I’m convinced some of these people have undiagnosed Anxiety or ADHD. The “what you say” thing is a huge sign of auditory processing disorder, a common issue with ADHD. (I have both, so speaking from personal experience only)
@Kingsley P they definitely work, but it depends on the combo you’re prescribed (it can take some time to find the right ones for you). I recommend going through the diagnostic process, because even if you choose to not go the medication route, a formal diagnosis can provide you with the right path of coping skills. There are therapists that specialize in ADHD and other things that especially with a formal diagnosis could really help re-frame your thought process and actions, helping you understand how to use the way your brain works to your advantage. I’ve been on meds for 10 years and it was the right choice for me, but that doesn’t make it right for everyone! Weed may depend on what meds you’re placed on.
It's also common with people who are insecure. They use it as a stalling tactic so they can come up with a reply while you repeat yourself. It becomes a habit after a while since they do it since childhood and they don't even remember why they started doing it.

I know your comment is a little old but I hope it helps you!
41:53 This could be an auditory processing thing! Even though you hear it, you don’t process it in time, so you ask them to repeat what they’ve said and realize while they’re repeating that you’ve actually already heard them perfectly clear. It’s something that I do all the time and I hate it.
Rhett, my dad always used to tell me "You don't go fishing *expecting* to catch a bunch of fish. That's why its called fishing and not catching." The meditative aspect is as much a part of it as the sportsmanship.
so we went camping... my brother was like 5 or 6 and he asked my dad why the cricket was rubbing its legs together and my dad said that they do that when they're thinking. later that day we found my brother sitting on a rock and he was rubbing his legs together and we were like "what are you doing?" and he just goes "thinking." 😂😂😂
That's *ADORABLE!* haha Kids are hilarious. Side bar: I remember my boyfriend's little sister (3yo and constantly funny and adorable) was asking me (17yo at the time) what the fuzzy things in the fridge were. I said, "They're kiwis, love." "Kiwis?? What's that? Can I eat one?" "Let's ask your mom first." Her mom said that she could have one later. She seemed sad and we went to watch TV. She walked over with us, sat down for a bit, and after only a minute, I thought, "It's too quiet." Next thing I know, she's walking out of the kitchen, chewing something. Her mom said, "Wait! What do you have?" It only took a second to see the kiwi in her hand with a chunk bitten out of it. Her mom laughed and said, "Noooo, you can't eat it like that, my love!" Still chewing, open mouth, she replied, "Why not?" We didn't have an answer. haha I know now that it's fine. But that memory is hilarious.
I can speak with my mouth closed too, and I was thinking it might be similar to a ventriloquist. It's different though because a ventriloquist makes their voice sound like they are talking normal, or like it could be coming from the dummy. They have their lips open with their teeth closed. Speaking with your mouth completely closed doesn't sound like that. It sounds like it's coming from inside your mouth. It wouldn't pass for coming from a dummy.
I had a girlfriend once, with her for years, one day while face timing on fb she lifted her leg and bit off her toenail. She looked not unlike an opossum. I was SHOOK.
Am I weird because I have watched every episode of GMM/More twice. Even that eye twitching 3:00 hour long “Thank you” to the fans episode. I’m working on these Ear Biscuits, now.
I love this podcast bc I feel the purpose of it is to create meaningful and entertaining content. Rather than just funny content. Too many podcasts try to hard to be funny and rely on comedy as the sole thing to keep people interested. Don’t get me wrong, Rhett and Link are incredibly funny, but I will be hooked for an hour listening to some of their podcasts, not laugh once, and still be so interested. That’s good content to me
Watching movies more than once: I used to watch a movie for the first time, love it, and immediately watch it a couple more times. To judge how long ago I did this, such movies were "Dude, Where's My Car" and "A Walk to Remember" when I was a teenager. High brow tastes. ;) As a child, I fell for "Grease" and must have watched it... close to a hundred times in bits and pieces and entire viewings. I hadn't seen it in YEARS (decade or more?) so I watched it a couple of months ago. Still know all the words. Now... I have a tendency to watch various series many times. Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Star Wars, etc. Am in the midst of watching all The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies again. I don't watch as many movies as I once did, however. I tend to become addicted to TV shows and watch them. In the middle of both "The Flash" and "Arrow" right now. Yet, I paused to start watching "Castle" again which I've seen one and a half times already. Someone watched the second half of the series with me, fell in love with it, and had me rewatch the first half with them. GMM - I've watched MANY of the same episodes multiple times. Buddy System - just finished watching both seasons again. I take comfort in rewatching things. Especially when it's something I really love. At the same time, I love finding something new. When I discovered my love of Harrison Ford (4 or more years back) while watching "Indiana Jones" for the first time, I bought everything he had made. Only ended up not liking one or two of his movies. He's my favourite actor. There are two I haven't seen yet - they're in my cupboard. "Apocalypse Now" is one. Same goes for Tom Cruise who I started watching last year. Still buying his movies bit by bit. I discovered a certain Mythical duo and he got sidelined while I binge-watched the shit ton of content they have. Have to start Ear Biscuits marathons so I can be caught up on everything.
