What was the ideology of Pakistan before Zia? A country created by a ruthless purge of non Muslims involving millions of deaths and displacements was not an Islamic ideological project?

Readers of two books written by a great writer V.S. Naipaul shouldn't be surprised by whatever comes out now. "Among the Believers" prepares the reader to enter the Heart of Darkness. This medieval world of darkness becomes visible. Absence of political institutions. Absence of rule of law. A chapter covering the "Killing History" shows how blindness defines the medieval Muslims. No sense of wonder. No sense of history. These primitive Muslims had the luck to come across with another book "Beyond Belief"---a complimentary book. A work of art. In this book he shows the beginnings of the "Missing Persons" in the largest province of Baluchistan. Both books remain relevant to our times. "Teach the free man how to praise." Auden.
