I’ve seen enough videos & heard enough stories that I doubt I would ever buy a BMW newer than about 2001 unless it was brand new & under warranty. The reliability & depreciation just make them a no-go. Now, something from the 1980s & 1990s is a different story.
Some of the newer bmws are good my mom owns a 2019 X3 and it still has warranty and it’s been super reliable so far no major issues but I have a feeling as soon as the warranty is over everything is gonna start breaking
I’m sure you can get an e90 DCT transmission for the M6 for way less money than the manual and it’ll still be a massive upgrade over the SMG. A few people have already done it successfully
Every brand after the early-mid 00s learned one thing, "we can make alot more off selling parts and forcing them bringing it back to the dealer for repairs" ie: a Window Regulator from Dodge, same part thats in EVERY vehicle they sold from 1990 to now was $350, they wanted another $300 for labor. Advance wanted $110 for a dorman brand, and my parents and I worked on it ourselves.
The issue is that they assemble the car in stages and with components all bolted together. Taking it apart or servicing is isn't a concern. And as long as it makes it past the warranty period, not their problem.

It's doable on the E46 M3 SMG, but in that case you still have to get a new hole cut and tapped to install the different reverse-gear sensor. Apparently the later SMG transmissions are substantially less amenable to the conversion to the point where it would cost WAY more to make the modifications than to just replace with one that has always been manual.
That’s because the smg trans is shared with the manual on e46 m3. Smg 3 is a 7 speed on the e60/e63 cars not a 6 speed, so it’s not something you can just remove the hydraulic system on and have a manual car. Needs a full trans swap.
Don't what happened, I had a 1995 740i that went 300K miles before I sold it to a mechanic. The engine and transmission were still solid and QUIET on that car. It had a better stereo system than I had in my house. It just kept getting little electrical issues that I would figure out and get some parts from RockAuto and be on my way. I was moving across country and didn't want to spend 3K to move that tank and sold it to my Eurotrash mechanic.
Hoovie, you are one incredibly entertaining dude. I’m sure someone has posed this to you before but I figure it can’t hurt for me to try. Next time you plan to buy a BMW or some other car that is going to cause you heartache, how about you buy me a fun car for say $5000 so I can have something cool. You’ll end up saving big money and avoid frustration. I’d take a Kei Little Truck. A high mileage 350z. A Celica. Something fun and reliable so I don’t get the frustration either. What do ya say?! I’d probably pass out. Keep up the great content. One of my favorite TH-cam video series.

I've lost count the number of times I've chopped up bell housings swapping around to make things fit, often for manual conversions for configurations that never had a manual option. I'm assuming there's a lot more involved here than just finding a dead transmission, chopping the incorrect bell housing, and then welding the working one from said paperweight? That might be impossible, I'm ignorant of the new stuff. I've had more than a few E36's in the past and have an E31 now, but nothing newer than the 90s and even the E31 has a Toyota 1UZ V8 supercharged instead of a BMW engine (most reliable BMW I've owned). I had to make the BMW transmission work with the 1UZ through some creative solutions in my machine shop.

