When Rhett said "in the same vein, but a totally different direction" and Link rebutted with "thats called an artery", he alluded to the fact that arteries essentially go in a different direction than veins.

When I was 14 I was sleeping over at my best friend’s house. Her bedroom was in the basement (finished basement, it wasn’t creepy). I had a dream that I was sitting at the bottom of the stairs and she was floating at the top, like she was swimming through air. She was swimming very slowly and there was an aura of light around her. It was like she was moving toward me but also never getting any closer. Although it’s impossible to say, it felt like the dream lasted all night. When I woke up, she was already awake and she IMMEDIATELY told me she had a dream that I was sitting cross legged at the base of the stairs and she was at the top floating toward me. It freaked me out SO much at the time that I started crying. 26 years later and I still remember the dream perfectly and get chills every time I think about it.
EDIT: I’d like to point out, in many cases people tell someone something happened and then that person confirms it. In my case, I had just woke up and hadn’t said anything about my dream. I’m not saying anyone is lying in other situations, just pointing out that in my case, unlike most, she talked about it before I did.

Scariest thing that happened to me was getting Ecoli when I was 22 years old. It was the most pain I’ve ever been in. Pooping blood, stomach on fire, HORRIBLE cramping. I was in the hospital for four days. Apparently I had a viral type of Ecoli that they couldn’t DO ANYTHING ABOUT. It wasn’t bacterial, so there was nothing they could give me to make the virus go away. So all they could do was pump me with fluids and morphine and hope for the best. I had disease control people calling me on the phone, FREAKING OUT, trying to figure out where I got it from. The nurses had to wear full gown and mask gear, I was quarantined. They never did figure out where I got it from. Apparently if I hadn’t been a very healthy 22 year old, I might have DIED. I made it through but holy moly, I hope I never experience anything like that again.

When I was 18 my dad died in my house. I’m almost 20 now and every morning at 5:45 (when he would get up for work) I hear his footsteps coming down the hallway. I have his ashes in my house and I hear him scratching on the counter that his ashes are on. Then at 6:30 (when he’d leave) I hear a distinct 2 knocks on my door. He worked mon-fri. And guess what? It never happens on weekends. True story.

Our minds are built to seek out patterns, especially faces- so when we look into the darkness we scan around for distinguishable faces and movement. I always freak myself out with corner-of-my-eye stuff. I scare myself often by just roaming around my apartment in the dark like going from the bathroom to the kitchen or my bedroom. I think if I ever properly saw a ghost I must have blocked it out of my mind because if I ever saw anything even half as real as the things I imagine I would just exit reality- no thank you cya later.

That's why some kids say freaky things, have sleep paralysis a lot, and have imaginary friends. So one day my mom goes down to do laundry and as shes putting the laundry in the dryer the music box starts playing startled she looked towards the music box, which was now out of the desk sitting beside the rocking chair which was rocking back and forth like someone was in it. When I was a kid the cupboards would also randomly open and slam, eventually we got rid of the music box and rocking chair and the weird stuff stopped

I also had sleep paralysis. I used to see a demonic, humaniod female figure every night when I fell asleep. She would choke me, push down on my chest until I felt my ribs crack, and break my legs. And as crazy as it sounds, I felt the pain. Even tho it may have been all in my head, I swear I felt it. My chest would be bruised in the morning, and I would have scratch marks on my wrists. And the worst part was,
    I couldn't move.
The paranoia got so bad that I didn't sleep anymore, I would see her during the day in crowds, in mirrors, I would hear her hiss at me. I discounted the hissing a first. You see, I have a large boa (snake) that has a deformed nose so she makes a hissing sound when she breathes. But I knew it wasn't her when I heard the hissing in my room upstairs. My boa is downstairs.
I didn't tell my little brother about it, he was very young and easily frightened. I knew if I told him he would start to see his own version of this thing too.
But one day he was complaining of a horrible nightmare. When I asked him about what his dream was about, he described the demonic being I saw in my dreams to a T.
    This wasn't just a dream.
It was then that I realized this thing was probably real, and an actual danger to me and my little brother.
My mom cleansed both of our rooms the following morning, and we've never had the problem since

One time my mom woke me up because I was lying face down in my pillows. My mom doesn't typically react the right way in these types of scenarios so when I woke up she was really groggy and she just calmly told me (a 5-year-old me btw) that she thought I had died and suffocated myself in my pillows. Me being 5 was just like, wait you can die from pillows? and fell back asleep. I still am just shocked at how calm my mom reacted tho lol.

