Hi Marianne and Chris. Just a word of advice... When you leave Georgia, please make sure you get rid of all your Georgian Lari before you depart from the country because you cannot exchange that currency anywhere else in the world, as it is a closed currency. On my trip around the world in 2018/19 I left Georgia with a 1,000 Lari note and then travelled extensively throughout the world unable to exchange it. It was only down to pure chance a year later, I was talking to a Dutch couple in a hostel in Athens who mentioned to me they were going on to Georgia... Ping. The light bulb came on and I managed to exchange that very large note with them for Euros.

The road all the way to Ushguli is notorious for its dangerous driving, and sadly for its death toll. Our driver - in the usually long series of toasts we experienced - raised a toast (prayer) for those lost on the road and the affected families. You were very brave to drive that road!
I’m just pleased you survived. Marianne is a great driver. I would love a go at those roads but not probably in a Fiat camper van. People seemed very friendly which is nice. Can’t wait for the next go.

Just to think in Britain, its only cars and the odd horse you see on the roads. But in Georgia its Cows,Pigs and even chickens. I'd love to see that first hand. 🤣

I don’t like windy scary roads. I had some terrifying experiences going up mountains in Cyprus sitting in front seat of my uncles huge car with no seat belts 😳 and when I go up windy narrow roads I start shaking lol 😂. You too are so brave. My heroes. Xx🥰😍🙏❤️👍🤩😜👏

Lovely video 👌👌 I cannot wait to go to Mestia on my next trip to Georgia!! It looks breath-taking!! FYI the yellow pipes alongside the road are gas pipes supplying the town/village. Also watch out for those roadworks. My partner is from Georgia. Last time we were there we were driving on a dual carriageway around Tbilisi and the road just ended - no warning at all 😂 Luckily we could see ahead!!
So, Turkey has community dogs & cats -- does Georgia have community livestock? So! Many! Cows! Those roads were legit! Reminded me of watching LeAw's & Trent and Allie's travel videos in Central America. Marianne has earned another merit badge, IMHO. ❤❤😎👍xx

Marianne, you have nerves of steel! I could not drive those roads with the drop off on the right side. The only place I’ve seen lots of cows in the road here in America is in the Navaho Nation part of northern Arizona - but the roads there are not mountainous. I’m enjoying seeing Georgia.
Mazeri is a village which is 15-minite drive from Mestia. The road is good, no worries. You'll have the most beautiful view of Ushba Mountain from there. There is no better place in Svaneti than Mazeri.

I personally would not do this road in a Moho - but there are lots of beautiful places that do not risk your vehicle and then you can go on a trip in a 4x4 local tour vehicle to visit xx

Hi Charles - we do put adverts on, if we leave it to YT then there is one every couple of minutes, but we normally cut it down and keep them skippable, this way we get income and you can skip !! I personally would not do this road in a Moho - but there are lots of beautiful places that do not risk your vehicle and then you can go on a trip in a 4x4 local tour vehicle to visit xx

Good question! It was ok - but we are stopping for 2 days to edit and upload ... answer messages, emails in places with good internet signal ... And to be fair ... Georgia is generally good !! M

Still loving your travels though. Yes like James, I too was surprised that you would go off somewhere on the word of a stranger! But yes, I suppose that's exactly where adventure begins. What stunning scenery, so definitely worth the trip!
Hi Charles - we do put adverts on, if we leave it to YT then there is one every couple of minutes, but we normally cut it down and keep them skippable, this way we get income and you can skip !! I will ask Chris to have a look at this video and check to see why this is - thanks for letting us know xx

Yes Selmin - it is a very beautiful and green country .... we pray that the forestry department in Turkey will put effort into replanting and growing the beautiful forests here in Turkey as so many tourists come to visit the lovely Northern green parts of this country !!

This was an excellent introduction to driving in the former USSR countries. Very dangerous drivers. Please be extremely careful as there are no rules and respect for other drivers.
