It’s not a downgrade you can literally play gran Turismo on 120fps 4K with performance mode. Ps5 can only do 4K 60fps on performance. Just don’t use PSSR
@ it’s a downgrade if you use pssr I’ve already watched the video. Even on resolution/ ray tracing mode you get 4K 60fps, which the only way to get 60fps on ps5 base is putting it on performance - he was only talking about the pssr and the AI issues with the graphics. That is the downgrade and he literally says it in his title but if you simply don’t use it, you’ll get a better experience than base ps5
Genuinely could not tell any shimmering in your video watching this on my TV in 4K. Digital Foundry didn't mention it, either. Going to test it myself tonight.
Google 4k viewing distance chart, depending on the size and distance of your tv your probably not even seeing actual 4k. You might have scammed yourself by buying the pro, you should either move closer or get a bigger tv to actually benefit from the pro, it will be a night and day difference. Most people on a tv in a average living room are sitting too far to see 4k, at those massive distances you need something like 85 inch and up to see 4k. That's why 8k failed and they stopped selling them, people realized how resolution works and that 8k was actually a scam unless you buy over 120 inch tv and sit closer. To see 4k on a 55 inch tv you want to be no further then 5 feet away ideally and for 65 inch no further then 6 feet away for example.
@@Sideways_Singh everything I read on the interwebs is 100% true considering everybody's eyesight is the same so this distance from your TV has to be 100% accurate 🙄

Ray-tracing in gameplay is expensive, so they had to balance it with a lower resolution, lower resolution causes aliasing/shimmering on sub-pixel objects like the pole lines in the distance. The image quality in Resolution mode with no RT absolutely trounces on the PS5 version in gameplay when it comes to image quality.
Probably the monitor he has doesn't support HDR cause it should default on if the display supports it he would have had to turn it off after that first screen in the beginning of the video
The difference is the cars are reflected in the raytracing mode. e.g. the silver pug in the second race. It's to reflected in the none raytracing mode.
Ya I can see the shimmer. This ai upscaling with very quick motion doesnt work so well, and when its in lower quality modes like dlss balanced or performance even that has ghosting plus 2ms input latency delay added, its fine for slower paced games single player cinematic stuff to the point where it even looks better then native 4k with taa anti aliasing, like dlss quality. It should improve over time. I would just turn it off for this game, if u have a vrr display u should be getting native 4k with ray tracing at 100+ fps which is amazing. Mainly cant wait to see psvr2 graphics tho, thats the main event, that will have a night and day generational leap in graphics because the graphics arent that good in vr lots of room for improvement plus vr benefits alot from a gpu upgrade which is what the pro mainly is.

I don't see any flickering or anything like that but then again I'm watching on my phone at 1440 p. I don't have a pro to test. I don't think your video was conclusive enough.
Ray tracing on PS5 Pro makes GT7 image looks much worse. And the RT reflections aren't even as noticeable as in Forza Motorsport. Turn 10 managed RT/image better honestly.
It's a downgrade I knew it, good video I happily stayed with my base ps5. Lol. I mean what does an upscaler do(Pssr) and in general ? It takes a lower resolution so image quality gets worse and afterwards they upscale it. But the image information that's been taken out leads to a much worser image quality that's logic. What you get is a worser image with a higher framerate. Upscaling is trash. It's only good for developers because they can get even lazier. It's the same in photography when you make a photo in native 1080p and scale it down to 864p and scale the 864p up to 4k your image will look worse because you have downscaled it to 864p. The upscaling to 4k from 864p results in a worse picture. So native 1080p looks more detailed. Native is always king.