I was 10 years old playing on the upper bunk bed minding my own business when something (a feeling) made me look behind me to the wall across from the bunk beds where we had a wall length mirror. Because of the mirror I could see the bottom bed and as I stared I noticed that there was a dent on the mattress as if someone was sitting there. The second I noticed it it popped back up (even the springs made a sound) so I climbed down so fast and ran to my parents. To this day I'm certain there was a ghost in that one house.

Hey Rhett, it's called orthostatic hypotension, a form of low pressure caused by suddenly getting up from a sitting or lying position. Basically you get up so quickly that the blood on your lower body doesn't have enough time to reach your brain and you could pass out from it although most people just get dizzy. This happens to me all the time.

  • @Gravy65
    @Gravy65 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I missed this one when it came out. I'd really like to talk to Rhett with my experiences with, what I believe to be a haunted house that the majority of my first 21 years were in, and my sleep paralysis. Then my experiences after moving out, and having another 21 years in different houses. (and my parent's new house, and it's still hauntedness). He has a lot of questions/points that I've gone through, and answered with myself as no place I've lived in has had the feelings/experiences my childhood home had, even though I had a creepy 100 year old house with an unfinished basement.

  • @meganrussell5484
    @meganrussell5484 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Pt. 3 There are many more "awake" experiences, but when Rhett and Link brought up sleep paralysis, it brought back the terrifying remembrance of the experience I can only think was exactly that. I was in my room now. My room was the only one in the basement and was built sharing a wall with the stairs. It did not have windows (which, we are now very aware that is not up to building code for a room. I don't live there anymore). I was asleep and suddenly awoke unable to move. I could hear what my brain created as a "Demon" slowly walking up and down the stairs, running his long claws against the wall. As it took the 3rd and final round down to the bottom of the stairs, I could hear them turn and start walking towards my door. As I looked down across my feet to the opening under the door, I saw the shadows of a body on the other side. Breathing heavily and unable to move or scream, I heard the scratching again, this time on my door. In my head I could hear them saying "Let me in. Let me in. Let me in." I started to struggle, but unfortunately don't remember waking up or how it ended. I do however, remember the terror of being helpless. I had a couple experiences of sleep paralysis, but this is the one that I remember most vividly.

I'm the one with the story of the dip in the bed, I decide to take that story, because I got like 10 different stories and decided to take the harmless one. It was in the middle of the day, a summer day and I was alone, I passed my bedroom because I went to the kitchen to make something to eat and I saw the dip and watched what was happening, but after getting made fun of by Link I decide I will tell you the worst story I have. And it includes my dog. English is my 4th langauge so no complaining and I'm 25 now, that happened when I was about 19/20, so no one can call me hormonal again.
I went to sleep and my dog usually sleeps on the bed with me. She always lies between my feet, she doesn't like to be cuddled while sleeping. Then like she got hit she jumped, went up the bed to lie between my arms and she kept looking up. The fear in her eyes I will never forget. I still had the lights on at this point, because I was reading so I automatically looked up and saw nothing. I thought maybe there's a spider, a bug or something. There was no scratching noise coming from the wall. Even if it was an animal, my dog would want to hunt it. So the fear was real and not towards an animal.
I tried to stay calm and told myself its probably that my dog got startled by something. My dog lied down after a while and I believed it's over, so I switched the light off and tried to sleep. The moment my room was dark my dog started to whine and lifted her head again, and here I admit I may imagine stuff, but I was convinced that someone was watching me and breathing on me. At some point my dog was about to bark but she didn't.
That went for another night, and then I told my mom about it. And then another night, of me not sleeping a wink and my dog being scared and restless, my mom came with holy water and the whole stuff and did something in my room. And then that night nothing. My dog went back to sleep on top of my feet like nothing happened and I was still scared shitless.
My family believes in ghost and the likes, I grew up with tarot cards and stuff, so I take it kinda personal when someone tells me I'm imagine stuff, when I get anxious over that shit. I had a phase when I walked home from school, I had the feeling someone was following me and I kept turning around but there was never someone. I told my mom that and she looked at me weirdly and said to never turn around. Or more often than I would like to, I always see something from the corner of my eyes, a flashing of white, and that happens when I'm not thinking of scary stuff, that happens when I finally don't feel anxoius over shit.

