2024 Kia EV5 walkaround preview: Korea's new electric car rivals Tesla Model Y SUV

The 2024 Kia EV5 is coming to Australia, and it's got the best-selling Tesla Model Y firmly in its sights. Think of it as the all-electric alternative to Kia's Sportage mid-size SUV.
Needless to say, the pressure is on for the EV5, which becomes the third model in Kia's 'EV' series, following in the tyre tracks of the mid-size EV6 and upper-large EV9 SUVs.
So, what makes the EV5 stand out from the electric-car crowd? In this walkaround preview, CarsGuide Senior Journalist Tom White travels to South Korea for Kia EV Day to get up close and personal with the new model to find out ahead of its Australian launch.

The infotainment is smallish in size - so not that good for maps while driving or viewing media (Netflix, TH-cam) while charging.

Yet another failure from car manufacturers who have once again missed the market. EV's are dead on arrival due to pricing themselves out of the market. Combine that with stories of battery issues, lack of repairability, insurance write offs and insurance companies jacking EV insurance prices up....epic fail.
