If you want a project like this to last for years outdoors use a couple coats of marine varnish. I have 2 cheap particle board wood tables outside I painted & coated with it 3 years ago that are still holding up just fine. I hate spiders and my shed was filled with them. A friend told me to hang some bunches of lavender inside it & sure enough.. they took off for a new home. Now I spray it inside with lavender oil/water mix to keep them away. I had to replace the bundles twice with a week between to get the last stubborn ones to vacate. Spiders hate Eucalyptus, Citronella, Lavender & Peppermint so any of those essences will work to discourage them from nesting in your shed. But you really need the initial blast of hanging bunches of fresh lavender or eucalyptus to start.
Hi Dainty, I LOVED the table shelf idea! Yes, I hate gardening only because I hate spiders. I actually have a bug man come out once a quarter to spray, I've been doing that for approx. 15 years. Cheeky thumbs up. = )
All of these projects are beautiful, so inspiring! Spiders eat bugs & flies in the garden & in that way they're actually helpful so I never kill them, but I don't like handling them. I'm always afraid I'll get bit so I put an empty container over then, slide paper underneath to keep them in so I can put them outside. Even doing that, they're so quick I'm always relieved when I've actually successfully put it ourside.😃

Like my cat, they have to be in / on what you’re doing. We have lots of poisonous spiders and bitey snakes in Australia so I never search through any tight, dark or rarely used spaces. I love all your DIY's, especially the plate/cup tier and the cute jewelry box. It turned out so cute with the gold trim and that cute bow. My shed has lots and lots of DUST. I'll have to wear a mask when I go out there with all that dust and crude in there!! I don't know about spiders, I'll be more scared of finding the bones of some poor dead animal. Mine did have a big hole so anything as big as a raccoon could get in. Thankfully, now it has been re-sided, but does need a good clean out. With power saws I'm always afraid I'll saw off a finger or two!! So glad you posted. I look forward to your videos!!
I found myself going back and watching a bunch of your videos a few days ago. It's incredible how many projects I've done over the last year that you were the inspiration for. I had an old old console table much like yours with a really pretty trim on the edges. I'd never had room to use it so there it sat waiting for the day.. and all of a sudden your video. Inspiration by the bucket! It's cut in half, painted, sealed, mounted on my cinderblock wall (brilliant idea you had there) and a lovely spot for potted flowers & herbs! It completely changed that area from drag to so sweet & pretty. Of course I couldn't stop there and saw you make a wall hanging shelf from an old chair.. so I had to do that also. Then I saw your chair turned plant stand and of course that went below the table shelves. I've loved following you and taking your inspiration then running with it. You've been one of the few TH-cam creators I've actually been able to make the projects you show & they turn out wonderfully even when I end up adding my own twists. You truly need your own show either on the tele or one of the online pay channels like Netflix. Thank you so much.. always.
Great job on all. Put a bug bomb in the shed. I hate all bugs. Then, after you clean it up, put bug spray down inside and out 3-4 times a year. In the states, we have a product called Ortho Max. I live in the South and we have loads of bugs. We spray the perimeter of the house and around all doors and windows and it really helps. 🕷️🦂🦟🦠🦗
I can’t believe I missed this video! Nicely done Catherine! I have one pair of gloves that I managed to find in size S and even then they are too big so I only use them for gardening. DIY places need smaller sized gloves for us small handed creators! 💞
Great transformations Catherine, especially like the table shelves. Blondie was so cute sunning herself, however white cats are at highest risk of sunburn and developing sun related skin cancer, their ears are especially vulnerable. We lost our blue burmese boy just over 2 months ago, to protect your kitties ears jus put sunscreen on them. Stay safe and well. Tfs 👍💟🐞

i cut a dining room table lengthwise. i used about 2/3 of it for a craft desk, using the original base to keep it upright. i used the remaining third as a floating wall shelf to hang below the living room television. it really anchors the tv well.
Make sure you have your safety gear on because hospitals have enough on their hands. Smart advice, but it just struck as quite funny. I love your dyi videos & seeing your home. And I'd never even thought about making clay moldings like you did here & the head board you made for your guest room. I dream of having something someday that I can make moldings for.

Cute. If you want to go into your shed set up a bug bomb or fogger pull the door closed really quickly and leave it closed up for a couple days. Then open it up air it out and you're ready to go

Spiders dont like pepper mint oil. Get a bottle of this and sprinkle it around your shed and this will stop them living in there. My friends swears by it and got me some as I have just moved house and was scared to clean the shed out as it had lots of spiders webs in. Love vicky xx

I am always picking up small tables, shelves, wood boxes and other items and putting them in my basement to redo later. So I have a stash to go and look through. I just go down and find something I have an idea for and make it. Love your projects. I have never tried to drill through china, but I am going to get a bit and give it a try. Nice on splitting table for plant shelves. I've seen chairs hung which is cool too. I love Rub n' buff and use it often. I've been buying lovely furniture moldings, decorating my bedroom furniture with lately! Cute teacup feeder. I bought one years ago, includes teapot. No shed, but my garage is my lived in lounge I created yrs ago. Its totally decorated. I cleaned it out and everything in it this past weekend. Yes, spider webs!! I was beat and body hurt that night, including the next day. Better now! 🌹🌸🖌😉💝

What a great idea to do with old tables! I've never seen that before. I've seen chairs made into shelves but this is really cool. Love the tea cup set. I'd never have thought to put the cup at the top either. It looks so cute. I love the little jewelry box. So pretty. It's amazing how everything looks so fresh when painted, especially pastel colours. I've used air dry clay to cover a couple of chest of drawers, two bedside tables and two head boards. The best way to stick the clay pieces to the furniture is to actually add them with wood glue while wet as they buckle a bit when dried out. Also you can mould them around corners and difficult bits when wet. I've got a whole jar of pre-dried clay decals that dried a bit uneven, and I can't throw, as they are roses mainly, but waiting for some inspiration to use them on. Great inspiration as always and you've added another few projects to my want to do list. My other half is going to kill me! Stay safe x

I am always picking up small tables, shelves, wood boxes and other items and putting them in my basement to redo later. So I have a stash to go and look through. I just go down and find something I have an idea for and make it. Love your projects. I have never tried to drill through china, but I am going to get a bit and give it a try. Thanks for showing me how to do it.

Nice on splitting table for plant shelves. I've seen chairs hung which is cool too. I love Rub n' buff and use it often. I've been buying lovely furniture moldings, decorating my bedroom furniture with lately!

No shed, but my garage is my lived in lounge I created yrs ago. Its totally decorated. I cleaned it out and everything in it this past weekend. Yes, spider webs!! I was beat and body hurt that night, including the next day. Better now! 🌹🌸🖌😉💝

What a great idea to do with old tables! I've never seen that before. I've seen chairs made into shelves but this is really cool. Love the tea cup set. I'd never have thought to put the cup at the top either. It looks so cute. I love the little jewelry box. So pretty. It's amazing how everything looks so fresh when painted, especially pastel colours. I've used air dry clay to cover a couple of chest of drawers, two bedside tables and two head boards. The best way to stick the clay pieces to the furniture is to actually add them with wood glue while wet as they buckle a bit when dried out. Also you can mould them around corners and difficult bits when wet. I've got a whole jar of pre-dried clay decals that dried a bit uneven, and I can't throw, as they are roses mainly, but waiting for some inspiration to use them on.
Great inspiration as always and you've added another few projects to my want to do list. My other half is going to kill me! Stay safe x
