    I've never seen a more relatable video. I never got an official diagnosis, but I'm sure I have it. I'm also black, 6'4", a musician, and always called different or weird because of my docile nature. I've always had questions growing up. Trying to figure out why people thought I was different. Kind of always had low self-esteem because of my awkwardness. I was always the tallest in my class, but I was terrible at sports (except for football I could've been a good WR but I HATE contact). Once I hit about 10 or 11 I developed pseudo gynecomastia and would get teased about it pretty much into my adulthood. It was traumatizing, isolating. I developed depression because of these factors and had a hard time making friends. I still am afraid at 22, of having a gf because of what she might think of me or especially if we were to ever become intimate and I have to take off my shirt. I tend to sabotage myself whenever I sense a girl is starting to like me. It's horrible. I was in a brief relationship for the first time last year. We didn't last because of timing. I'm kind of glad we never got too in depth with our relationship. Seeing this, mentioning that you have a wife, knowing that there IS someone out there that can relate to the nuances of my life is comforting. I thank you for sharing your story. Maybe I'll have the confidence to share mine someday

      Thank you for viewing my video and reaching out. It takes courage to open up like that. I 100% understand and have lived what you're saying. Even though my life now is WAY better than it was even a year ago, I still struggle with things like body image and depression. For example, I gain weight easily and tend to stress-eat, and I still get depressed sometimes about things like family and underemployment despite having college degrees (That's another story). Of course, the idea of possibly never being a father is also haunting at times.
      I can't tell you how to completely end the struggle since I still struggle myself, although not as much anymore. I do know for a fact that you can change your life for the better. Challenge yourself to improve your circumstances. Appreciate the good things and people in your life, and realize that one-sided, negative interactions often come from folks with a bad spirit anyway. Trust me. I know what it's like to be "different" as a black male. You can eventually embrace who you are like I am now.

    Thank you for this video, it took a lot of courage. I started noticing this in my grandson over a year ago, he's 12 now. Now I understand so much better what he's going through. He's always tells me how nobody wants to be his friend, how depressed and angry he is which I couldn't understand because he has everything. But, I worried because of his chest, stress eating, all the symptoms I read here including no hair. He wants so desperately to have pubic hair and go through puberty that that's all he can talk about. I can't get his mother to get him help or even recognize that he has a problem. I'm his safe haven. He spends every weekend with me and now I'll be more supportive because now I understand all he's going through physically, emotionally and mentally. Thank you again and God bless y'all.

      Sure thing! I know firsthand what you say about your grandson. Middle school years were rough for me too both inside and outside school. It would be good to make sure that he gets into a nice expressive outlet. I think that studying meditation will help as well. It continues to help me stay in control. 🧘‍♀️ 🧘‍♂️
      I know firsthand that stress-eating often stems from lack of fulfillment. It is a struggle of mine that I have curbed but still struggle. Make sure that he gets the chance to succeed at something and celebrate, however small. Victories are always good for self-esteem.
      Fitting in with a whole bunch of people does not matter anyway. I know that I will stomp on toes with this comment, but I find that people who have a whole slough of "friends" tend to be toxic versus people who keep a close, balanced circle. Many folks mistake riffraff for friends unfortunately. Social media is a huge example of this.
      The irony too is that many folks who judge for petty reasons often want tolerance that they cannot even give to others unless they fit a certain mold. It is good for him in a way. It sounds like he almost exclusively attracts high quality people like grandma. Continue to guide him in building quality relationships, and it will be fine.

      Ryan and Roy, I’d be curious- with a lot of parents now doing genetic testing on their unborn babies (which I don’t understand), do you think it’s beneficial for parents to know this pre-birth? New to the conversation, I keep thinking it’s not worth knowing until much later- do you agree? I suppose it can explain some academic struggles and to use testosterone is helpful (teen years?) but I guess I’m a little saddened by the moms with babies seemingly stressed over the info already. Thoughts?

I feel closer to men who are less aggressive and have a reserved quality or even sensitive. I really like that. My son is going to be 3 years old and has XXY. Thank you for doing this video. My boyfriend of 3+ years has KS. He didn't find out till he was about 20-22 I think. It was hard for him.. Especially since he found out he could never have children.. That was extreamly hard for him. And he finally realized why his body was the way it is. It never bothered me.. And he is a great dad to my son (from another relationship) he was always so insecure about everything , but he's also SO happy all the time.. He has all the marker for it.

