I know everyone bangs on about how good Chris Stapleton is and I agree but I feel the woman on the violin/fiddle is what makes this band what it is, she is incredible

The Steeldrivers had such an amazing sound. As much as i like old bluegrass, its very hard to top this.
Un-freaking believable!! I hope that one day, our jamboree will have the budget to have these 5 fine musicians attend The Hollyrood jamboree in Bellville Ontario. Look us up, thumbs up if you think we're destined for such talent.
I'm just blown away with these people, As a songwriter , Chris is to me, the best but they sound so very damn good as a band together and alway's will.

Lot of bands out there only wish they could sound this good even if they're not all suffering with the flu. Chris reminds me of Gregg Allman with all that power in his voice. I know he does an awesome job on Gregg's "Whipping Post"

Love the storm of it all; my grass is blue & I grew up near Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Hall in Englishtown, NJ, yodeling, howling and praising the spirits took me away! Like a railroad spike into my being they play... oh man, the muddy waters, the war torn side of Battleview Orchards, how the men who made us sovereign came in outgunned with torn shoes and bloody feet, they had to run and gun, all the way from the Gap to where Molly Pitcher's Well still stands, mostly unknown under the tressle where I took many a young lover's heart and innocence, yes, I feel the spirit rile inside... the storms we are, on freedom's ride, nothing we need is supposed to come easy, everything they sing, brings me closer to that peace, the rainy dark forest where I am just a soul in the being. Hoo-yah!!! Uh... cat got on the keys... uh. ~RaVen~

@@ouatedephoque2961 If you seriously don't know who Chris Stapleton is, you need to go down that rabbit hole immediately. He is an absolutely phenomenal singer/songwriter. The fiddle player here is Tammy Rogers A great talent & a founding member of the Steeldrivers. Mike Henderson is playing mandolin. He & Chris have written quite a few songs together. The wonderful Richard Baily is on banjo. He's featured in the book, "Masters of the 5-string Banjo." Talented Mike Fleming is on the upright bass.

Such a great band and strange to say (as you would expect) but they sound identical live as they do on their album.
That's a good thing. What you hear is what you get.....not autotune for these guys.

The first live version of "Midnight Train to Memphis" was performed at the Joe Val Bluegrass Festival on this date. How many live shows the Steeldrivers had performed to this point, I can't say but not many, if any at all. And this was the stage configuration they used, here and at Grey Fox in July. Lots of ppl don't get why they use one mic lol..the one mic is all they want, their sound comes from the dynamics and how they work the one mic, it helps them hear each other better and being close gives you a better feel of what you're doing..
@@jarrodsellers1814 agreed. I think it wouldn’t sound the same with more mics. The one mic is more natural