I tend to ask people to repeat themselves when I know what they said often to buy myself more time to think. It gives me an abundance of time to figure out how I want to respond although I am a better talker now than I used to be and dont really need it as much anymore.
I rub my feet together when I'm comfortable or when I'm laying down. It's an unconscious thing that was actually pointed out to me. I also have ADHD - C, so fidgeting or stimming in any way is very common and normal. 🙂
My family growing up always had kielbasa, fried potatoes, baked beans, with cottage cheese. And the saltiness of the beans with the creamy nature of the cottage cheese is super tasty.
Everyone is weird in their own way. Since I was a baby I have loved knots. My mom went to a pediatrician once when I was little and they said there may have been something inside of my mom when I was inside of her that had a "knot" that I rubbed with my fingers that brought me comfort. I am 39 and I still do it. Has to be a certain kind of knot, shirt buttons tend to work and feel the best, I rub it between my fingers, on my knuckle, etc. When I was a kid I would rub it on my top lip when I sucked my thumb (double whammy weird lol). I do it when I'm worried, sick, stressed - but always only in bed before or during sleep. IDK it just brings me comfort and relaxes me. Sounds weird to you. Sounds completely acceptable to me - cuz it's my thing lol.
To the guy that ask's what was said even after hearing it. You have a language disorder. Its a small delay and by the middle of asking "what was that?" you know what they said. It was probably alot worse before you hit 13 but it's just a tiny delay and many people are born with it. It's not weird and it's ok. My son has it and because of it he felt stupid and he isn't stupid or weird .It just takes a small second for his brain to understand what was said. Look at it like a studder but for the brain listening instead of a mouth speaking. Its coming just wait.
I actually printed myself and my friend a t-shirt with "just yourself be if weird is you". Link even remembering (t)his quote from all the way back to seasons one or two is amazing to me.
I say “what” a lot after someone is done talking even if I heard it too. It really does just come out, it’s not like I’m consciously choosing to say it. If I do really hear it I respond immediately after saying “what”
I can watch movies & tv shows over & over. I’ve watched every Star Trek Voyager episode (in order) about 6 times. Same with Frasier. And they never get old
I'm the same way. I read an article about a study that found that people with anxiety (raises hand) are more prone to do this. Something about the lack of surprise is comforting.
I do the thing where I have to look up the ending to stuff, but only with extremely dramatic or scary movies and shows. I know I have a lot of anxiety 🤪 so watching suspenseful stuff is SO overwhelming and so its easier to enjoy the show when I’m not worried about what’s gonna happen
Thanks for the open discussion on normalizing being weird and having odd habits etc. When I first heard this prompt in the Biscuit I won't lie as a quiet creative introvert I was low-key feeling "attacked" for a split second. Lol. I do find myself participating in some quirky, controlled and odd ball habits. Nothing to speak of specifically that's really worthy of note. I am weird. Can't deny that one lol. I will mention one slightly weird habit from my husband. (Sorry babe lol.) David likes to wear his socks with his heels sticking out when he lies down on top of the bed relaxing reading a book or looking at his phone etc. It just eats at my soul. I don't know why it bothers me so. I try to divert my eyes and not think about it. He says he does it because it simply makes him feel comfortable. That's fine. Do you and do whatever makes you feel comfortable but it makes my skin crawl. Help! 😆
Love how link doesn't understand how tv fishing just doesn't have enough content to truly make a show. Well hey, you guys always got something good for us to see! ♡ Much love to yea!
If a movie or book is particularly stressful or scary I do have to skip to the end or google the ending to assure myself that it all works out okay and then I can finish it so I find that one relatable. I don’t do it with everything though.
I have rubbed my feet together to fall asleep since I was really little. I think it’s a self soothing thing.I have also had RLS since I was really young and I definitely think it connected to RLS and anxiety.
