AND WERE BACK!! part 2 is here, we made our way back down to the chieftain again with a bit more information. We had it running but not revving, indicating it was locking in a gear. Delving deeper we seemed to find the problem! stick around to the end to see if we got her going!
I think everyone can appreciate this was a great video! Nice work Lads!
Cheers man, appreciate it 👍
Get it in the workshop and restore it. It's a piece of British army history.
nah just play with it. its a big toy now :)
@@kreseph9151 why not both
No leave it as is, they should keep it
History,😂 it is a toy.
@@mladensosic2280 are you stupid?
Where in the HELL do you get a field full of tanks?! That place would have been so much fun as a kid.
Until a boy is 40 years old, he is a boy
Realy it like they stuck an abandoned all over Britain lol
Strip it down, restore it properly. Popular channels? Mr Hewes, Australian armour and artillery museum. I like to see a good job being done on restoration. Mechanical engineering!
We were just playing about with this one, we’re underway with a challenger 1 restoration atm, we’ve posted 1 video on it so far, but toms been busy with the red oxide, that might be more your cup of tea !
Can't forget little lottie.
Bovington military museum
Put it on the list to restore properly please ! 😊
Tinkering Tuesday with Norfolk tank meusem
M1A2 Abrams tank crew here, I have much respect for your work. Keep up the good work and keep those beasts running!
A full restoration please Tom and Ash. It is a piece of military history that deserves restoration. You two have the ability to do it.
We’ll see what we can do !! Thank you
@@TanksalotGB Would definitely love to watch a series on full restoration of this tank!
@@TanksalotGBI second that
Agreed! The chieftain videos is why I came here. Please keep working on her!
@@TanksalotGBno, you guys should leave it as is, it brings character
I cant imagine reading your comment section and seeing nothing but, "Do it right! Strip it all down!" "I can't believe they aren't doin x and y!" Its paid for they could torch the thing if so inclined, let them have at it and just enjoy the content.
You guys have done awsome work here! God Bless you guys for helping this Amazing Lady come back to life! This has been Outstanding please restore this Great English Lady. 👍🏻 God Bless you guys from Dave in the USA 🏴🇬🇧🏴
Thank you sir 🫡
@TanksalotGB Thank you, and God Bless you guys! 🙏 That lovely Lady is Grateful!
That engine sounds amazing. Take it in and do it up. What a machine
On one hand I like the technical & diagnostic side of things - so this was right up my street 👍 On the other hand I really enjoy the restoration to former glory series of videos - looking forward to more of the Challenger 👍
Ye we want to do those kind of videos when we have more time, the challenger is the first in line for full restoration series!!
Make the top comment a war thunder reference like ATACK THE D POINT
I’d love to see more content on the challenger 1, restoring that would be great as there are not that many around. Keep up the good work.
We want to do that aswell, but we want to make sure when we post the video it’s one worth watching, as that will be a full resto! Toms been busy with the red oxide !
Be careful that you still seem to have the traverse gearbox drive pinion removed so that turret will flop around. Stick with it though you're both doing fine!
I like the step by step logical methodical way of getting it functioning.
I've never worked on a tank before, but when I drop a 'non sticky metal' piece, I ball up a hunk of duck tape sticky side out and put it on a stick. It works. You may wind up with every other piece of trash dropped down there over the years, though. Good work getting those pieces of history running! Love it!
just fantastic guys! well done from Melbourne Australia.
In America, we have "will it run" videos, but I've yet to see one with a tank. Have I simply stumped into a niche group of you that restore tanks and film it? Or is there an abundance of non running tanks available in your country?
I'm having a rough time and just stumbled apon the part one, and now watched this. Please keep it going, and getting this tank working well. I would love to tinker with something like this. Very much enjoyed watching.
I’m glad you enjoyed it ! I think we’re gonna head down soon and have another play with it, left hand tiller and fuel pumps and she should be well away !
Get her running propeely, she deserves to be cared for. Good work so far.
Can you imagine to be a tank gunner, passing through field of "inactive" and scrapped tanks, which looks like this one.
And suddenly one of these behemoths engine starts and is going after you? xD
*tank starts turning the turret to face the gun at you*
I kind of like the sleeper idea lol. Great videos, please keep working on this project it's awesome.
Thanks! Will do!