I use to also wake up in my room there with nosebleeds which is something I’ve NEVER had outside of the campus and haven’t til this day. I’ve been out of there for 3 years and have never had a nose bleed since. My first two years I had the same room- my 3rd year I had a room on a different side of the building and never had sleep paralysis there or ever again. I would see the shadow figure :( he would come up to me and become a cloud of darkness on top of me holding me down and taking my breath. I would wake up crying and gasping for air. My roommate also said she once thought she saw something at the foot of my bed but when she turned on the lights nothing was there :( that place really scares me- specifically the dorms on the side of the building where I experienced this.

I've had sleep paralysis many times (though not in a few years thankfully) and I always see something scary. A dark mass on the ceiling, a giant insect on the bookcase beside my bed, and once many years ago, a tall cloaked, hooded figure standing in the room, in the doorway facing out, and the hood fell back and it was a giant eyeball, complete with larger-than-normal, grotesquely-shaped optic nerves coming out the back of it, which formed a kind of neck that went down into the cloak.
When I learned that sleep paralysis was a thing (I didn't know before that, and wondered about my sanity, though I never actually thought what I was seeing was real), I was able to remember what it really was when I awoke and saw something, and it didn't take long after that for it to stop.

but sleep paralysis means you can’t move or speak aka you couldn’t yell at it. that’s the whole “paralysis” part. either your story is a bit exaggerated, it was a dream, OR that was a real demon/entity and you legit thought it was just sleep paralysis and yelled at a real spirit 😭😭

Throughout my life, I had felt exactly like Link. I was terrified of the potential of these things existing. My younger brother, very much the opposite, shared a room with me. In high school, we moved to a house that was built on the site where my parents' church used to be. My family was more comforted by this than worried. After some time though, my brother, again the less susceptible of the two of us, started describing being consistently "haunted" by what he believed was a demon. Both he and my mom described having their feet touched at night, their blankets pulled off of them, seeing dark figures, and that general uneasiness like you're being watched. Eventually he taped a bunch of scripture to the bottom of my bed and they invited someone to "bless" the house which seemed to make it stop for them. The situation has always sort of confused me. We shared a bunk bed, he slept 4 feet below me and I never experienced a thing. Now, I'm more jealous of his experience than afraid haha

This story gave me serious goosebumps! Something about the thought of a demon hanging around a demolished church is horrifying

This is cool. Nice way to set a scary theme, I like it.

I fell asleep to this and dreamt i house sat for Link's family. The dream felt lucid dream-y so i consciously tidied up the office and walked around. Still heard the episode at times too. Woke up from my partner coming home from work right as i took Jade out for a walk.

I've never seen a ghost, personally. But when it comes up, I usually steer the conversation toward UFO's eventually, because I haven't seen one of those either and the two seem oddly related to me in that way.

12:51 distinctly not distinctively. That’s another Merriam Webster discussion for another time. 🤣

For me, the scariest experience for me was back in October 2011, me and my parents visit the Johnstown Flood Museum. When you get there they ask you to go to the 3rd floor to watch a documentary on the flood (31 May 1889). We were the only ones in the cinema on the 3rd floor. As we watched the documentary, I felt two hard kicks to my lower back! No one else was there as I looked around and demanded "Who kicked me?" Ever since then, I have had extreme back pain and actual damage to my back visible in x-rays and MRI. No doctor believes me that I was kicked by a ghost. Who else could it have been? My parents did not and would not do that to me. I've had other ghost encounters but only one that caused damage.

I've noticed that people who have seen or believe in ghosts are the ones who believe in a higher power. The ones who have not seen anything, don't believe in anything. I'm the first, my boyfriend is the second. So idk if that has anything to do with it.

Don't think so. I don't believe in God/a higher power but I've experienced things.

No it’s only people who believe in ghosts who think they see them. When I was a kid I thought I saw ghosts all the time but once I realized they aren’t real I have not had any experiences period. Just their mind playing tricks 😁
