Porsche could easily take bits from your video and use it as a commercial. The quality of your production is excellent! And yes, the car is EPIC ! 😄 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Just returned from a 2000 mile round trip to France in our Taycan 4s. Two adults and three teenagers and a load of luggage; the car did not miss a beat. No issues with charging - in fact the opposite. French charging infrastructure is better than what I am used to in the UK, but always allow for the unexpected. We'd look for a fast charger as soon as we hit 50 mile range. Great video, really enjoyed watching. :)
@@JamesKingstonCars Very impressive and worked through video! Inspiring! I have a 2021 Porsche TC 4s, red like yours. I use to drive it through Europe to my summer house in Perpignan at the Mediterranean. As a birdwatcher I have two times tried to find the european endemic bird Rock Partridge in the swiss alps on the road down to France without succeeding. But your video inspired me to try again next summer!! I always sleep in the car, mattress and sleeping bag works fine. I can park in the areas where this rear, nearly threatened, bird is to be found, and be early up in the morning in the right place. Absolutely no charging issues. 350 kw Ionity that always works everywhere. I have equipped it intentionally as a GT-Wagon. Cooled massage seats. 19" tyres, no roof rails, aerodynamic rims, 4w steering. Battery heat planner on, less than 20 min from 10 - 80 %, just time for a rest. Driving in range mode only activating rear motor gives surprisingly low consumption even at high speeds on the autobahn, partly due to the 2nd gear.
Mate you seriously need to make more car videos! I have to say, this was an absolute delight to watch! As many others have mentioned before me; you should have a million subs when pumping out such quality content. Happy New Years!
Absolutely delightful video. Great job James in taking us there and immersing us in the fantastic road and the phenomenal Taycan GTS. Thank you; thank you.
Utterly stunning and incredible video. I’m going around Switzerland & northern Italy with a few mates next June and have all these mountain passes in our list. Your video has made my day. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I love road trips videos! Edit: Just finished watching this Video, Man-o-man, The video was worth watching! I Just love what your friend did with shots!
I've done the UK to Switzerland twice in the last 6 months. Your charging experience is totally different from mine. I had a seamless experience in France and Switzerland using primarily IONITY chargers. IONITY together with the Porsche charge card (around half-price electricity) meant very quick charging and low cost. Your range of 280 miles - well I've never seen anything like that; 200-220 miles is my range in my CrossT-4.....would love to know how to get above 250 miles?
Some other Taycan owners have said similar things to you about charging so that's good to hear! I must have just been unlucky with the broken chargers on my trip. I have no idea how I did so well on range haha! I could be a little off with my average but nearly every full charge I did showed an indicated 460km and it seemed fairly accurate when driving gently. I drove less than the speed limit for the motorway parts of the trip so that will have helped and maybe the weather had some impact. Great car!
Likewise - max I've achieved in my CT4S is 225ish. I'd be even happier with the car if I was getting 250-280 regularly. Will see if it improves in the summer months
I love your stuff on your main channel, for a moment i thought you got caught because you didn't upload in 8 months. good to hear that you didn't get caught
Did the exact same drive in the summer in the 4s. Seems I was lucky with no issues at all charging with ionity. Bit of a novelty getting charged on the way down with the regen.
That's good to hear! Maybe I just got unlucky with it on this trip. Haha yeah, the regen on the way down the mountains was pretty crazy! Felt like I could go forever at some points 😂
I have a Taycan Sport Turismo and am reinvigorated by your video! Car magazine this month says it is number 1 of all 87 EVs available (and that includes the RR Spectre)! We don't have these roads in the UK. We have scenic roads and we have fast roads but very rarely the two in the same stretch. Your drone pilot is amazing indeed.
Haha, thank you! That's good to hear :) and the Taycan getting number 1 doesn't surprise me at all. It's so good! Haha yeah, I'm near the New Forest so I can't complain but it still doesn't touch Switzerland!
Mine was delivered this week. Dont let the crap about charging put you off. Charge up fully at home, drive it fast, then rely on top-ups if required. Easy.
Congrats! Yeah, I've had a very decent experience with EV's in the UK, just not super great on this trip. Charging at home is key and the Taycan really is a mega thing. Merry Christmas!
Awesome video and very great trip. Also this Porsche must be a lot of fun. I also did this trip this summer, Grimsel Pass, Furka Pass, Oberalppass, and also the Susten Pass (Susten Pass is also near the 3 other places.) But I did it with a small Mitsubish car, but it was anyway fun.
What a nice mix of an awesome car, stunning views and great editing! I've driven the Grimsel pass before. Looking to go back to the alps this summer in my BMW. Love from Sweden 🇸🇪
What an absolutely fantastic video. I came over from your other channel to give it a look. I am not a car person at all but loved this video. How on earth have you only got 2.8k subs. Honestly mate, this is better than top gear. Keep it up, this should blow up.
Thank you!! I just haven't been able to get hold of any new cars unfortunately. They seem to be too busy sending them to bloody TikTokers so I might have to start making some shorts & start posting them there too 🤣😫
Epic James. You defo shot something special there with Daniel…..Watched the climb obviously. Get the turbo s from Rob at Porsche next…. As a petrol head and an EV owner of 6 years now, I have never charged on the public network in that time. Just needs some organisation and of course a home charger. If you need to do more than 250 miles a day (I never do) then don’t even bother with an EV. If you are sub 250 a day and have a home charger there is nothing better.
Thanks, Jason! I'd love to but Rob has left Porsche so I'm stuck trying to make contact with whoever has replaced him. I agree! I drive a maximum of 30-50 miles a day on average and I'd happily run a small EV just for that. Can't really complain when it'll cost pennies to charge overnight. A bigger petrol engine would be for nothing but pleasure!
The first 5 min sums up why I won’t by a full e car. Always go to the Alps for few ski trips (NL-AT) and would be furious if that happens to me. And 24:30 didn’t help also. Infra is so important.

Totally agree about the Taycan. £120k cars have dropped but not to £60k. I am looking for a used one and cars less than £60k are mainly saloons without the options you want. I am expecting Taycans to drop to £45k for a 2020, 4 year old 4S in March 2024. New registration plate will cause 2020 cars to be nearly 4 years old which is 1 year beyond the Porsche warranty and half way through the battery warranty. At the moment many sub £60k Taycans have 79 kwh (71 usable) batteries so 13kwh less than the 93 kwh (84 kwh usable). or high miles.
Maybe not as there have been reports of cabin heater failures and battery chargers so cars out of warranty could cost £ thousands to fix. @@JamesKingstonCars
We’re looking for one, but we’re really hesitant on the range. How far did you get on average on one charge? And how often/ long were you charging on average?
Hey, I went over this in the summary at the end of the video but I averaged around 280 miles of range per full charge and that was at mostly motorway speeds so not the most efficient of driving! The fast chargers can get you to 80% in around 20 minutes so they were great (when they were working!). While I was in Switzerland I was just plugging it in at the hotel charger over night and didn't even come close to running out during the days driving up in the mountains :) I hope that helps!

Loads of room for me and my family (two children) but a car that drives like a proper sports car. Good colour choice! Ah, interesting, I guess that makes the GTS an even better choice! 198 does seem very low and from what I've seen, the colder weather can take at least 30% off your total range which is insane!
Also took delivery of a 992 Carrera 4,brilliant wee car though not for every day driving, hopefully this GTS doesn’t depreciate as much as my Turbo, lost £70K over 40 months.