Keep working in it...but keep growing grass on it lol PLEASE keep the grass lol
Just film all the antics and the fixing lads, doing great job. 👌👍
Another great video by ash and tom keep it going guy's giving the old man a run for his money
We like the competition 😂😉
Get one of those russian padded tanker helmets to protect your head and fix that beast up!
Do u have my favourite tank the king tiger from Germany wwII
DOOO ITTTT FIX ITTT!! DO ITTTT!! WE MUST FIX THE TANK BROTHER!!!
Great to see the beats come back to life.
We had fun doing it! Although I got very sun burnt 😂
we could tell on your bright red head 😂
I wish I could just find places like this in Aus I would love to go inside a tank
Please continue this! I love seeing this historical beast come back to life bit by bit.
I’d like to get it driving right aswell, we have a few more I’d like to do, ready for a drag race !!
2:01 casually turns into gremlin ItS BlOoDy TiGhT 👹 🙂so I might take this cover off
😂😂😂killed me
Great video Ashley and Tom and good to see the chieftain running, really like watching these can we get it running videos keep them coming guys they are great content, hopefully when the challenger is further on maybe the multi coloured chieftain that would be brilliant content watching the work to get it running again
Ahh yes our old Berlin chieftain !! Believe she’s in need of a gearbox but it could be something silly ! I’d like an army of chieftains for a drag race
@@TanksalotGB army of chieftains in a drag race that sounds a fun video
Get her restored 👌🏻
Get the fuel pumps fixed. Let’s see this thing move out!
Old US Army 19K here. Great job guys. Such a beautiful beast.
Man your talented brother! God bless y’all
That challenger is angry from being awakened 😆
Glad to see her alive!
Isn't it a Chieftain?
Wash her up and get her looking right
Just found your channel and watched parts 1 & 2. Great content and a step beyond most "will it start" videos of old cars. Get her going properly guys. Also, a little history of who you guys are would be great and how you came to acquire these machines like the Chieftain. Was it yours for the fixing?
Thank you, I’m glad you like it! We’re a family business so I grew up mucking about with them, but we’ve been collecting about 35years !
Love the Chieftain with the stillbrew armor on the turrent. Interesting tank and it looked fantastic in Reign of Fire.
hola amigos ,muy bueno lo q hacen como me gustaría estar ayudando ,SALUDOS DESDE ARGENTINA ,SAN LUIS, LA PUNTA.
My mechanic brain just drools at these videos, we don't have this sitting around the countryside in Western Australia. You gents are very lucky to play with such gems of engineering. Subscribed 👍
restore the old gal id love to see it personally. fully restore the mechanical stuff leave the paintjob. I like the old rusty look!
Imagine a military place flying over doing a flight routine and sees the tank driving around 😂
Get running and not staving for fuel ⛽ your doing good job watching from Kentucky 😊
Great job gentlemen!!! Absolutely amazing work, and the knowledge you two have is incredible!!
Hey mate! Nice to see… But: wrong shirt! It‘s not a Tiger, Leopard, Panther or Marder…
A Leyland-, Foden-, Rolls Royce or something like that - shirt would be more suitable, would‘n it?…😁
It was nearly 40 years ago now but, I believe that the fuel pump may be the same as the one on a 432 if you need a replacement - also the injectors may be partially blocked
Yes they are but it seems as tho the other 1 is different, but I tested the powers and it’s only at 1.5v so I think the fuel pump may be alright just the electrical gremlins
Pretty awesome. I am actually surprised that the British government allows its subjects to own tanks.
Pull it apart, get it going properly, and let's see the old girl roar back to life!
I've seen parts 1 & 2 now and enjoyed what I saw. Looks like nice Tank country, Salisbury plain ? More please. Perth, Australia
Hey Guys. I was in the U.S Marine Corps. I also trained with the British Royal Marines. I can really appreciate what your doing with these tanks. I have a question. What do you do with the tanks after you get them running and moving and stuff?? Take care and good luck
Hope you guys get it all restored and fully working so to speak,British history there, better than all the Russian junk even now.
I don't know the history of that tank but if the Army was it's' last owner and the fuel smells like kerosene then it might actually be JP-8 aircraft fuel because that's what NATO uses in all their diesel equipment because it has such a low freezing point.
is the turret hidraulics still working???? i have so many expectations on this tank!! im already exited for part 3!!!!
The audio is much better on this video and enjoyable as a result. Just subscribed so looking forward to seeing your next 👍
Thank you, thankfully the wind was on our side this time !
