That car is awesome! I would put a Demon scoop in between those other vents on that Saleen. I don’t think 70 is a bad price either. 60 probably takes it. That color has to look insane in person. Great channel brother! Seriously i look forward to everything you do. How much longer are they going to be able to contain NYers to stay home in Spring and Summer? Not much longer I’m guessing. was this car stroked out to a 6.7 hemi? Ive heard about theis from Marspeeds channel, he did say that this was based off a supercharged 5.7 hemi only, they used R/T and SRT8 models but they never used the 6.1 since the power was already there, i know saleen would take the second lowest trim level and slightly modifiy it like they did mustangs, i know with the 99-04 mustang GT, saleen would buy mustangs from the dealer and take them and modify them, i know they added a supercharger on the same 2 valve 4.6 liter engine without useing the 4 valve 4.6 cobra engine. im positive that is a supercharged 5.7.
I own a '19 Challenger RT Scat Pack 392 WB and I like it a lot, but during the video, I kept eyeballing the '69 Chevelle behind the Demon and the '70 Chevelle on the upper shelf. Those were my two favorite years for Chevelles. If there was a new one made today that followed the old-school design like the Challengers have, I'd buy a new Chevelle. Or would I ? Well, maybe it is fortunate that I don't have to choose. I have my Challenger so I'm happy.

@@RTLife me too, my dad is a Saleem fan, and when I saw these when they first came out I was drooling over them. The X is still a worthy badass even after all these years, and the side intakes are just awesome.
The SMS customs were built to fill a niche market of people that wanted a lot more horsepower that simply wasn't otherwise available at the time. For me, paying $12000 to $18000 just for the custom paint makes no sense, but then again, I'm not rich. However, as nice an the SMS setup is, one has to admit that their value has really dropped since any off-the-shelf stock Hellcat will meet or beat them for less money and come with a warranty too. SMS Challengers had their day. The only reason to own one now is if you're a car collector and care about that specific piece of car history. Most people, I think, would pass on a SMS car just because of the price and because they could get a new Redeye or something, but I'm sure that the right buyer is out there.
Yeah the paint jobs were really expensive. I do think these saleen cars held their value pretty good considering I’ve seen some of them being sold for 50-60k still while msrp was 90-110k. Many of these cars have extremely low miles though so collectors will just hold them until the right buyer shows
The 570 was a 5.7 saleen and over priced. I was thinking about getting that side butterfly hood for my challenger, but read a review that stated the gas pedal was off
Thats a sms challenger made for 5.7 and 6.1 the 5.7 made 570 hp and 6.1 made at list 700hp plus yes it test on the track and 5.7 only did 12-9 1/4 mile i know its suck and did not make it to the market because it was to expensive compare to the hellcats they are planning for the future in that year also ford did not want the challenger call saleen because ford already name it so now it called sms instead
This is incorrect. Both 570 and 570x were bored out 5.7L Hemi's. Steve Saleen, owner of SMS (his initials) would get 5.7 R/T's directly from Chrysler and then tear them down and rebuild them into the 570 or 570x. They had their own custom palette of colors to repaint the car, their own body kit for the car along with their own SC (which was a rebadged Kenny Bell). There were plenty of customer complaints with these cars. Paint issues, fit and finish issues, spongy gas pedal from the butterfly hood and the quality of the interior stitching. The 570x wasn't much quicker than the factory SRT8 and it was about 25k more expensive.
some of the designs on the 570x are ugly like the 3 triangle grill inserts and the tail lights do not look good. but the functional hood intakes are badass

Chevy and Ford were already dominating the series so MoPar stepped up and built the AAR Cuda for 1970 and the Dodge Challenger T/A also for 1970. It was an epic move in my mind because those are the best cars they made.
@@RTLife The title & 10min run time gives the impression that the vid is solely about the SMS 570X. it's over 5mins before we get a glimpse & you're onto other vehicles shortly after.
Saleen is trash, always have been. They never run what they say they're supposed to do and they make some of the ugliest body kits around. I lol'd when the guy working at the shop said it should be able to keep up with todays hellcats hesitantly. Yeah, and thats why no one is buying that p.o.s even though its ultra rare, and has a lot of hp.
570x are 300-400 pounds lighter than the hellcat and the saleen 570xSmS challengers make 700hp 700tq. Doubt the hellcats would be able to win that race
Also you have to keep in mind that saleen only needed to use 4.5psi of boost on their 3.0 liter supercharger whereas the hellcat needs 11.5psi to make 700hp. I would like to see the race as well.

The Cuda and Challenger was built to compete with the Mustangs and Cameros in a racing series called Trans Am racing. The 1970 Cuda was a complete new design from the year before. The 1969 Plymouth Barracuda was not the imagine MoPar needed to compete with the Trans Am race cars. Chevy and Ford were already dominating the series so MoPar stepped up and built the AAR Cuda for 1970 and the Dodge Challenger T/A also for 1970. It was an epic move in my mind because those are the best cars they made.

Nice!
Seriously false title...
How so?
@@RTLife The title & 10min run time gives the impression that the vid is solely about the SMS 570X. it's over 5mins before we get a glimpse & you're onto other vehicles shortly after.
well that's not a "false title" - it's just a bad video based on your expectations.
@@RTLife it is false as the 570X is featured in passing like the 'Cuda, Demon & Pantera. "Walk around Car Place" would be accurate title
I like my title better. But, I appreciate the suggestion & views on the video. Thanks man
😶💔
thank you
Saleen is trash, always have been.
@@crusader7091 I would love to see that race. I still think both hellcats would win.
Also you have to keep in mind that saleen only needed to use 4.5psi of boost on their 3.0 liter supercharger whereas the hellcat needs 11.5psi to make 700hp. I would like to see the race as well.

How do you work on a hard top mid engine vehicle like the De tomaso?
I’d call that color Gumdrop Green. Cuz that color just makes me think of a candy
What does the 570 mean?
570= 5.7L Hemi makes 500-510hp 570x= 6.4 to 6.7L supercharged with 700-720hp