    I have KS and was diagnosed back in 4th grade (I'm currently 24), doctors always kept telling me the phrase "don't you want to be normal?" I took medication for 2 months then stopped. Can't explain why I stopped but I can say I'm satisfied with how my life is going.
    The mood swings took awhile to get past, the struggles to keep up with my friends for sports and all my experiences took awhile to get passed but I'm happy with my life. I did have my low times in life, but I also had my high times. Now a day's I'm a happy go lucky guy.
    Personally I don't understand some things such as certain emotions or feelings. My pain tolerance is high up there so I feel little to nothing. I'm not the strongest after my whole highschool of working out. And I wear a smile wherever I go.
    Currently I'm the strongest person at my warehouse job, it's a delivery place so I'm one of the package handlers. The 5 things you could possibly do is unloading, sorting, washing vans, scanning & stacking. I can manage to lift 150 lbs above my head on a daily basis, I'm one of the fastest unloaders and the best stacker on the shift. I wear shorts year round (I'm in MN), so the temperature gets down there. I'm currently working on getting promoted to a lead position. I'm pretty laid back, but can get serious if the situation asks for it.
    My current idea of life (for what I want for the future or later on) is I'm aiming for a 'simple serious lifestyle of solitude' which the way I interpreted it was I will most likely be alone throughout most of my life. But hey that's life. I'm not interested in the idea of marriage or the relationships. I'm just not interested in any gender, but I play parts to be able to fit in wherever I'm at. Sometimes I don't feel human. Sorry if I'm rambling on, I know there will probably be misspellings here and there but I tend to lose track of my thoughts as I type. I have bad memory and a bad way to put what I want to say into words. But this is who I am with whatever was put above this. Have a good/night and enjoy life even if you got to fake it at times :)

    I don't know if I have KS but as I read on the internet, symptoms are the same as mine so I may have it. You know what's even more worse is that I feel awkward everytime I'm in a social situations and literally look awkward (on how I move, speak etc) and physically look awkward. As I growing up, this gives me hard time to deal with this, really gets me upset and depressed makingbit even worst knowing that I have this condition. But yeah, that's life. Thanks for the vid man. I see I'm very late to the show, but I too am a black man with KS. My struggle's are much deeper than some because all my life I had to dodge the teasing and the bullying at a young age (around 7 or 8). My parents and some family members would tease and crack joke's about me around my friends. My friends would take to jokes and say them around teachers and some teachers also join in on the fun.
    Never taught to be tough, never told I could be great in life, my mother the most took me to many psychological youth testing center's to figure out why my focus of school and physical wonders off and on, and I notice to my mother (in her eye's) I seemed unwanted [since she always brought up about the story of following the doctor's suggestion to have me aborted...].
    All the stress and pain, not able to socialize and meet friends quickly, wasn't the out-going female chaser in my high school days' like my other male friends, late to the puberty party, always shy, very docile, very "to myself" even as an adult (even though I want to strongly tackle the world like an pure Alpha Male)... its always this brick wall I'm just mentally too weak to climb over.
    And it just adds to the pain.
    Just made a video of 'My Life with KS' and the physical appearance show's very much I've given up a long time ago, but it's just time to give some awareness to the good/bad/and ugly to this subject. For a 1 out of 500 to 1 out of 1000 males born with KS, that is a super common syndrome to be living with and 3/4 of the world probable doesn't know about it.

      Thanks for expressing that. I have firsthand experience of the same adversity during my pre-highschool years as well as my college years in Music School to a certain degree. People can be very catty because of them projecting their own lack. That being said, we also have to think how to improve ourselves, especially in adverse circumstances. I know that's easier said than done as I'm still in the thick of the path myself.

    Hey.I am medical student. Great video :) but I would recommend that you get the karyotype done.There are many reasons causing decreased testosterone levels. What if you have some other reason for your hypogonadism? what if your social problems are just part of your personality and your tall height is just genetic.Good luck for the future! :)

    • @roymiller5484
      @roymiller5484  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I definitely have Klinefelter's syndrome. The karyotype test would just be redundant. Even if I didn't have the condition, I would still be getting similar medical treatment. Testosterone doesn't just concern fertility. I'm sure you know that though.
      Social problems are a part of life. I'm sure you know that every interaction with someone isn't going to be productive. I'll admit (with or without Klinefelter's), it can be one-sided or a "two-way-street", depending on the situation.

