I think Miranda Lambert mentioned Heather Little in one of her many interviews. Miranda talked about "Gunpowder & Lead" how she and Heather Little wrote it. But had no idea about "Me and Charlie talking". Thanks for the heads up. From how ML talked about her, i can tell she is a brilliant writer.

I can't argue she has some amazing songs, but just once, I'd love to see someone start out singing sweet, precious songs, and continue singing them. Of course, you can't ride the success of the world on sweetness these days. Gotta stand on that devil side.

After a lot of listening I think this is my favourite of her solo songs. It encapsulates a huge number of themes, it sounds modern while still being clasic country. I can imagine Dolly Parton writing and singing this if she were a young woman starting her career these days. I love it!
I wanna know why this isn't one of her most popular songs. I've never heard it on the radio, and it's definitely radio-worthy. And I agree that Carrie and Miranda are both great. I love this song :)

teallaidh LOL, I suppose that could be a good reason. Actually, I roam from one genre of music to another, and I had been away from country music for a little while. I listened to a few of her songs, and was a bit disappointed. This song is just so different from most of her other songs. So innocent, and sweet.

This one to me is one of the best songs off what I would consider her best album - "Kerosene"...Don't get me wrong, I love all her albums, but this one to me seems more raw, more country, without all the pressures to appeal to everyone - even today in 2015. I was actually just thinking her older stuff was the most authentic country, although she is very much so country, her older stuff just is more country, we need more artists to do stuff that isn't pop country, but is authentic country, pure country.

Nah, this is just one of those 'everyman' type of songs, the kind of universal story that so many of us can identify with. There are songs with similar themes being written across the world in every culture and society in every type of music on this theme. Young love, growing up, moving on, reflecting on your youth and who you thought you were going to be as an adult. It's one of her best songs *because* it's so universal you know?

Wow, it took being a finalist on a Nashville music 'talent' show to be discovered, but now Miranda is one of the top charting country singers and still going strong in country music (besides Carrie Underwood or Kellie Pickler). She is super talented and a very beautiful Spirit (inside and out). I wish her much peace, love and happiness again. She deserves it for sure!
