Awesome band, I love them! I have all of their CDs and 5 or 6 vinyls of them. I even have a book about them 😅 Thanks for the interview and for keeping your channel active, it's nice to have something new from you while you sadly play no more music 🙁🙂
The Year Punk Broke is an amazing film. I have never been able to figure out if the title was "the year punk broke into the mainstream industry" (which is true,) "the year punk fell apart," or rather the dichotomy of the two.
It was just a "cheeky" title. The bands featured in the film all had roots in the Punk scene, also "Grunge" & Alternative Rock exploded into the mainstream in 1991 so they felt the title was fitting for their generation of musicians at that time.
@@SaintMartins Cheeky seems legit. I grew up with the director. He even once recorded a song with the sole intent on mocking me... which I think still have on "cassette."
the quote "the year punk broke" refers to motley crue's horrendous cover of "anarchy in the u.k." that they did for their 1991 greatest hits album as it was a hit yet HATED by punk purists.
@@thevoid99 Do you think the movie was about a song glam/heavy metal band Motley Crue released? It's a tour documentary. I mean maybe. That would be some next level satire. XD
@@Psychol-Snooper In the movie you can actually see Thurston discussing the the Motley Crue incident and using the phrase '1991 is the year punk finally broke'. At that tome it was a joke and used sarcasticly but a few months after the tour with Nirvana (and filming the material), Nevermind was released and the 'grunge/altenative explosion' happened. So the name gained another dimension and almost a prophetic one...

So they can act like adults, I just found this after watching a Nardwaur interview were they literally bulllied him like schoolyard children. It was pathetic

These boys bullied Nardwuar. The apologized. And then bullied him some more. They asked for this negative attention. Imagine ruining your whole career because you think it’s funny to bully someone who is as nice and caring as, Nardwuar. You’re not gonna grow up, as a band, you’re done.
Great album "Dirty" 🖤
I thought it was about 5 tracks too long.
The camera angle makes lee look so tall like an adult sitting with a bunch of teenagers it makes me laugh
Nah, he always seems like an adult sitting with teenagers 😅
This band really made the difference in rock history, they invented their own sound!
Concur
What a joke 😂
Probably the most important modern band. And by that I mean since the 80d

"Whoa whoa whoa!!! NOT Soundgarden." Thank you Lee😂😂😂💯

Wow, what a total treasure the Sonic Youth are... Pearl Jam, Nirvana looking up to these losers. So fabricated... so produced... yikes.

Those boots and big hair are both awful and nostalgically triggering
