I used to watch you when I was pregnant with my first baby 3 years ago, you had about 10K subs, and I had a lot of time on my hands I remember once, I was sick with nausea, and lying down, I said to my husband, "I want to go to Ireland" he said "why" ... "Because it's so pretty" I was binge watching you... Now, 3 years and two babies later, I've played your video, and I'm hit by just how much the world has changed since then...
I’ve just started my 1st painted piece & stumbled upon your video, it’s great! I could listen to you talk all day long, I’m American & find Scottish, Irish, Australian & Indian accents mesmerizing 😀
My one piece of advice to anyone would be that making any kind of mistake is a learning opportunity. Do something, make a mistake, do it differently next time, continue. The purpose is not to strive for perfection but to strive for improvement. Thanks for your videos, I love them.
I am thinking of painting the furniture in our bedroom from wood to white or grey. Your video has been so helpful in explaining the pro’s and con’s, thank you!
You are such a good teacher for painting. Didn’t know about the cure time. I want to paint a Cherry finish bedroom suit white so I hope it turns out as well as yours.
Hi Catherine, you have explained perfectly. This is saving time and energy and proper guidance is paramount. You are so kind informing everyone to help them avoid mistakes!!! Missing Blondie and Pepsi. You have done really well. Thank you so very much.Stay safe .
Impatience and that anxiousness to see the piece ready and set up has been my bane!! I am better about now but have had to redo a few pieces. So, yes prep, prime and paint with Patience!! Thanks sweetie!
I loved this video, the piece looks amazing and it’s really given me inspiration to do some myself. Your home is absolutely gorgeous, so cozy, pretty and feminine 😊 x
*You've transformed this unit beautifully & I adore the decor on top 🥰* I painted my laminated kitchen units from a beech to a grey 2 years ago and im so glad I spent what felt like forever priming it ready as its still holding string now. Thanks for sharing your experience's on the paints youve purchased ❤
Such great advise especially about prepping. You are so right. I painted an acrylic sealer over white paint on my kitchen cabinets and it turned it yellow. And the paint also, peels, off, since I did not sand .
Hi Catherine from Atlanta Georgia USA. The side table turned out beautifully. What you mentioned about chalk paint is true, when the product was new it was indicated, just paint and you're done, but pieces do have to be prepped and sealed.
I got 2 pieces of furniture from local yard sales and cant wait to paint them so they look like they go together. The coffee table will get a wood gel stain on top with paint on the rest. Plan to paint the ceiling in white satin too cuz previous owner painted the walls and ceiling all the same color in apricot in the sun room. Great video!
I LOVE primer. It instantly makes a project look great, fresh and clean. Well done, it looks beautiful. My favorite finish is satin, which I always use. tfs 💗💗💗💗
Stunning! Great job!I love pink so I watch all your videos, you are really talented,And although I don't have enough space currently to do what I want, but I enjoy watching what you do, you really inspire me🙏,and please excuse my grammatical and spelling errors if there are any Much love from Morocco 🇲🇦🌸
Thanks for this guide, Catherine. I have a really tired-looking bookshelf in my classroom, which I am dying to paint so that it fits my decor. Now I feel able to tackle it.Thanks for generously sharing your knowledge! Love to you and your furkids. 🐈
I’m an experienced upcycler but I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It’s very well presented, and gives a great explanation of how to start out in upcycling. I use Frenchic chalk paint most of the time, but occasionally Farrow & Ball. If you want to buy F & B cheaper there are websites that will mix their colours in another base paint, ie I’m in the process of decorating my house and I have F & B colours mixed in Johnstone’s Covaplus trade emulsion. I’m in the U.K. and rather than £85 for a 5 litre tin of F & B’s own I pay £27 on a site called Decorating Warehouse. I know this is emulsion but they do mix all other types of paint this way, and as you can see it’s a massive saving. Thanks for your great video and I’m now a subscriber!
A girl after my own heart. I work as a decorator and absolutely love my job , I’ve also painted many pieces of furniture and your absolutely right about the prep and prime , it’s so tempting to jump straight to the fun bit and get the colour on but it’s all about the prep ! Loving your videos 😀
Brilliant video x it’s great you mention cure time. I’ve done the same with door knobs 🤦♀️ Gone to change them up and pulled the front of the drawer paint off. ♥️💗
I’ve not painted any furniture in *years* , but you’ve got me wanting to repaint some of my older pieces!! Most of my pieces are stenciled or decorative painted! ❤️
I've been going back and watching some of your older videos so I hope you see this question. After watching you talk about the different kinds of paint I was wondering if you had tried any of the paint additives? I was interested in the additive BB frosh it's supposed to make any kind of paint even sat in an eggshell cover like a chalk paint
Well done! You are so right about giving lots of cure time! Also, on point about a non-perfect project giving a beginning painter a sense of pride and inspiration to try another project. I am a beginner. Anyone can make something more beautiful and personal.
thank you!!! this video was super informative and answered the questions i needed answered lol i watched like 20 other vids b4 this one and no one really told what paints to use 🙄
So true n great tips...I painted and old hand me down night stand n so I can skip some steps got 3 in 1 paint can...just to say it did not go to well as it said on the can!! Ended up painting 4 layers almost used the whole can of paint!!!😳...thts how U learn..dont be lazy take Ur time!!!😂

Most of my furniture is oak and very orange undertones and you are right PRIME that BABY first no matter what Annie Sloan says! Stay safe!
Hello Catherine loved the video found it very useful and interesting I’ve got a bureau to paint so I’ll defiantly try the satin finish thankyou fo sharing take care love Jackie xx
I wish you put this out last week ! Painted bar stools with chalk paint that kept scraping off. Went to wax with the round brush and bristle took paint right off! I put them out on the patio to work on them AGAIN next day. Rained during night and my stools were in puddles of the brown paint that just clumped off! What a mess! I've just finished scrubbing them clean and bought spray paint. I'm hoping this will work. Idk why this happened as wood painted white. I didn't sand per chalk paint instructions... thinking that was my first mistake!