That’s because the smg trans is shared with the manual on e46 m3. Smg 3 is a 7 speed on the e60/e63 cars not a 6 speed, so it’s not something you can just remove the hydraulic system on and have a manual car. Needs a full trans swap.
Keep it up Tyler! The vids get better every time. Also, I saw it coming that you would bury the x6 not a M
BMW went downhill after 2000.
BMWs are great cars. People just don’t know or understand how to maintain them
I don't think you should have locked it. It'll be a lot harder to get into in a year.
He wants to make sure nobody steals it.
Hoovie needs a dedicated excavator that keeps his safety in mind 😂 no benching, no trench box. This could become a "shake hands with danger" video easily lol.
Safety third
Did not look like an issue.
@@radonradon5478 never does, till it is lol.
@@RobJaskulaLOL had Mike Rowe’s voice in my head as I read that 😂
Best safety video ever
I had a BMW. Loved driving it. And while it was under warrantee, I got to drive an amazing array of service loaners too. I think I put as many miles on service loaners as I did my BMW before I got rid of it.
lol, ditto. One time they handed me a sheet saying the demo could now only be driven 100miles...
What's "Warrantee"? An Indian tribe?
That doesn't inspire confidence.
Could you save the x6 with the engine from the 6series you are taking the transmission from-
It still wouldn’t be an X6M
He's not doing that anymore. He said in this video that the transmission isn't the right one.
@@volvo09 yeah I finished watching the video- waste of an x6 but it was bad and not worth it- the 6 series are a beautiful addition to the roster-
Buying the wrong parts car is a mistake I would make. That's why we love you Hoovie.
I loved working on my 2009 335D with the glorious M57 diesel engine. Hoovie used to collect mercedes diesels but is afraid of the newer diesel emissions equipment which quite frankly is less costly or troublesome than these M cars
Buying a reliable BMW will not get him the views though.
oh wow, that has been a while since you've done that hahahaha
another buried car lmao, that car can't stress out another soul ever again, this is one of the reasons I love this channel
After burial, Tyler realizes his cellphone is still in X6 😂
That bellhousing looks like it unbolts... cant they be swapped?
Should have put the x6 into a demolition derby. That would be amazing content
That would’ve been a fun idea
Not sure the actual point of burying all these cars, beyond “I wonder if” but I’m here for it, I just don’t know why… but the last one was pretty interesting.
You have the best idea! Used bmw’s (I have 2) could be sold and buried in cemeteries as coffins! Brings a whole new meaning to “family plots” & “seats a family of 5!” 😂
Probably cheaper than an actual coffin, too.
Now you FINALLY did the right thing with that BMW, those cars are chariots from hell, you gave it a proper burial and no one else will ever be cursed by it.
If you swap X6 engine with 3UZ-FE will live for ever...
Hope was question what to do with it before you buried it.
The m6 is clunky because of the sleeve and throw out bearing. Once you have the transmission out. Replace all of the seals.
Now that you have a farm you could review side-by-sides and tractors/mowers/ventrac. Would be useful on the farm
Seeing you buy cars makes me feel better about my own spending habits
The BMW was hard to start when it was above ground.
Adapter plate? how hard can it be to fix a bolt pattern mismatch?
I’m glad to see your channel return to its roots, literally!
He did it again 😂😂😂😂
Dude you are having too much fun!!! Keep it up!!
How have you never had an M140i? the B58 is incredible, the ZF super reliable, and they are so quick
Not available in the US
Are they available in the USA? I thought they only had the M135 until 2016 or so?
Thanks you for making this beautiful piece of positive man! ❤, The struggle is real, I needed this for real.
I couldve used that beamer Hoovie currently struggling , If I dig it up may I keep it 😄
The biggest problem is that the ground will sink as the roof deteriorates and collapses leaving a huge divit in the ground.
Don't ask me how I know and make sure you don't build anything close by.
He will dig it up again, (another video) then dispose of it properly at a junk yard
@@kevincockburn7805 Yeah he better as I can see the EPA or County getting on him about the oil/gas/ etc he buried with it... making his house a super fund site is par for the course for Hoovie.
@Hoovies Garage you said that you would never burry another car again! this was on the last video when you dug out the last car. Also peopel can call the cops on you and get fine for this kind of stunts, its consider ilegal dispose with eviromental consequences, you disposed it with oils and other harmfull chemicals on the ground, so yea... hope that you dont find some unemployed karen that thinks its her bussiness to call the cops on you, PS: dont matter if its your private property its not registered as landfield ;)
Yeah, but no. He clearly states he is burying it for a year.
Lighten UP, Francis...
@@patrickradcliffe3837 dont matter the amount of time
@@LogitechXibanga actually it does everything mentioned does not apply. All the hazardous materials are safely contained inside the car. Those containers are not gonna breakdown in one year.
@@patrickradcliffe3837 maybe in america
Whislin Hoovie!
So next year he will undig this car, sell it to Tavarish and then Fredy will take it to Demo Ranch.
I feel like BMW's been improving their rep with the current gen of drive trains like the B58 and B48 along with the ZF transmissions.
Not really I had a friend who blew his B58 engine on a 2017 340i
@@porschefanatic1049 Every engine in existence ever has examples that fail. Having A friend who blew a B58 means literally nothing in the grand scheme of things.
I liked how that thing looked and am sad it's destroyed now (even though I know it was a pain and didn't make sense to sink more money into it). 😢
I have a huge amount of mechanical sympathy. So I feel you on this one.
It is hideous and deserved its fate. ALL crossover 'coupes' should be buried as such.
dig it up! its been a year!
Wouldn't it make more sense to sell it to a salvage yard as a parts car?
Content baby
4:31 pretty weird looking clouds there in the US
drivetribe also did the manual swap but on a e61 m5 if i remember correctly it completely transformed the car and that car had fire damage so i cant imagine they paid 15k for the swap, maybe its more difficult or less parts availability in the states 🤷♂
Can't wait to see when it gets dug up!
I would have loved to have that X6.. shame to see it die:(
I love that you do this without draining the fluids from it. So they can seep into soil of your farm, as they leak out of the crappy car you buried in the ground.
New neighbor moves in next door. "Hope they are not a serial killer who buries bodies on there land" Hoovies........Evil laughter as he buries bodies on his land.
Would still like to see the manual swap for the M6 come to fruition.
Whether that’s with a different transmission or a Kennedy engineering adapter plate.
Somehow it would have been interesting to see what would have happened, had you built your garage on the grave of a BMW. Would it have come back to haunt it?
Hoovie will be haunted by BMW’s for as long as he keeps buying them.
Foundations issues
Hoovie is remarkably OK with getting defrauded. I guess it all still makes for good content
I mean he kicked the car and buried it. I'm not sure I would call that OK.
@@mediocreman2 Then I guess even his anger is entertaining and charming.
More than a year has passed! Time to DIG IT UP
thank you for this! I have been wanting to do this to my bmw for quite some time
Real environmentally friendly of you... Why didn't you recycle the steel in that car?
THIS is the hoovie content I've missed so much. Thank you for burying that POS appropriately.
Hoovie: " So Ninja, how many of your customers have lost their life savings pouring their hard earned money into their BMW's?"
Ninja: "I lost count, but if they insist on giving me their money I will take it."
Conclusion: NINJA IS A SMART MAN
Love it! I worked at a BMW dealership back in the day. When these X6M's were new they had major issues then. Glad to see no more!
Hey Tyler, just wondering, there will be a new season of car trek soon, let's say before the new year?
