How to install Beadboard Panelling, Guest bedroom makeover

- This week I started the guest bedroom makeover, with the help of my brother we installed beadboard panelling to the walls. I will share how to install headboard panelling. I love how the panelling turned out and it was easier to do than we thought. I love the cottage style, farmhouse feels that the panelling gives.
I picked up the wood packets from woodies.ie they do not have these on their website but they are in store. I also picked up my moulding for the top piece from there.
I used Colortrend primer and I used the colour "Spring Tide" in a Satin finish.

Haya. I love panelling gives such a warm feel & then the added personal touch of the paint & all the other pieces that tie a room together. Your room looks so inviting & cosy. I said before that I am having renovations done, for the most part the huge jobs are now done, just a gazillion amount of painting, floor laying, moving the furniture & getting all the bity things finished. I think you did a great job. a Wooden bed frame would be good.. It will give it that shabby chic you like so much...Get a nice mirror with a shabby chic frame, some fresh tulips because spring is around the corner and the trunk at the bottom of the bed will be awesome with a throw over it...........much love...MINDY

Love the colour on the wood, very soft. Keep an eye open for mirrors in charity shops, you could always buy a square or rectangle one and add wood strips to give it the look of a window. I always enjoy your videos, lovely job!

You could add decorative trim to your wardrobe doors and maybe some floral decals. That would look nice. Maybe a hanging lamp in the corner. Great job on the paneling! 🙌👍👏

A wonderful job as always. I love bead board. I think in such a small room, that wall paper might be too busy, unless the print is very small and sparse and the back ground color very close to the wall color. A mirror on one wall is an excellent idea. The brackets you have on the shelves, I would change to wooden brackets. You have wonderful taste so I am certain it will be cosy, warm and inviting. Lovely! I would put a small vanity (on the wall to right of doorway) with bench and mirror above it so that guests can sit and style hair & put on makeup. With a pretty small wastebasket. Above the radiator, beautiful French Country wall shelves with your little dainties on them-Etsy has some pretty ones.
Love the room and the colour is amazing. I think small corner wall shelves by the bed (headboard) with tiny lamps would be great for your guests. It would give nice evening lighting and a spot for your phone or a cup of water. Love your videos.

😇💗 Hi Catherine, The week just flew by, I absolutely L 💗 VE the wood paneling to your guest bedroom. It gives it a beach vibe, and cottage look to it as well.

It looks great, Catherine💕 If you do get a bed frame that you can see under, then you could use the space underneath as storage by putting some baskets underneath, or crates; and to make them more accessible, you could put some wheels under them. Mr Carrington had these shelf brackets that hung from the top in his recent kitchen makeover videos, and he said they were from amazon, I think. Those were a bit industrial looking though, but it is a style of bracket worth looking into as it is just a bit different. But, I have to say that if you ever sell your house, whoever buys it next will be so lucky because you've put a lot of effort into improving it and it has come out great.

I love how often you change up your home. The decorations of the main space of the home I grew up in hasn’t changed in over a decade.
Staggering those shelves might help the room feel bigger in addition to a mirror like you talked about
I’ll wait to see what you have in mind for headboard but for now the bead board is doing a nice job 😀 also for a small shelf on the wall by the bed would be cute, I like the ones Alexandra Gater used its a small wood piece then it’s hung with 2 straps of, she used leather super simple. A little space for a small glass of water or to put your glasses at night. I absolutely love the room so dainty 🥰
Nice job! Would have loved to see your process to cut around receptacles and such. That's always a challenge for me.
It turned out gorgeous as always!!! I agree with the higher bed frame to see the wood floors underneath and the window mirror would be the perfect touch, you can reuse those shelves you have on the wall now, just repaint them and use different wrought iron brackets to bring in that French country look

Hi, Catherine, you’ve both done a super job with the cladding and the colour is one of my favourites! It goes so well with anything pink or white and looks very ‘French’ . Instead of putting up wallpaper, you could have the pattern in some curtains, which would help dull any echo. I bought a small wall mounted Ikea hanging rail with a shelf above for guests to use as it doesn’t take up any floor space, but doubt if they have them now. A friend put up a short length of thick dowel across a corner for guests to hang their clothes. Perhaps a shelf below a mirror as a dressing table wouldn’t take up much floor space. It looks beautiful and you did a great job. A mirror on the wall opposite the window would increase light in the room. Curtains or drapes could look great (and reduce the echo) and a rug on the floor. Thrift / op shops and garage sales can be great sources. Don’t rush out and spend $$s, take your time to look around. Well I didn't read what others said except the fireplace one.....but love all the cute shabby chic you do already...and I know you will do what makes you happy. 💖🌹🌸⚘ Here are my suggestions... since you asked for what they are worth..🙃 I would do a very light white lace at the window and a dainty flowered valance maybe white with tiny pink flowers. Your lace could even have little birds in it or flowers. You could decoupage something on the wardrobe doors like birds and flowers..like tall holly hocks. Put pink glass knobs on it. I saw the faux fireplace idea...that would be cute over around the radiator..white..and serve as a beautiful place for your decor on the mantle. A cute cheap plant stand in the corner...painted would look nice. Or a tall coat and hat hanger pole style. A mirror would be cute but I would put it next to the wardrobe...and put something that pulls all the colors together over the bed...a statement piece..like the perfect cottage picture of your dream..cottage..🤗👍💖 like a Thomas Kincade...and yes...even a white iron or wood bed with legs...or a bed that is french and goes sideways...like a couch if you know what I mean but twin. Well what ever you do it will be you and beautiful, light and fun..enjoy the search...and create something that makes you happy to be in that tiny room. 🏠🏡🏩🏰🌹🌸🐈🌺🌻🌷🌞🛍👒 Enjoyed your video and many others...subscribed again...

This is coming along so nicely! I think some warm fruitwood pieces would be lovely! I installed beadboard paneling in my bathroom about 30 years ago, and I still love it! It looks great with my roll top bathtub!❤️

Looks amazing! I've been wanting to do this in my hallway. You can always buy an old window frame. And then have a piece of mirror cut to size. I think that would be nice. 💜

I would put a twin size bed in there with a decorative metal bed frame/headboard and open under the bed to give the illusion of more space. I think wall papering the whole room would be dramatic and cozy. Like being in the bedroom of a dollhouse. What about decorative molding on the closet doors? How about a chandalier? What about some decorative drapes or valence? Definitely a large mirror and large painting. You could do a french bed canopy crown. You could take the doors off the closet. Make the inside of the closet beautiful with decorative hooks and a shelf for guests to set their luggage on and hang clothes. It would open up the room without doors on it.

Looks great. You could do a simple stencil border around the top of walls, using paints. Maybe this has been suggested already--I Haven't read everyone's comments. I look forward to seeing all your final touches!
Hi Catherine, isn't it fun to be able to dream and create?? I agree with those who suggested a window frame with mirror. A taller bed would definitely help too. Although the bed frame is one I've never seen before. Bed seems a bit too big for room but it can work. Waiting to see more! :) take care dear!

Sweetheart I live that you say hot press instead of the posh name airing cupboard as that's what we call ithere in Scotland.I love pannelling and have it in my sitting room same as yours and on the splashback in the kitchen and in the bathroom I put it horizontally to look like ship planning .your completelyadorable and I love your little house
