"Why not me?" 247th MC Birthday Luncheon GoH Speech - Desert Hot Springs MCJROTC - 11.10 2022
มุมมอง 146ปีที่แล้ว
I was invited to be the Guest of Honor at the Desert Hot Springs Marine Corps League / MCJROTC 247th Birthday Luncheon. I wrote a speech for the Cadets titled "Why not me?" It was a great honor to be there and I had a great time.
NCO Sword Manual USMC

I made this video to go onto a website (harris1424.wixsite.com/dischool) that was a project for my Master's Degree in Education at Point Loma Nazarene University. However, this is a relevant period of instruction for those wanting to learn sword manual.

    I was in a retirement parade, and as we started our pass and review the Staff Sgt in charge called Eyes Right he dug the sword in the pavement and snapped the first inch or so off the sword. Turns out he NEVER marched with a sword before.

    Yeah I never bought one when I was in and hit Cpl cause they did away with tanks and sent me to a different MOS so I never had the opportunity to go to cpls course. Now that I’m out all I wanna know is the length I need 💀. Still a cool video though. I see you said 5”6-5”9 is 28” sword. I’m 5”8 so I’m assuming that would be perfect

    • @adamharris4707
      @adamharris4707 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely 28", depends on how long/short your arms and torso are. The tip of the sword should be even with your ear.

      I was fortunate enough to have my NCO Sword and Officer Mameluke Sword awarded to me, so I didn't have to buy them. The Marine Shop or the MCX are good places to look. They might not be the cheapest but you know they authentic. There are some fake ones out there, so be careful of that.

      @@adamharris4707 I'm looking to become a midshipmen one day in NROTC and am looking for a way to practice the drill of the sword along with being physically fit so that I'm a little ahead. The marine nco sword looks simplistic and good for practice. When your commissioned an officer in the marines or navy are you given a sword by tradition or is it only if you get lucky?

    • @adamharris4707
      @adamharris4707 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jtnelson8828 as an officer it depends on your commissioning route. I was a prior enlisted MECEP, and at my NROTC they awarded me an officer sword at graduation/commissioning for my performance while at their University. It all depends... but not every officer is "given" a sword, most have to purchase one. You can find a cheap replica online to practice with if that's all you're looking for. Just don't use it in a real ceremony later down the road.
