Pure joy seeing and hearing this. Yellow jumpsuit, Keith and Ronnie riffing it out, Ian Mclagan on rockin piano, and a groove that could make dead men dance. Can’t get more rock n roll than this. And what a voice on Rod the Mod!
An absolute joy for sure. Man, that's some kick ass s---! I didn't know who the piano was. But, I do now; I'm going to look him up. Thanks Keeffan 👍👍👍🎼🎶
You left out the MOST important members of the band, the drummer and bass. WIthout them the whole thing falls apart. They are the engine room of every band

I'm at the faces one night out back the stage door in Anaheim. We got a lot of talking in. I asked Kenny Jones what he thought Charlie Watts? He said what do you want me to say he's a bloody good friend of mine 😂
The greatest sound ever produced on this good Earth is the sound of Keith Richards chopping wood. Tightly articulated rhythm guitar chords NEVER sounded better! The genesis of the Art of Weaving.

Great performance, great memories! I don't think even Keith knew, at that time, that Ronnie would be joining 'The Boys' about 2 months after this performance.
I remember when this originally aired in tv. The gave the Faces the whole program and showed an hour of this concert . Wolfman Jack did an interview with Stewart. I had seen this same film at the midnight movie theater a month of so before it came on tv. I was a 12yr old Rod Stewart fanatic in 1975. Faces still my favorite bsnd of all time.
I loved reading that when mick taylor quit the stones, ronnie was at a party at robert stigwoods house and mick turned to him and said, "do you think he's serious"? After numerous auditions, woody was the obvious choice...after all he looked like keiths little brother. Loved the mick taylor years, though.
Rod really sticks to the gritty swing of Chuck's original and Keith has always been Berry's biggest fan and it shows. Brilliant bit of footage. TMS was such a killer music show.
Absolutely superb, 2 of the best rhythm guitarists that this country has ever produced having a great time - their chemistry and friendship clearly on show.....sad that it meant the end for the Faces but Ronnie has been great in the Stones.
So tight between Keith and Ronnie. The writing was on the wall and Taylor was walking out the back door when Ronnie was walking in the front door. The birth of the best weavers in Rock n roll 😎
The Midnight Special, really showed some amazing musicians and artists. This was the place to be seen to let the people see how amazing your music is. They sure put on a lot of phenomenal musicians on there. This is one hell of a performance. I'm truly loving this. Rock and Roll is never going to die. With artists like this it will always be alive and well.
Ronnie Wood was an excellent fit for becoming a Rolling Stone. I think it was a month or two later Ronnie would be playing with his new band in NYC on the back of a flatbed truck to advertise kicking off the Stone's 75 US tour.
Yep, in June. Saw them on that tour at the Forum in L.A. and Keef was smacked out of his mind. It's on youtube and it's ugly. But still an amazing concert
This video confirms for me something I've told others, that Rod sung with his back to the audience approximately half the time. I saw the Faces in 73. Nobody believes me. I don't believe it was shyness but that he really thought we would rather see his ass than him facing the audience. A sort of pandering to the girls in the audience anyway.
Now I know where the term singing out yer ass came from. Rod with his ass pointed at the audience. he was in love with himself even then. But it is forgivable, as him and the Faces where one of the greatest live shows ever. Keith and ronnie fit together so well. no wonder the stones grabbed him up.
I've always thought that Rod Stewart, Jeff Beck, Ron Wood, and Kieth Richards have blood in common. 😕 Like they were making that version of a guy for like 5 years in the 1940's.
Keef is only 78 here he looks pretty good!
It's all the shepherds pie mate

Rod Stewart with the 'twin guitars' from Rolling Stones (Keith Richards e Ron Wood)... It just can be a big party jam!

Yeah he did. And Rod was incredibly gracious in making it happen.
Amen
It was really a no brainer
Rod went gay. So no more Faces. Not that they wrote many good songs together. Rods solo albums were better.
@@tomslick2058the faces albums were outstanding 👍
As they say it doesn't get any better than that
Rod never fails to provide great singing and bravado as lead singer!
And helped put the Stones back together.
Onya Rod.
And ass. He had a lot of ass.
Tetsu Yamauchi makes me happy!
Rod simply at his best! God bless Chuck Berry!
Shame he was such a carnt lol.

Love Keith's smile after making those badass sounds during his solo.
🤩 what a fantastic music.. ways better than todays music.. 👍👍👍
Rod Stewart has a fantastic voice.
Rod is a great rock n roll singer, and he's unique. No one else like him.

I love Keith’s and Ronnie’s album
Oh yeah, he knew it - That's the only reason he made the appearance - it had all been planned way before as part of the integration process
Like Keith wouldn’t know who was going to be playing guitar in his band! 🤣😂🤣
Love Ronnie, but Mick Taylor was the best.

Yeah, not that it was Ronnie's fault, but I think the Mick Taylor Years were the best the Stones ever had.
Keith ‘out Berrying ‘ Chuck Berry. Fan since 1967 awesome. Cheers from Montreal
La mejor versión que le hicieron a este tema de Chuck.

Woody spent the preceding five years sucking up to the Glimmer Twins.

Watched the night it was on in 75. Ronnie was playing on tour with the Stones just a few months after this. Faces f-ing rocked hard
Damn, what a performance! Maybe the best cover of a Chuck Berry tune I’ve ever heard.

Faces final concert,at Kilburn Empire..How this clip of the concert ended up on midnight special is beyond me
Hey thanks for clarifying, I was looking at the set and backdrop and thinking I don't remember this on TMS
Wow, rock and roll defined!
Great tune
Fantastic singer

Wow, the pianist !,,,,,
Ian McLagan of the Small Faces & Faces

There was some skating on mirrors backstage that night !!

Great performance, just wish they'd managed to capture the bass a little better, it is barely audible. Mais c'est la vie.
Rod is looking for the ROD!
This showed keef and Ronnie worked good together. Trading leads to.
Keef makes it look easy to be cool.
They should have also invited Chuck Berrry on this one!
They knew way before this on the credits of its only rocknroll the album it says inspiration Ronnie Wood they knew already Jerry from Mexico cheers

And this was how Freddie Mercury danced
They couldn't afford to pay rod Stewart enough to be on the midnight special so they just showed a film clip of him somewhere else. 😁

why kenney jones’ drum kit is blocked out???
You put the word "is" in the wrong place. 😅
They sound like they might play in a band
anyone know what guitar keith was playing?
Looks like a Les Paul Jr. I think Leslie West also used that guitar.
Is that Nicky Hopkins on piano?
Ian McLagan.....original member of The Faces,....and Small Faces.
Who then went on to play piano for the Stones until his Translation to the Big Gig in the Sky....
Why would I even want to play guitar without first knowing how to play any Chuck Berry ??
Who is the bass player?
His name is Tetsu Yamauchi. Ronnie Lane left the group in 1973, then Tetsu joined them, and played with Rod & The Faces for a few years after that.
Tetsu played with Free for a while as well. Some good credentials there.
山内テツさん😮

he wore it because of R&R
Why he turned his back to the crowd so much? Interesting 🤔