Since I am from Berwick Pennsylvania where the Stuart was produced, of course I want to see more of that. I would also like to see you continue on the Chiefton
Dont start something and dont finish pisses people off
HOW THE HELL DOES anything work in that pommy rust bucket
Take the tank to the workshop and get the turret to point straight, it should be easier getting in and out of the tank.
Dude fix it
So why would someone abandon a perfectly good tank that looks like it might have ran just fine when it was abandoned? Do you think the gears were stuck when they abandoned it? Or do you think it may have gotten stuck and whoever was driving it just didn't want to bother. Were there signs of it being in a fight? I couldn't tell through the recording.
"Will this abandoned tank start!?"
-first three seconds of the video is the tank driving forwards
I really don't understand why every channel seems does this now.
The amount of work i had to do to break my grandpa jacks old Churchill 1 from a bog in Germany was incredible then it took me 3 months of fabricating replacement parts to bring centurion back to life before i loaded it up onto a c17 to fly back to the states to return to my then 106 year old grandpa before he died 3 years later
Would love to see a part 3!
Skip to 17:00 - your life isn’t worth wasting watching 17 minutes of people talking.
I love seeing the running bits of this tank. I have many tiny miniatures of this tank and have never heard one run. That thing sounds mean! Please do continue! I hope you can make the turret traverse also. Are the weapon systems all demil’d?
LESGOOO PART 2
cant beat a nice trimmed bush :)
Indeed 😂
The UK has military equipment stashed everywhere
We might see some wheeled vehicles but the tracked ones all get scrapped since the government fears the public being armed in the United States
I would bet the fuel filter is needing a good cleaning / change. Love the sound of that beast......how is the trans fluid?
I love how many people i annoyed in the first part by saying
"I found a tank"
Usa army: *"you what?"*
I love this. I think I found a new favourite YT channel. Pls more of this :)
This is amazing it’s definitely needs a pt.3
In the world you just recover that old abandoned tank that’s like almost like impossible but maybe it is possible. Is there a lot of history with this tank and you just recover it?
Yes, I want to see you sort the fuel system out! Please. Excellent content! ( Hobart Australia)
Are there abandoned tanks all over the island of BRITAIN 🇬🇧 LOL
The world needs a collaboration video between Jennings Motor sports and these guys.
I do not understand your laws, you can't have small arms but you can have tanks and other armored vehicles???
I see you brought your own vehicles to assist, how is there so many abandoned tanks laying around in fields?
A bowl full of nuts and bolts... I heard someone saying this about a furry convention once
fix it up
You need a bunch of WD 40!! 🤗
Watching from Tennessee 😊
U all need some drone footage especially back at shop and farm be cool an they got drones that just follow u now probably be helpful when working
Are theese just abandoned on public land or do you own the property? Realy cool tho, like your vids.
I Would really like to see a full restoration please! Awesome video, good to see peopel who know what they are doing.
I absolutely love this! Just two guys having fun getting an old piece of mechanical goodness running again🤌
its so impressive what you guys do. Good Job in getting that beauty up and running! Such a great skill to have
Id love to see and hear it runnung propper. Keep the savahna cammo tho. Lol. As for other tanks, can you get any of the old leopards?
You are doing something that for me is out standing! I find it wonderful that you actually got out moving under its own power. It is just a little bit of history that is being brought back to life. I’ve just found you post and I’m very happy that I did. Keep up the good work. 😂
JUST because you keep banging your head 😡 I say be good to the old lady and get her running like she did in her prim. 😊
Thats really cool to see an old rusted tank like that move!!! Awesome job fixing it up!
Maybe a dumb question how hard is it to get the turret back functional? As in pointing it in a direction.
Yeah full restoration, so it will be able to fire some rounds. keep up the good work guys.
Damn, if this thing was anywhere near me, I'd love to come in and help clean the thing up.
Get some TH-cam Fans in the boat for the restore Jobs, for free, let them be Part of the video. For some Minor easy but but big works
i dont remember if you mentioned which model specifically in the video, but the stuart to me is looking an awful lot like an m3, its got the mount still on the top for an mg, and some covered slots for more, plus the model is the late stuart
I just want to see it going full speed to be honest, iv had a quick check and theres defo not one in my garden, gutted 😂
i think you should clean everything except the outside like the engine and interior but keep the outside with the abandoned camo
You should get her running correctly like your approach and explanations
