    OMG! I have this one and its one of my favourite plants EVER! its never fussy, always growing, easy to split, will climb if u give it a pole, or spread out if you don't. I got this one from the New Covent Garden Flower market near where I live and the sellers there had it right at the back of the shop in a section of plants I assume that they are usually throwing in the bin that morning, (this makes me sad, so I always look in here to see if there is anything salvageable) and there was a large pot of this variety. It had 3x separate plants in the pot but all were hugely overgrown and hanging out of the pot and it looked like a bit of a mess as they were all tangled up in each other and hanging over the edge, but I instantly saw it and grabbed it and took it straight to the seller and he obviously wanted rid of it and gave it to me for less than £10. Crazy. I took it home and untangled and separated them and now I have 3x huge plants that are my pride and joy that are by far the easiest plants to care for that I own. I would recommend this plant to anyone. Its awesome

    This poor baby needs a Totem to grow up on.
    We all know the meaning of Philodendron, right? Give it something to love!
    The leaves could surely get over two feet wide but that kind of maturation comes from climbing.

    The leaf sheath and leaf shape remind me of Phil. Pedatum with more ridges. Beautiful plant 😍

    This is an amazing looking plant, love that the leaves resemble a dragon, and I love dragons! Thanks so much Summer, when I have more room, I will be looking for larger plant to fill that space. See you tomorrow.

    Hey Summer Rayne, I'm a fairly recent plant addict and your videos have been so helpful as I learn to care for my two dozen plant babies so thank you! Was wondering how you became so knowledgeable about plants and ended up on your wiki page and I just wanted to say 1) you're awesome for sticking to your principles and modelling only for eco-friendly companies and 2) hey, a fellow Cornellian! :D Go Big Red!!
    Keep up the great content. :)

    Beautiful specimen! I’m curious though what the difference is between this and the philodendron longilobatum..?

    • @jakeryker546
      @jakeryker546 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Longilobatum is skinny and pointy while this one grows wider to a size like a mask on a person's head.

    Agree with Rylan Mathis, this is out of P. pedatum, if it is not actually ~all~ pedatum. (P. squamiferum has almost hairy petioles.)
    This group of Philos has highly variable jagged edges, hardly ever matching left side to right. I see nothing that makes this distinct from pedatum. I have one guess as a hybrid contributor, P. bipennifolium. Again, there's nothing that says bipenni is definitely at work, but they both have a generally five-section layout of the leaf with a thinned waist above the bottom lobe.

    I love the shape too! Is the Florida beauty / ghost a hybrid out of this?

    • @johnjhill3
      @johnjhill3 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The "Florida" family are all hybrids of P. pedatum and P. squamiferum.
      Pedatum has smooth petioles, while squamiferum has almost hairy petioles, so "Florida" ends up with scaly feeling petioles, usually with a reddish cast to them.
      Basic Florida is all green, the "beauty" and "ghost" variegations came out of the green form as random as any variegations are.

    Hello Summer Rayne, can you help me to explain the difference between this philodendron sp. Golden dragon and philodendron Radiatum? I am really interested in knowing.

    • @AdamAdamx
      @AdamAdamx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very obvious difference in leaf shape especially when they are mature. Then, P. radiatum would have a much larger leaf size which similar to Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum.
