    Thank you a billion times over for posting this and being so detailed. I’m a 63 year old woman who already paid too much for one of these and now I did it myself!

    Thank you. When screwing the bulb back into the housing (clockwise turn), it really helps to use an angled adjustable plier (for plumbing). I tried to tighten the bulb back in by hand for 1/2 hour, but could not turn clockwise on either bulb housing, but a wrench fixed that immediately. Also, on the driver side, it helps to remove the strut bar, which is secured with three 10mm bolts, so that you can access the bulb more easily.

    I just changed the passenger side low beam bulb on my 2017 Pacifica Ltd. This video gave enough tips, to get me to wonder how long it would take. Did the actual replacement in 15 minutes. I did not find the cable too short. I could easily get the bulb with the cable still attached out of the hole and then pull off the connector. The cable is a shielded cable with an outer stainless steel braided covering. Perhaps those that found the cable to short, had the cable hung up somewhere.
    The light bulb as shown in the video is a HID (Xenon) bulb with stainless steel DS3 base. This is important when looking for an aftermarket unit. Also be sure to get the right colour temperature. I guessed the original was 6000k. Found it (aftermarket) on Amazon. Came as a pair complete with nice white gloves on for $39.95. So I have a spare for when the other side goes.
    Probably the hardest part was reinserting the bulb. Getting the right position and then turning it clockwise took a bit of fiddling. 2nd time around would be faster.

      Original is 4300k. I am on the verge of trying to replace the bulb with a 5000k one.

    This specific video just helped me out a huge amount. Had to swap out both of these as the dealership i bought it from used put a 24v bulb in that blew quickly, and needed both to match. Even with this video its still a pain to get things in place but would have been way worse otherwise

    Thanks worked like a charm. Luckily for me, on my 2017 Pacifica Limited, the plug cable IS long enough to plug in while the bulb is completely out of the housing, with plug cable to spare.

    Thanks for sharing! I had to remove that cross bar on top of the light area so I could get my meat chops into that tiny hole to turn the light to pull it out. Once I did that it was really easy.

    Please be careful when handling the bulb. Try not to touch the glass part with your skin the oils can cause early demise. Wipe clean with denatured alcohol, alcohol or use gloves.

    Yup both of ours went out. What we thought was way to soon. Our dealer wanted $660 to do both. I was shocked just for bulbs!!!

    Thanks for the great video - doing think I'd ever have figured it out otherwise. I agree that removing that strut certainly helped. And an additional inch on the cable would have made a world of difference. Or if they made the top of the housing removable, rather than working thru that plug hole at the back - I think if I ever have to replace it again the housing will be modified with an oscillating saw. And finally - I've no experience with bid lamps in automotive, but lots in projection. If a unit is under warranty is always replace a bad hid with an oem, cost be damned. But after warranty I buy the cheap ones from Amazon, as I did for my Pacifica. Once in a great while they've been problematic, but no more so than oem. As they say, YMMV.

    Thank you, this is extremely helpful. Weren’t you concerned with the possibility of electrical shock? As I understand it HID bulbs are more dangerous than others because of the electricity stored in the capacitor. I’m a little leery of doing this especially when you mentioned that you needed a screwdriver to remove the connector. Do you think it’s safe?

    • @mguerramd
      @mguerramd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I survived it! In any case a screwdriver shorted across the terminals of a capacitor is what’s usually done to discharge them. If I recall, the terminals for the bulb are recessed in the connector housing such that you would not short across them with your skin. And, it never crossed my mind to worry about it at the time😃

    Thank you for this. I have been driving around with dim headlights and took it to a dealer who just told me the lights went dim. Luckily, he didn’t have the bulbs on hand to charge me. Took it to autozone to get new bulbs and
    diagnosed the problems was the bulbs weren’t seated. It makes a huge difference.

    Question;
    Did you get the same brand as stock? I also own a 2017 limited. But I find the HID lights average at best.

    • @mguerramd
      @mguerramd  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used the exact same Phillips D3S bulbs. The originals both burned out much quicker than I heard they should last. I had maybe 700- 900 hours on them. These are the bulbs, and they checked out as legit, not counterfeit. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008BRJ712/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

      It’s a minor PIA but saves a TON of money to change the bulb yourself. Plus you don’t have to go to the dealer, drop off your car and so on.

    The hard part is connecting the plug back into the bulb...the connector is short .. and not as flexible
    You might not want to touch the bulb it has gas in it your humid fingers can make it blow back out.

    Great video! This worked great for me. It's amazing/shocking to me how much the dealerships want to charge to do this.
    I agree with the earlier comment that you should use channel locks or pliers to tighten the bulb. Just be careful not to over tighten

    you'll be doing it again soon. NEVER touch the glass part with your fingers. It shortens the life span dramatically. Skin oils ruin the bulb. use gloves if you must touch the glass
