- Back in the 2010s, we had some INSANE college players getting all the awards and breaking records, but what happened after that is actually pretty wild and kinda crazy when you think about it.
How come some of these dudes who were literally UNSTOPPABLE in college - guys who had the GREEN LIGHT OF ALL GREEN LIGHTS and were putting up numbers that were basically video game stats - ended up fighting just to keep a spot on an NBA roster, while others became exactly who we thought they'd be?
And speaking of living up to the hype... is there still hope for our boy who was supposed to be "Barkley on steroids", or are we watching another story that's not exactly going the way everyone expected?

Dougie McBuckets was the kind of kid we saw coming out and everyone said the same thing: “he’s not gonna make it”. White college stiff playing against largely mid-major talent? College analysts drool over that but the NBA typically eats them up. I’m so happy he’s done well for himself in the League.

As always your videos are S-Tier and I love how you cover so many lesser known guys. Side note, Trey Burke is one of those random NBA role-players who would always drop 30 on you in 2K. Also, people who didn't live through it will never understand the Jimmer hype, this white dude from Brigham Young had LeBron level hype and media coverage. While Jimmer definitely stunk it up in the NBA, he's quite possibly the most successful non-NBA basketball player of all time by this point. Like this dude has a legit shot at being a Hall of Famer due to his college & overseas accolades.

Evan Turner seemed to have an attitude problem. He considered retiring after he was traded to Indiana. I understand not being where you’d like to be, but he had all the potential, but instead of putting in the work to improve, his mind went to retirement. That’s reflective of his attitude overall

Evan Turner was pretty disappointing as a role player because whenever there was expectations of him as a rotational piece he underwhelmed but whenever he was counted out he thrived and he ebbed and flowed in that cycle until he fizzed out the league

Jimmer is built like a prototypical RB, which is pretty much the opposite of a prototypical NBA player. Same with Ohio HS football player of the year and former OSU PG Aaron Craft who actually had the elite athleticism that made him one of the greatest defensive players in NCAA history, and if he stuck with football may have had a better chance at an NFL career than an NBA one.

I would agree to a point, I think it depends on how much you follow either sport/know the history. People definitely still talk about the Packers under Vince Lombardi (who the superbowl trophy is named after), Johnny Unitas the QB for the Baltimore Colts, and players like Gale Sayers, Dick Butkus and Mike Ditka for my Bears. It's probably due to the fact that a lot of the records (especially with QBs) have been totally eclipsed in the last 20 or so years bc football went from primarily a run game to a passing game especially w the 49ers under Bill Walsh in the 80s. I agree that basketball is incredibly unique in that we still compare guys today to guys from the 60s/70s very often, that doesn't really happen in other sports, maaaybe baseball? but idk anything about baseball
