  • I made this video to go onto a website (harris1424.wixsite.com/dischool) that was a project for my Master's Degree in Education at Point Loma Nazarene University. However, this is a relevant period of instruction for those wanting to learn sword manual.

    Semper Fidelis. Thank you very much, this is the best sword tutorial for what I need to learn. I am in the Honor Guard for a small American Legion, since I have my USMC NCO sword, I have been asked to do the sword for USMC funerals, for other funerals I am assigned a M-1 Garand for the rifle salute, or our Legion Post Flag when no rifle salute is requested.

Now that I’m out all I wanna know is the length I need 💀. Still a cool video though. I see you said 5”6-5”9 is 28” sword. I’m 5”8 so I’m assuming that would be perfect

    • @adamharris4707

      Most likely 28", depends on how long/short your arms and torso are. The tip of the sword should be even with your ear.

      Nope, only NCO & Officer swords and even then only those moves, they don't teach you how to use it in combat. Not that it matters since neither sword comes sharpened and probably won't hold an edge very well either since the blades probably aren't a high carbon steel, they are, after all, only mean for ceremonial purposes and not as actual weapons.

      @@adamharris4707 I'm looking to become a midshipmen one day in NROTC and am looking for a way to practice the drill of the sword along with being physically fit so that I'm a little ahead. Every educational institution should automatically grant every SNCO a master's degree in education.

    • @blackbogbrewing3186
      @blackbogbrewing3186 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Most of my SNCOs, with the exception of a few First Sergeants, couldn't read or write, so I'd have to disagree. Plus I don't understand what you want their degree to be in, and don't understand how a free Master's Degree will help them do any job besides the one they performed in the Military. This doesn't work for an MOS like infantry, artillery, and other combat related jobs. Your heart's in the right place, but I don't think you've thought this one through.

    • @SadethCheng
      @SadethCheng 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was being somewhat sarcastic with my previous comment. I am aware of the stigma regarding the illiteracy of some SNCOs as seen in the inability of some to read promotion warrants without stuttering and mispronouncing the words. I also do not believe that combat arms MOS are at a disadvantage compared to other MOSs when it comes to job/educational opportunities in the civilian world. The soft skills they acquired from service (leadership, communication, operational planning, team-based skills, ect.) often have a bigger impact than their hard/technical skills (weapons handling, ect.) I've seen grunts become successful entrepreneurs, MPs become mechanical engineers, aviation mechanics become construction workers. Your MOS doesn't necessarily dictate what you can do successfully do in the civilian world. The intent of my previous comment was to somewhat elaborate of one of the roles of SNCO which is to educate/mentor those under them (hence why I mentioned "Masters in Education) in a sarcastic way while keeping in mind that not all SNCOs are the best at doing this role.

    • @jpbernie72

      There are actually many enlisted Marines with bachelors and post graduate degrees. We definitely saw an influx of this after 911. Just a couple years ago a real rocket scientist (PhD in rocket science enlisted. Also, to your point, many colleges and universities are accepting military education as academic credit toward their degrees. So, while they may not be awarding masters degrees to NCOs, academia does realize the value of military education. What upsets me is the fact that the military does not seek accreditation for their courses. They leave this to the ACE (American Council on Education) which is a joke.
