span.
      Give sources and cite what literature you might have, Dr. Janine; don't create a 3 minute video with affiliate links for the supplements, and no real info about what you're stating. Come on now.

    I have been training at an elite athlete level for 43 years. I have learned many subtle tricks that increase different aspects of my physical and mental development. All of the above are well documented, however if you take these together it is better than not taking them at all. The fibre note is the most important in my humble opinion.
    For fat soluble nutrients I typically take them with a table spoon of olive oil sublingual. If you can follow the above advice it will aid in the bodies ability to uptake these nutrients, however most people may not be able to feel the difference. For those looking to be performing at an elite athletic level in your 60's and beyond this advice is worth noting.

    Should we be buying each individual vitamin separately and taking them spaced out from each other?
    I'm taking Thorne Brand ferrasorb and the 2-a-day multivitamin atleast an hour apart from each other. Is this okay or am I doing this all wrong.

    It is horrible how behind the times most doctors and specialists are that they might still advice taking (too much) calcium. Magnesium is a different matter, people usually have a lack of that, and that is serious. Starting to take Mg up to 600 mg per day is very good for the bones, teeth and nerves. Best not oxide but another form, citrate, glycinate etc.

    • @jlea9793
      @jlea9793 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why not oxide?

    • @DutchmanAmsterdam
      @DutchmanAmsterdam ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jlea9793 The other forms are salts, which immediately dissolve in water upon which they fall apart in Mg2+ and whatever salt ions. The Mg2+ ions get easily absorbed through the gut lining in the blood and are available then for the body.
      Oxide will chemically react with the HCl stomach acid, that reaction takes a couple of minutes while some heat and hydrogen gas is produced, also oxides can be somewhat caustic, so if it were to touch your stomach lining it could theoretically do some harm, especially if it would not all react, if the tablet does not completely dissolve and enters the gut that will be worse because the gut lining is very sensitive. Once the oxide has completely reacted it will have become a salt , magnesium chloride, which is dissolved. That should be absorbable as far as I know. Just oxide doesn't dissolve immediately, it reacts in the stomach first, like a fizzy tablet. However it may still not fully react and dissolve, so I would avoid it. It is the cheapest form so most comon in the cheapest or multi tablets but magnesium citrate is quite cheap as well. The others are more expensive. I fail to see why the other more expensive ones would really be better, I'm not convinced. But I will try to find any proof of these claims. Meanwhile I opt for citrate. The same for all the other minerals I would avoid oxide because it is too course, it may not dissolve well and might very well irritate the digestive system and may get (very) poorly absorbed too.

Elemental magnesium itself is not absorbable thus always bound to something else, hence the many 'forms' of magnesium. I take magnesium glycinate because it lacks that laxative effect and the amino acide glycine is neuroprotective and helps me sleep.

    @telmeeeh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Appreciate the information you wanted to impart. But this got me confused. Most of the combinations in your list are being sold in the market together in one product. Supposedly, the manufacturers do this since they have synergistic effect taken together or one substance enhance absorption of another substance as in the case of Vit. D and K, Vit. D and Vit. E, B12 and Vit C, etc... I mean, practitioners and even studies have shown that these substances are good to be taken together to enhance absorption. Another point is, Vit. D and Vit. E are both fat-soluble and Vit. D is hard to absorb so some substances are needed for us to absorb it well like Vit. K, popularly known fatty substances like Vit. E and Vit. A, vegetable oils... Last, I also see a lot of bone-making supplements containing calcium, magnesium, Vit. D and K, etc... With all due respect, but does this mean the manufacturers didn't do their homework?

      Why are you encouraging calcium when most people are not deficient in this? Also, magnesium helps with sleep and should be taken before sleep. B12 is not effective po in most people over 40 due to the decrease in hydrochloric acid production. Either take sublingual or injectable.

    • @telmeeeh
      @telmeeeh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Katrn30 Hi Kat, are you directing your message to me or to the doctor who posted? I ask 'cuz the reply was posted under my comment If you were to ask me, well, I would not encourage taking calcium supplements unless it is warranted based on tests and with the supervision of a good health practitioner. Studies have shown that calcium supplements are not normally safe for the middle-aged (and above) due to a lot of calcium deposits already present in the tissues caused by too much acidity. If we don't consume Vit. K2 and take a lot of calcium, we might end up having heart attacks. Calcium from food is always good across all ages, I think. Also, the latest study suggests that the menopausal women should be careful taking a lot of bone-density-promoting supplements because the proper level of bone density goes with age so it's not good to have denser than is appropriate for our age bones. So as we age, we must shift our focus to the strength of our bones rather than its density because those are two different things. That's the new science as I have gathered. With regards to magnesium, taking it at bedtime is really good to relax our nervous system and promote better sleep 'cuz it promotes production of melatonin. But it can also be taken during the day, I guess taking it away from meal makes sense as it is alkaline. It does so much wonder in our bodies, does 500+ processes inside, protects your brain, your heart, your cells from damage. If a person with a chronic disease daily take at least 400mg in divided doses, provided the form one takes is highly absorbable, then he/she might be able to feel the difference.

    Thanks for the info. I have so often wondered about the significance between natural vs synthetic. In the case of ascorbic acid, the molecule is nature identical, meaning exactly the same. According to regular doctors therefore there is no difference in function. Some vitamins are not exactly the same, so the difference would be more of a concern. Natural vitamins are waayyy more expensive though. And also then, I cant find out exactly how it is being made. Why is that so hard to find out? I'll look more into it.

      I read that natural vit e is the equivalent of 3x the same dosage of synthetic.

    My argument would be, don't some foods, or combination of foods, also contain these vitamins together? Does that mean we need to be spacing out when we eat certain fermented foods, vegetables, fruits, and proteins?