    Getting back again on this video because someone bumped my comment. How is the life man? Hope you doin well! As for me, I've got everything on the line (except work). I don't feel or look much awkward anymore on social situations (there are still instances but it can pass lol). There's also a time that I cannot express my feelings or thoughts into words because I have issues with comminucation but not that severe as on my adolescent stage. I attribute that to people around me who love and accept me as I am (even tho they don't know what I'm dealing with). I'm very thankful. Enjoying and cherishing the present moment and not thinking too much on how I suppose to move or talk is what improved me and by that, most of the time I came across as natural and not awkward. (restricting movements because of self concious is what made me awkward. it's a vicious cycle!) Anyways man, you helped me in a way to understand myself. You are one of the people I give my gratitude towards to where I am today. I really hope you succeed in your career. Yo I like music too and art and stuff! Peace man.

    You can’t “self-diagnose”. XXy(Klinefelter), Xyy(Jacobs), and XXyy, all have overlapping symptoms. Also, you could be mosaic. That said, I’m pretty sure I have XXyy. Any way you cut it, it’s just nice to have an explanation for why I’m the way I am. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your story.

    Hi Roy, very nice video I am sure people will benefit from watching. I am not sure if I should say this, but I think you should do a genetic testing to confirm the diagnosis. There are some other conditions where is can be incorrectly or differentially diagnosed as Klinfelter's. Also the genetic testing (or karyotyping) will show whether you are mosaic for the condition meaning that not all of your body cells have XXY so maybe half of your body can be normal which could increase the chances of fertility and having a kid. I would recommend you do a simple Karyotype which should be very expensive. By the way I am PhD student studying medical genetics so it is kind of a scientific suggestion and this is :) I am not saying your doctor or symptoms don't make sense but I would really recommend you do a genetic testing because Klinefelters is genetic disorder and hormonal/biochemical tests should not make a final diagnosis, especially that Karyotyping is widely available. Best of luck Roy

    Thanks for posting this, it helped me calm down a bit because i have been depressed since I knew i had this syndrome. I knew i have this syndrome because we discussed it in our class, all the symptoms are spot on for me: I had less body hair, slightly enlarged lip for a male, man boobs and small reproductive system. I got really depressed for almost 3 years now when i knew i can't reproduce. I thought to my self "even if I had a wife, how would i explain that i can't give her a child", "how would i explain it to the doctor if i go get a medical exam, it will be embarrassing etc.". up until now i feel really REALLY sad about my condition and worse of all my family, more importantly I don't know how to tell my parents about my condition

    • @roymiller5484
      @roymiller5484  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Orange Pickle I understand. I have had depression long before I figured out my Klinefelter's. My diagnosis was and still is difficult to accept. The infertility is definitely one of the worst parts of the condition.
      I can't tell you that things get easier per se, but I can tell you that you don't have to feel ashamed about having Klinefelter's. Seek medical and psychological help. That helped me. We don't get to choose how we're born, but (for the most part) we choose how to live our life.

      Sweetheart don’t be afraid. Have you been diagnosed by a doctor? Or do you just suspect that you have it? I urge you to tell a trusted family member that you have suspicions about having this. You definitely need to go to the doctor and have the test done and if you do have it then they can give you the testosterone that you need. The earlier you get the therapy the earlier they can help you with the symptoms. My little boy is XXY and he’s 3 and to me he is beautiful and perfect. I’m sure your family members love you and would want to help you in every way they can. If anything his condition is my fault not his. This condition is likely to occur in women who are older when they get pregnant. I was 40. Please don’t be afraid. My little boy is always getting compliments on how adorable he is. No one out there knows he has it and I’m sure no one knows you do either. But, going to the doctor the sooner the better will help you with your condition. They even have ways of saving your sperm in case you want to have a child. It’s no different than women who save their eggs.

    Thanks for sharing. I'm 46 and still officially undiagnosed, but 99% match on all the symptoms (and as you know, it's a long list). Just glad I don't have an intellectual disability (other than mild ADHD) and I corrected some of the physical weirdness caused by late puberty to some extent by using some testosterone and anbolics in my early 20s. unfortunately it was too late then to rectify the lacking bone development, mainly apparent in my forearms and hands.
    After 20 years of depression and 10 years of finding refuge in drugs, I did manage to build out a decent life and career. Been happily married for 13 years. I have recently started TRT because my testosterone kept meandering in lower regions of normal range and am currently fitter than the large majority of my contemporaries. And I never wanted kids (which might be a consequence of always having felt a bit immature), so no issues there.
    So just want to say, even though I would have preferred not to have this, it's possible to live a full life. It might be worth for some to try and address lifestyle and hormonal issues where appropriate. Oh yeah, and don't do the 10 years of drug use like I did. Doesn't help with anything.

