Does Royal Oak Super Size Charcoal Briquets Hold Up Well In The Oklahoma Joe's Bronco?

  • I love testing brand name charcoal briquets in the Oklahoma Joe's Bronco to see which ones perform the best. In this video I test Royal Oak Super Size charcoal briquets. Its advertised as 50% bigger. I fill up the charcoal basket and cook spare ribs doing the 3-2-1 method. See if the full charcoal basket of Royal Oak does the job. 5-25-24

Thanks for the review. I have a Bronco I bought about a year ago - partially due to your channel. I made a couple of modifications. The Bronco Pro charcoal basket fits the Bronco for longer cook. It lasts over 12 hours. Another modification is to buy a second shelf - then the cover fits well. Both from the Oklahoma Joe website.

You're welcome! I'm glad my channel helped with you deciding on buying your Bronco. I had thought about buying the Bronco Pro charcoal basket, but since I can get 20-plus hours out of some charcoal, I opted not to buy it. The second shelf is a must. It helps out so much. I'm glad I bought one.

I’ve only ever used their lump charcoal, never knew they made briquettes. I’d prefer the briquettes, me thinks. But I do like Kingsford. Thanks for the vid!

You're welcome, and thank you for watching. The briquets did a good job. I plan on using them again.

I use the Royal Oak Lump charcoal sometimes for certain cooks. Burns a little hotter and faster . I will try the larger size charcoal sometime but I use kingsford most of the time. I like the lump charcoal with cherrywood or applewood for grilled salmon or pork. Also the lump is good for grilling! Hotter, but burns up faster. Soaking the cherry or apple chunks overnight really helps.

I gotta try the Royal Oak lump. I'm all about finding what charcoal or lump works the best with the Bronco when it comes to long cooks.

i've been using the cowboy briquets from walmart , two 20lb bags sold together so 40 pounds for $17 . i've gotten over 10 hours easily on the regular basket on my bronco and i've gone 16 hours on the large basket and shut it down because i was done but i'm sure i could have gone a few more hours . i usually cook slow @ 225-250 . thanks and take care Moe :)

Thank you for watching, and you also take care. The Cowboy briquets are good. I used them for the first time in my Weber Kettle, and I was impressed. Soon, I will try it in my Bronco.

The Bronco is so much fun to cook on. It is very versatile. It also holds temp pretty well.

These are interesting because I was disappointed with their lump. You get maybe a half of a bag of nice lump and the rest is tiny pieces.

I have yet to try their lump. I plan on to. I'm getting great results with their briquets.

B&B makes a really good briquette that is twice as big as those...

I love using B&B. So far they are the best that I have used with the Bronco.

For the Bronco, yes. I can't say how well they are on other grills. I didn't have an issue using them.