Thanks for the topic! I’m sure a lot of us ask ourselves this question or already know we are and are ok with it. All about self acceptance and it seems in the world we live in today weird is becoming the norm. We’re all different and come from different walks of life and anyone who may judge just wants everyone to do things the way they do and believe the way they do things is the right way when sometimes theirs many approaches to doing many things. Thanks for sharing, look forward to watching you guys most every day, is that weird? lol 😂 If it is then call me weird.
*Rhett imitates little toddler talking to big bass, in the cutest voice* R: "If you can bring a baby that can talk to the fish, that's the kind of thing I would be into." Lol, cute quality content!
Well I’ll be....... my wife does the “having to know the ending” so much I haven’t gone to a theater in 14yrs and use to make me so 😡 Cause I live for the unknown surprise
I am the total opposite of Rhett, I eat the same stuff, I rewatch the same tv shows, same movies, same stuff at restaurants, I am way more comfortable doing the same stuff everyday.
i get that thing about googling tv show plots before you watch them, but i don't do it quite to that extent. it's really just with scary/suspenseful shows/movies that i have to know what's gonna happen.
I had a student who started every question she had with "Wait. What?" I used to call her out on it when she was teen. But as far as the need to know the ending thing, I relate. I've never minded knowing the end to a movie but when my anxiety and OCD manifested in my thirties and drove me to therapy, I am uncomfortable watching a dramatic film if I don't know the end. I can't explain it to my husband. Knowing the end will help me enjoy the film. I don't do it with books, so much.
Hahahahaha Rhett presuming we don't see Mando's face in the first season and Link getting so frustrated wanting to correct him but as vaguely as possible is my dynamic with drunk people at parties
when Rhett said he used to put his finger nails in between his teeth, you had no idea how happy that made me felt, thought i was alone - also i used my finger nails to get food out my teeth, bc i don't own floss in my house
My kid would always go to the pasta drawer and grab some and eat it, every day for years. So weird. I could not get him to stop, he's 18 and still does it.
Min 23-ish: Due to global pandemic times forcing my being indoors for 97-ish% of the last nine months, each time I have been out, I have sneezing fits which had been sending me into a panic thinking I had caught coronavirus! I'm in Texas, and allergy season (nearly year-round) really made me worry thinking I had full-blown covid-19 because I often have fever, head and body aches associated... I didn’t, thank goodness.
It seemed like at the end they didn't want to end the conversation because they were having fun. Thank you for a very entertaining #earbiscuits episode. Just yourself be if weird is you. :)
I just painted The Dude. Maw in law came over and was like "Who's that grubby guy in the housecoat “ My hubs lost his shit. I thought he was gonna disown her but that would not be very dudely of him so we smoked and watched. RIP Donny love you forever.
Asking someone what they said even though they heard it is a processing delay thing. Sometimes you hear it but didn't understand until moments after you say "what" or "huh?" and that is probably why it is common with kids. Kids are often partially distracted and they also need more time to process. I do think it does become an automatic phrase for some people though and they do not realize they are doing it in the moment.
The "huh" problem happens with severe ADHD, sometimes I am listening to someone but my brain won't focus on what they are saying so I have to have them repeat it

39:09 I agree with Link, that saying there is a twist or huge reveal in something is a spoiler. It changes the viewing experience for sure, and not for the better imo when you’re constantly looking for the twist or to appear (or for subtle cues/clues about the twist beforehand).
Imo you’re not able to simply sit back and enjoy/absorb the movie, as a first-time experience as the director/artists intended. The fact that Rhett agrees, that watching a movie for the 2nd time knowing the twist/huge reveal is a different experience, illustrates my point. *I want to be completely blindsided and my mind blown by a plot twist/reveal, not expecting it the whole time.*
TL;dr
Yes. That there is a twist can in itself be a twist.
I might not particularly mind, but it’s DEFINITELY a form of spoiling
Every time Rhett says “spoiler alert” I say in my head “spoilerlerler alert”. (Link mocked him in an episode of GMM.)

There are therapists that specialize in ADHD and other things that especially with a formal diagnosis could really help re-frame your thought process and actions, helping you understand how to use the way your brain works to your advantage.

It's also common with people who are insecure. They use it as a stalling tactic so they can come up with a reply while you repeat yourself. It becomes a habit after a while since they do it since childhood and they don't even remember why they started doing it.

It just eats at my soul. I don't know why it bothers me so. I try to divert my eyes and not think about it. He says he does it because it simply makes him feel comfortable. That's fine. Do you and do whatever makes you feel comfortable but it makes my skin crawl. Help! 😆
Rhett and I have the same bedroom habits, no touching when sleeping, sleeping on the side of the bed furthest from the door, no feet touching me.