      It sounds like you don't have Klinefelter's Syndrome. Even if you did, there's no need to be depressed or suicidal. It's not a debilitating condition. The worst for me is emotional sensitivity and reduced fertility. Even those aren't so bad, and are rather advantageous. I'm living proof. My wife and I even had a son (who looks just like me) earlier this month. Matter fact, I'm rocking him to sleep right now lol.
      Trust me! It beats being self-absorbed with substance abuse issues like most folks in the U.S. nowadays 😆. Value and prioritize the life that you have with your baby girl.

      @roymiller5484  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey. Sorry for the delay. I'm glad to know that you are interested. I commend you for loving someone with the condition. I can't speak for other people with the condition since I am the only person who I know with a Klinefelter's diagnosis. I will share my experience.
      Growing up, I was always told that I was "different", but I wasn't exactly sure what it was. Truth be told, it can be very awkward at times. In my case, I am actually a very extroverted person, but I "code" for normal and avoid instigators/riffraff by being quiet or stoic in certain social settings. I equate it with the saying "don't throw your pearls to swine".
      Regarding women, I think the condition is a plus in certain ways. Men with Klinefelter's tend to possess ample empathy and care toward others; maybe, it's from having so much estrogen. My wife even thinks that I'm overprotective sometimes. The women who I attract as friends and mates tend to be bookworms and artists. Maybe your relationship is similar. I hope that I helped.

    Been doing a lot of research on klinefelter recently and watching a lot of vids because I’m quite paranoid about it. I’m worried I may have it because I have had ‘moobs’ for as long as I can remember. Been to the doctor several times regarding it and I was always told they’ll eventually go away as I get older even though I was already in my late teens when I went about it but they could never be bothered to check my testosterone levels. Every now and then people will comment about it and point out that I have them. They’re still there and I’m 23 now. A few things going for me though is that I’m very hairy due to my med roots. I’ve got a full chest/stomach of hair and I’ve had facial hair since the age of about 15. I keep reading men with XXY struggle to grow body and facial hair but apparently not all men so I’m not sure. Have you ever had the ability to grow body and facial hair or do you just shave?
    I started puberty fairly young and my voice deepened at the normal age and I was having sex young. I always had a very high sex drive as a teen and was in and out of relationships with a very healthy sex life but this has dipped off in recent years. I’m hoping this is purely because I’m getting older and don’t have as much testosterone anymore I also go through stages of depression fairly regularly because I can’t seem to help fucking things up for myself all the time so this won’t help with my testosterone levels I’m just hoping I’m normal because the thought of not being able to produce sperm and have kids kills me. I’m about 5’11 / just about 6 foot by the way and don’t think my arms and legs are abnormally long but I do gain weight very easy and it all seems to go to my stomach and hips which are supposedly ‘feminine’ areas so I’m not sure about klinefelter, sounds ridiculous but I’ve even been measuring the length of my tesciles lately just praying they’re within the ‘normal’ range. I’m hoping I’m just paranoid
    I’d say I have a very confident and out going persona. A lot of girls have called me cocky growing up but they seem to be attracted to that trait it’s always worked for me. I know this definitely isn’t a trait of XYY (quite the opposite in fact) but I do think it’s peculiar that I’ve always suffered with moobs and gain fat in the areas I mentioned. I am certainly ‘curvy’ for a guy I’m just hoping this is due to Mediterranean heritage. Do you think I tick enough boxes for someone suffering from XYY?

      Roy Miller Hear me out. I’ve been going back and fourth to urologist for last 2 months getting blood work done because I have concerns with my development. I thought I had klinefelters or Turner syndrome but turns out my t level is 500 and the urologist said I have no form of hypogonadism. But I’m confused because normal puberty changes that are supposed to occur in males during early teens didn’t happen to me. My genitals haven’t enlarged , my voice hasn’t really deepened & I don’t have noticeable Adam’s apple. I do have pubic hair , armpit hair , thigh hair , ass hair & my gotee is staring to come in. According to doctors the first sign that you’re entering puberty is when balls get bigger and mine haven’t yet so does this mean I am a late developer and it will happen eventually ? Because my t levels are normal and I have no kind of hypogonadism.

      I'm not sure. It sounds like your condition maybe indirectly connected to Klinefelter's if at all. Either way, you should seek medical attention for it. A doctor, nurse, or counselor/psychologist could help. Best wishes!

      A state of being.... I like your way of thinking.
      I have Kleinfelter's Syndrome. I am NOT confused about my gender. I am a straight male who dreams of marrying a woman (who was born a woman). But I am still single, as I have been most my life. I am 6'3", 185 lbs, sparse facial, arm and leg hair, yet have hair down south. I have massive depression and anxiety. I am very coordinated. I have taken many dance classes, etc. 115 IQ. Infertile and low self esteem. Muscular and a deep voice. Small testes, but normal penis. No problems with libido or erections. I think I am Mosaic. I took testosterone for awhile, but it made me sick and also angry. So I stopped.
      Your video made my day. Your outlook is inspiring.

