  • Iman Amrani visits France’s second biggest city to meet the inhabitants of two housing estates with opposing cultural and political identities. Disillusioned voters have turned to the far left and the far right for answers in the most divisive election in a generation. Rising resentment towards the political class has resulted in non-traditional candidates dominating the election. With the faultlines in French society revealed, how should such a divided country be represented?

      To those French unaware, there are more Australians buried in France than any country outside Australia. Your pathetic leaders in the 20th Century got your nation into wars they could never win, then relied on the goodwill of the Anglosphere to save their arses! How many French died defending Australia from Japan? Then you elect complete Dickheads, repeatedly, and wonder why your country is screwed? For the sake of the thousands of Australians, New Zealanders, Canadians, South Africans, and your traditional enemies, the British who died on your soil, doing your dirty work, just reject any Leftists like Macron, any Greens whatsoever, and embrace Le Pen, or any Nationalists. Your country can be salvaged yet.

      Clearly, France was never worth the sacrifice of Australian blood. Should have left it to the Germans.

    So tragic. Such a symptom of the times when the French, of all people on this planet, are afraid to assert their own identity. At one point in recent history they would be in tears at the Tricolour and La Marseillaise. They actually have a law against denigrating the Anthem. Today they are like beaten dogs. How much longer has the French identity got I wonder?

    How about not making a country 'divided' in the first place? This is a direct result of very loose and weak national/EU migration policies, plus the widespread abuse of 'human rights' legislation.

    From an American, this looks so much like Pennsylvania during the 2016 election. It's uncanny. Mélénchen is like a Bernie Sanders, Le Pen is a Trump, and Macron is a Hillary. Left, right, and center. Be careful what you wish for, France. Our far-right candidate ain't doing so well, is he?

    • @djanitatiana
      @djanitatiana 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He's doing fine. Reformed Obamacare despite GOP problems, took just action in Syria without actually escalating, N Korea will pull their heads in (no nuke test) . Le Pen will do a lot more than Trump because there is a lot more to be done. France is perilously close to a tipping point and Macron will not arrest it's downfall.

    • @magnus08f250
      @magnus08f250 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      schutternutter trump is far right? He's more left than Hillary. He's the one who pushed for a trillion dollar infrastructure plan. It's so clear that "left" vs "right" is really open borders globalism and nationalism. Le Pen is against a banker who doesn't pay taxes. I thought the left hated bankers and loved minorities? Isn't it sexist for not voting for Le Pen?

      No that is not right. You cannot compare french and american politics. They don't face the same issues and the same situation. In french we have this expression "comparaison n'est pas raison" (comparisons are misleading).

    • @kishitendou5492
      @kishitendou5492 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Far right is actually moderate position because the left has gone far too left, way beyond just far left, into the domain of lunatic left. So the current far right is far right when seen relatively from the lunatic left's position.

      I'm anarchist, so I'm against both candidates and the general system they are in. although, I am a LOT more against Marine Le Pen bc globalised capitalism is still a long shot from actual fucking fascists in power...

      Yay dodge question again, you are good at this one, not answering the questions, like many antifa you prefer to get get angry. It's funny how stupid you folks are, in one case you decreed on USA Inauguration Day it was a good day to trash Washington, one guy a small time limo owner had his limo destroyed by antifa arsonists, because they want to destroy the elites apparently, that bloke who owned the limo was a poor Muslim, go team!

    • @antifasarkeesian1467
      @antifasarkeesian1467 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i wasn't trying to answer your question here since you posed the same question to me twice in 2 different threads, so there's no point in answering it again here.. is that your pick up line or smth? You keep repeating as if it's a gospel or smth. I don't care about your conspiracy theory on how EU representatives are trying to take over the world. If you genuinely believe that the only option for peeps is to vote for fascism bc of the EU being problematic, then I honestly don't know how to help you. I mean, what do you actually KNOW about far-left politics, for example? What do you think/know anarchism or communism are? What do you think the term socialism stands for? Bc, I've engaged with your topics, so how about you maybe try the same with me? Isn't that what open discourse and free speech should enable?

    The idea of 'no good candidate' seems to be a running trait. In the US you had Trump and Hillary. In the UK currently it's between May and Corbyn. I can see so many people not voting. It's bad because that means a portion of the country get no representation, which is bad for democracy whichever way you swing.
    I also don't like that things are being portrayed as Right or Left when often (like Brexit) it's more complicated than that.

    France is not Christian because the majority of people are atheists....................... Typical right wing nutjob, goes straight to religion as soon as you mention identity. That's what religions have been reduced to in Europe today: a stamp of identity stripped of any values or even moral. Not that it is a surprise given that all moderates left. Being French, in my opinion, is first and foremost recognizing the legacy of the Lumières which led to the French Revolution and our State of *Right* ( not beliefs, *RIGHTS* ). When you are trying to impose your beliefs upon us like you did by protesting against the gay *civil* marriage you are going against the very foundation of our State and fighting the very same fight against secularism that ISIS is. That we still have to fight this fight in 2017 is beyond me, next they are going to ask for monarchy back... Mark my words, History will not see you in a good light.
