- Taking Rob Richardson's new Dehavilland Dove for a spin, digging into this new freeware aircraft's behavior and features as we explore!
(Note, there is no manual, so I'm learning as you do too)

I agree with you, it would be nice to see more post-war British airliners in the sim. I’m hoping we will get a viscount one day!
I also hope for a Viscount. It was insanely overshadowed by the Electra, 377, dc6 and earlier dc3. (Comming from an American) I really do hope for a viscount, it doesn't get enough attention
Everyday on my stream people say they love your videos. You aren't selling out, just keep being honest to what you would expect, do, like to see, etc. That's what people want to hear!
I’d love a Handley Page Dart Herald or electra in this game eventually. We definitely need more British made airliners!
That's the sort of plane you expect Gasby to rock up in! I can just see Leo walking down the stairs with a glass of baby cham 🦌 🥂
I love the REALLY old school quilted walls and ceiling in the cockpit.
its a magical old coach of a aircraft... and AvAngel is a wing walker too....
Another AWESOME flight. 👍🏽Given! ... I went to freshen up my cup of coffee and grab a couple more cookies, (that's bisquits to you Avvie) and when I returned you were *STILL* on final into Innsbruck😂
I've only had a quick tinker with it in New Zealand, and found it was very pleasant to fly. Airliners aren't really my thing, but at that price tag, nobody can complain!
Thanks for sharing another wonderful flight. I shall definitely have to have a flight in this airliner. It's really nice to see something like this available, instead of another Airbus or Boeing type, modern glass cockpit aircraft. 😮
OK, obviously the FS community appreciates anything freeware and limitations are expected, but there are a few things here that I'd really like to see addressed. Firstly, there's that inability to change any of the radio frequencies, which makes IFR impossible by conventional means (e.g., using only the included flight instruments). Also, nether the prop nor mixture levers have any effect (except for fuel cut-off--and I have zero assists). If you're only interested in VFR and don't mind things like "enforced auto-mixture" and no ability to navigate other than by dead reckoning, this is nicely done visually (considering) and it flies reasonably well (although I've never flown a real Dove for comparison). A gusty crosswind landing was no problem, although it doesn't look like they nailed the v-speeds, as a dirty Dove stalls at 64 kt and you're dipping below that on approach (as you mention--vRef should be 83 kt)! If the developers (or a third party) enable radio tuning (and/or add a GPS--maybe a 530), then we've got something here.
I’m all for more post war British airliners!!! We sorely need more vintage options in the commercial aviation space. Good stuff
I've seen payware that isn't up to the standard of this Devon. Great plane and great review, thankyou.
Freeware... ! Good! Still need to buy a new disk for all those planes!
Thank you for the review, downloading the plane now
The Dove is a beautiful little plane. Maybe someone will do a Heron too?
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a Dove, but I have seen a Devon at Yeovilton.
There used to be a Dove resident at Compton Abbas. No idea whom owned it but the airfield owner occasionally used to do circuits in it.
As usual another great flight by the best TH-cam test pilot. Nice one AvAngel
Hi AvAngel. Thanks for the review :)
This is one if the best payware airports over the Alps (with exception of the Asobo french gas station) . However lot of wonderful freeware airports for Austria.
What a lovely representation of a lovely aircraft! I hope someone does a Gipsy Queen soundset for this, it sounds so weird here. Thanks for sharing, AvAngel!
Switzerland snow will still fall but not stay on the ground for that long so i guess Innsbruck isnt this snowy in February nowadays
I love that plane!
I was about to suggest this one!
You also nailed the pronunciation of "Füssen" ! We will make you an honorary German/Austrian ... lol
One thing I miss in propeller airplanes in sims are vibrations. Anyone who has flown piston prop planes know how much they trembre and shake depending on the power setting. The only developer that seems to care about this detail is A2A. It’s something so simple but so inmersive… I wish this small details were taken more seriously in the sim world.
Great video as always. I did a bit of time in an RNZAF Devon ( as a signaller rather than pilot) nice airplane, but a bit of a bugger if you are over 1.8 metres tall 😁
Of course in desperation you could press V for the Asobo GPS map as a crude but effective navaid.............................
Now, can we get a model of Flash Gordon in the cockpit ⚡
Nice presentation! thanks! :(
....my feet got cold watching this.
Reminder. H is spelt and pronounced "AITCH". But I still love you!
It’s pronounced differently between accents and dialects American vs uk etc
@@AvAngel OK. But you are British, like me. I know you work with Americans, of course.
None of this really matters, I guess.🤓
@@AvAngel Hmm!
is there any light for the instruments?
I downloaded the plane but unfortunately I see just a pink and white checker pattern of where a texture map should load for the whole plane. Not sure what happened there.
Thank you for the video! I got the Dove straight away too. Which airport did you take off from?
LOWZ, Zell Am See (orbx)
Thanks for your great video and please allow me to explain why the engine cowling is open. Well, at such a high-altitude airport you take off with the cowling open to act as an extra wing for increased lift, it's standard procedure in the De Havilland. Alles ist klar, right? :)
LOL! Love it! Ja ist es klar!
is this similar to the DC3 overall?
Smaller in capacity similar speed
This looks a bit too big for this airport. Been there URL and cannot imagine this plane would ever land here?
Land at Insbruck? I think it can manage. Technically the Dove is fine with 2200ft, not much but it can manage it.
@@AvAngel Insbruck yes no problem. I ment Zell am see (LOWS) where you took off from.
However I just saw that it is 2559 feet, so you should indeed be fine I guess. Optically i didn't match but i must have misjudged.
I used to be a sim-outhouse regular, going on almost two decades ago. The name alone really took me back.
I wonder if I still remember the password to idancesafetydance.