    • @doriemckay6935
      @doriemckay6935 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ Eric Rider.. are there varying degrees of this? How can they say you were born a woman if you have normal penis? Do you have ovaries? Not being hateful or poking fun at all, just now learning bc i love medical info.

    • @roymiller5484
      @roymiller5484  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We share many similarities. The big difference is that we're the same height, but I'm about almost 50 pound heavier lol. Also, I'm not very coordinated except when it comes to doing saxophone or martial arts.
      I don't know my IQ. I personally think IQ tests are B.S. Most written tests rarely allow you to showcase applied knowledge anyway.
      I still take my testosterone, and I thankfully haven't had a bad reaction. I try to induce testosterone production by doing cardio and labor whenever I can.
      Thanks! I'm glad my video inspired you. Hopefully, our discussion is bringing more understanding to Klinefelter's Syndrome. Maybe there will be better health treatment soon.

    • @roymiller5484
      @roymiller5484  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are variations. For example, Mosaic means that not all the cells have 47 chromosomes. Some may have 46 chromosomes... hence, the name.
      Klinefelter's syndrome put's you in a grey are with gender, but it doesn't make you feminie by virtue. That being said, there are some folks with Klinefelter's Syndrome who are born with gonadal differences. In my own research through medical websites and social media, I even found out that many trans women have Klinefelter's syndrome. Personally, I definitely have Klinefelter's, but I've never had ambiguity with gonadal differences or gender identity. Best wishes to those that do.

      Roy Miller, thanks. Memory is a huge issue, if I recall correctly. I am also concerned with helping : focus, energy, self motivation, over sensitivity, self control, speech fluency, competitive pride, desire to exercise. You obviously got control over these years ago. But any idea if T can help these. But let me focus the question on: speech, focus, and self discipline. Though the speech solution is probably more about the self discipline to practice.

    • @roymiller5484
      @roymiller5484  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Different scientist say different thing, but nothing really seems like a solid idea. Personally, I think my lack of coordination comes from the hormonal imbalance and my frame being unusually full from the waist down. I have never had a thigh gap even at my thinnest lol. My legs are still the last place that I lose weight, especially around my hips and thighs.

      It definitely is okay. The worst part about steroids which was infertility wont affect you . However u might lose all chances to be a dad under that condition. I have something very similar to Klinefelter but I'm 5'4 in height, am 25 years old, am almost very hairy, am balding at the sides of my hairline, has a hairline that bends into different shapes, am a dancer, and I don't take t-shots-don't need to-but I would die without insuline shots. You see, I have type 1 diabetes, so I take vaccines filled with this clear saline like liquid called insuline for it everyday, at least three times a day. I insert the needle pen into my belly or my outer thighs, no other place is appropriate for insertions.
    Being a gay man, I embrace my flexible hips, small gut that makes my bellybutton look like a smiling mouth, my thick round thighs, my medium-sized jiggly butt, and the fact that one of my shoulders is broader and tiny bit stiffer than the other which is tiny bit looser-great at shoulder shimmying- but I'm insecure about it for it looks almost childlike-delicate and has a bony peg at the back corner of it. Being sexually intimate with gay men, gay ex bfs of mine - they saw me as their young thick sexy hairy wise father-figure husband material daddy. Yet they always still have asked me or silently pondered "why didn't you tell me you were secretly a woman? I respnded" You think I'm a woman cause of my bony hips and pelvis? cause of my flat chest with pointy fatty nipples?". I always responded with "They're fatty nipples not pseudo breasts. Women have meaty hips and my hips are just bone and muscle!" That's just how I saw my body and still continue to see it, as the body of a man with pointy nipples and hips wrapped in a soft layer of muscle yet powerfully flexible that are separated from surrounding skin by "hip-dentures". I don't believe myself to be intersex being that I always had only external and internal male sex organs. And yes, I was born with a straight-haired mullet when I was pulled out from my mama, yet both of my parents had curly hair as kids; mine then naturally curled a year after I was born. Without taking hormone therapy, I am a go with the flow, loving, energetic, energy-deficient, determined, confident, and verbally and physically aggressive person that makes quick social moves. I don't know what I have but it's not true Klinefelter for I am on the short average range of height: 5 ft 3 and a quarter to 4 inches in height and physically already done with puberty; being 25.