Love how link doesn't understand how tv fishing just doesn't have enough content to truly make a show.
Well hey, you guys always got something good for us to see! ♡ Much love to yea!
I love spoilers, makes me want to watch more.
6:38 rhett casually insults half of the world
If a movie or book is particularly stressful or scary I do have to skip to the end or google the ending to assure myself that it all works out okay and then I can finish it so I find that one relatable. I don’t do it with everything though.
I like cottage cheese with a rough chopped tomato and salt & pepper.
@@pratham_k19 Thanks for the rec!
That sounds so good
This podcast eases my anxiety. Thanks guys
I have rubbed my feet together to fall asleep since I was really little. I think it’s a self soothing thing.I have also had RLS since I was really young and I definitely think it connected to RLS and anxiety.
I used to watch fishing with my grandpa I miss doing that it's not same without him
Thanks for the topic!
*Rhett imitates little toddler talking to big bass, in the cutest voice*
R: "If you can bring a baby that can talk to the fish, that's the kind of thing I would be into."
Lol, cute quality content!
I admire the different facets of Link and Rhett's musicality.
"accidental whey" - most underrated joke of the episode
Well I’ll be....... my wife does the “having to know the ending” so much I haven’t gone to a theater in 14yrs and use to make me so 😡
Cause I live for the unknown surprise
Good way to get some diverse topics, very entertaining.
I am the total opposite of Rhett, I eat the same stuff, I rewatch the same tv shows, same movies, same stuff at restaurants, I am way more comfortable doing the same stuff everyday.
Yes, you guys are and that's why we like you guys.
i get that thing about googling tv show plots before you watch them, but i don't do it quite to that extent. it's really just with scary/suspenseful shows/movies that i have to know what's gonna happen.
Hahahahaha Rhett presuming we don't see Mando's face in the first season and Link getting so frustrated wanting to correct him but as vaguely as possible is my dynamic with drunk people at parties
when Rhett said he used to put his finger nails in between his teeth, you had no idea how happy that made me felt, thought i was alone
-
also i used my finger nails to get food out my teeth, bc i don't own floss in my house
I've rewatched all the Marvel movies maybe 6 times each.
I love when Link gets nerdy and Rhett tamper his excitement and Link gets worked up.
I am weird cuz I still sleep with my teddy bear I had since I was 5
33 years of sleeping with one teddy bear
My kid would always go to the pasta drawer and grab some and eat it, every day for years. So weird. I could not get him to stop, he's 18 and still does it.
Min 23-ish: Due to global pandemic times forcing my being indoors for 97-ish% of the last nine months, each time I have been out, I have sneezing fits which had been sending me into a panic thinking I had caught coronavirus! I'm in Texas, and allergy season (nearly year-round) really made me worry thinking I had full-blown covid-19 because I often have fever, head and body aches associated... I didn’t, thank goodness.
I’ve watched the “why” moment like 500 times now
Same 😂
54:28 bless you Rhett , I completely relate with the allergies . Mine have been extra horrible this year as well... Hang in there buddy :)
needed this. love you guys. you help more people than you know
It seemed like at the end they didn't want to end the conversation because they were having fun.
My dad would eat cottage cheese with catalina dressing, which I do as well. It tangy and I think tastes good.
Me reading the title before watching the video:
“...yes.”
👁👄👁
The "huh" problem happens with severe ADHD, sometimes I am listening to someone but my brain won't focus on what they are saying so I have to have them repeat it
What makes it under severe adhd? I have add but was never diagnosed as severe
Link; cold cottage cheese with a little salt and pepper is prime eating. Also the “nodules” are the curds. Cheese curds.
I sleep with an adorable piggy ever night I can't sleep in my bed without it.
Baked beans and cottage cheese(or cheddar) is pretty much the only vegetarian topping available for a baked potato in the UK.
Watching bass fishing sounds infinitely more entertaining than watching golf
I totally do the foot rubbing thing and I usually do the movie/show thing if it is really suspenseful or scary lol.
Wish I was able to hear these podcasts when they happen
You guys should try "noodles and pot cheese" aka a warm, savory pasta and cottage cheese dish
does anyone do the "what?" thing around 43 min that has adhd? sometimes i just need another second to process!!
I don’t have adhd but do think I have an audio processing disorder
Any updates on that second house you guys rented together?
What's it being used for?
Im pretty sure its being used as an office
