  • This is Saima, she has done over 70 hours of driving lessons with a driving instructor. Saima has done 1 driving test but it was during covid times, so she was only able to drive for about 5 minutes before the test was terminated as she has made 1 serious mistake. Her driving test is coming up in 2 weeks time, so she wanted to see how she would get on.

    I think some people in the comments forget what it's like to be a learner driver. I for one took 5 attempts to pass my driving test. I've now been driving 5 years. Some people learn at different paces. I know I failed because I got anxious and rushed things and made silly mistakes. Learning to drive is a massive scary thing. Well said. Same as you it took me 5 goes to pass but I have now been driving officially for 4 years and I am a very good driver. I see SO many bad drivers on the road, every car journey. The amount of times it takes to pass your test doesn't mean you are a bad driver and passing first time doesn't make you a better driver, as you are still learning even after you have passed.

    Better to go for Automatic when there are clutch issues even after 50 hours of driving. Also, her Instructor has to address the weak areas and make her work more on those specific ones.
    Few are so worried about Gearbox 🤷‍♀️, well she could have been stopped anytime rather than doing a mock test for 30 mins if that’s a major concern.

    I always tell new learner drivers to always try to have several lessons with 2/3 different driving instructors (at the early stages) so they can spot bad habits and encourage the learner to fix the issues before they become a problem. Some instructors are milking learners and if you've had 70 hours of driving lessons and the learner doesn't understand the basics such as gears, signaling, signs, and who has priority on the roads then change driving instructors immediately!
    FYI - the poor gearbox had a rough day that day. :(

    • @rdu239
      @rdu239 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I say instructors should be very finicky and fiddle with the learners at the first days in the driving lessons, instilling them the importance of driving basics as early as possible. I've had heard learners doing decent progress and when in at their final day in driving lesson a very stern and pedantic instructor happens to be their final assessor and just exposed learner's faults too much, basically almost throwing every previous days worth of driving lessons he got with pretty good ratings. That assessor almost gave the person a low grade if not for the learner begged his way out.

    Im highly dyslexic and dyspraxic. Back 14 years ago when i was learning to drive i was told consistently by my first instructor that it will take me years of lessons to pass. I use to hate my lessons with her. My mum then got the number for another local instructor. After four lessons with him i passed my test. He was more like you, calm, concise and clear, whereas my first one loved to shout at and belittle me which made me anxious and in turn make mistakes. Ive now been driving for 14 years and love driving and am usually the one driving everyone everywhere

    I had about 40 hours of driving lessons and was really nervous about not passing, my driver instructor was so confident in me but I was not confident in myself to pass first time not even six months after being 17. Anyway I did it with only three minors! The driving test itself was really easy and just treat it as another driving lesson, the guy who I had was really nice and we made conversation so it wasn’t awkward. I even made a few mistakes, he made me do a hill start but I rolled back a tiny bit and then my manoeuvre was a reverse bay park. I thought I failed on it but luckily I didn’t, I’ve now been out driving on my own and also with friends. It’s very scary at first but I promise it’s worth it!

      @@Saimaavlogs i think people are too comfortable being negative behind a screen and don't necessarily think the learner will see the comments.
      I agree with this comment, you can drive, and were really good on the slower roads, it was mainly the faster ones and the roundabouts for the bigger issuss! I think you just need specific help from a good instructor, who explains things well. The mistakes all stemmed from the same base imo (gears mainly) so once thats tackled hopefully the rest will follow! Best of luck, let us know when you pass!
      I also find it helpful to have a lesson journal of sorts & after them i write down good points, things to improve on points and what i should focus on in the next week/if i can search anything in between which may help in the next one. This may help you as well 😌

    She is a learner and she is making mistakes which hopefully she will learn from. She has made dangerous mistakes but again she is a learner and she needs to make these mistakes to learn. Aman is great teacher as she watched her but at the same time she done all observations to ensure safety hence why she continued with the test, she wanted her to have a full driving test experience & I think that is very good of her to provide that level of practical teaching even though the learner posed risks.

    Hmm, massively questionable as to how she has learnt to drive so far! Seriously needs accredited, fully qualified driving instructor lessons, and perhaps it would lend her well to learn to drive in an automatic rather than manual! That way, she should then build confidence and enough knowledge about how a car operates and how to read signs to then be ready for her test. Lots more work required before she even considers putting in for her test. This mock test very quickly turned into an actual lesson! Wow, I could not be an instructor, I really don’t think I’d have the patience! Hats off to all of these amazing instructors!!!

    It’s quite interesting watching these videos, and how people handle spiral roundabouts. That’s my weakest thing and I’ve been driving for years. Keep up the good work.
    Someone probably needs to clarify to Saima that she shouldn’t put the car into 1st unless she is stationary or, at a push, moving below 5mph, but even that isn’t ideal as there is no synchromesh in 1st and it could damage the gear teeth. Certainly releasing the clutch on 1st gear, when moving at speed isn’t going to do the clutch any favours.
    I doubt she had 70+ hours from a trained driving instructor.
    I can imagine Aman gets through several clutches with every car she has. 😃
