    I was a Rage believer for years, but the knockoffs are so affordable that I can shoot without worry of damaging the head. I shot a mature 9-point and he dies seven yards from the impact. I have killed deer, pigs up to 250 lbs and raccoons too. The knockoffs open huge holes and kill very quickly. They will bend inside the animal sometimes, or the blades will suffer some damage. I use them and if they get dinged they are retired and a new head goes onto the arrow. After five deer and four pigs, I'm a believer in these economical but devastating heads!

    My brother and I both hunted with the knock offs for the past few seasons and for the price you can’t beat them they fly straight as a field point and they leave a devastating entrance and exit hole and they did not break after passing through a deer.

    Quality of the metal could be a huge factor. Or a minor one. Subject to test. Not all aspects of construction, strength, durability were addressed here. But on its face the 8-to-1 price difference is pretty convincing. If the cheaper broadheads work at all well in actual use then they're a good deal, plain and simple.

      @Windwalker_Outdoors  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JamesG I guess you could say I field tested them. The small doe had a pass thru no damage to head or blades. The arrow was not recovered on the buck. No exit wound, but did the job with a bad hit. Deer traveled about 200yds. I jumped it up. Otherwise it would have traveled maybe 100yds. Here is the video. th-cam.com/video/Ptk_lcKrKFM/w-d-xo.html

    There’s a lot of wobble in the Chinese rage heads with the collars they provide in the bag. You can go to fleet and pick up a real
    Deal rage o ring pack for like 10 bucks and get all your China rage heads to spin like glass. Add it up man it’s a steal compared to 45$ for 3 branded rage heads. Get a stay sharp jig and sharpen them to perfection. It’s the whitetail broadhead loophole. Broadhead prices are ridiculous, what do they expect.

    I shot a doe yesterday with a 2 blade 100 grain 2.3" Rage copy from "Shootsoso's" store. The shot was 35 yards and complete pass through. Blades deployed perfectly and still had enough energy to get through thick weeds and in the dirt about 10' behind where the deer was standing. Entrance and exit wounds were just as good as actual Rage. Very satisfied.

    I lost my very first deer i ever shot at with a bow yesterday and i hit it a little high but the thing should have at least went in and caused a tone of bleeding so it might go bed down and I could blood track it but it ran 300 yards to my buddy and kept going and my buddy said my arrow was just flopping out and im shooting 60 lbs and the doe was 15 yards from me which explains why i shot a little high and i want to mention that it wasn't a level shot I was probably 15ft above the deer and it was probably 10 yards from the tree. if i hit a bone im sure it would have made it a little further and if the broadheads was worth while the broad head would have cut the insides up enough that it would have to stop with in 300 yards but nope . my buddy and I both got down from our stands and didnt find anyblood what so ever .

    I have been shooting those chinese rage knock offs for a while now and every deer I hit with them dies. Sometimes the head loses material from the blades or they won't take and edge again but when brand new and touched up they knock deer dead. I have had some heads pass through and come out fine while most aren't usable a second time but for $1.50 each who cares?

  • @douglasborgaro6801
    @douglasborgaro6801 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the basic design of the Rage, 2 blade is one of the greatest. Are the blades the same thickness? What are the ferules made of? The name brand should be higher grade stainless. The knockoff May be aluminum. These details in themselves do make a difference in cost and quality. Some Hunters may have had fails with the Rage or many other types of broadheads. We all have high expectations of this piece of equipment. I may not be inclined to use a broadhead that failed on me even once, but the design by and large has been successful overall. I have looked to the NAP Killzone as and improved version of the Rage, particularly with its better spring clip retention system.
    Still, as long as the retention system of the Rage works, it is a great broadhead.

  • @garethh6962

    Are the blades looser on the knockoffs they normally are, I use judo head knockoffs they work fine for small game..

  • @venichord1744
    @venichord1744 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    What I was actually looking for is where to position the rubber/soft plastic collar. Does it go with the slots inline with the blades so they can freely operate with the head screwed on all the way or do you turn the bands slightly so they're safely locked in place but need to destroy the band to open? It comes with extra bands so I'm guessing the second, but it would seem a lot of energy would be lost opening the head. So that's my conundrum any help would be appreciated and go ahead and laugh if its a total noob question but this is my first time buying them and cant decide which way they go.

    • @venichord1744
      @venichord1744 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok if anyone else has this question the answer according to Rage is to NOT have the blade inline with a slit. The band/ shock collar is designed to break with each shot.

    • @Windwalker_Outdoors
      @Windwalker_Outdoors  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the blades will break or bend the little flaps. You should be able to get a few shots if it doesn't break completely. You really shouldn't shoot them until shooting at game. I guess the bright side is, if they break, it's means you just got a shot at game.

    I have been using the knock-offs for years with no problem, and they are 1/10th of the cost. I was just looking at them, you either get 3 for $40 (Rage) or 12 for $20 (Knock-Off). I use the knock off lighted nocks too, I actually think they work better because the switch mechanism is of a simpler design.

    The only problem I have had with the knockoffs is that the chisel tip type lose the tip inside the deer. I'm not sure if the high dollar ones have this problem, but for what I paid for them, I can afford to ruin a broad head on every kill.

  • @NewArcheryProducts
    @NewArcheryProducts 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Just remember, when you purchase a knockoff, you totally screw the companies and employees who thought up the product, designed it, tested it, changed it, tested it again, lost sleep over it, worked overtime for it, marketed it, and ultimately paid for it so you can go ahead and save 8 bucks. BTW- how much money is sitting on that back wall? Lots. How much did you spend on your last hunting bow and arrows? A bunch I would guess. Add up all the hard earned dollars you spent on ALL of your hunting equipment. You seem to be like a lot of us- we love hunting- but you're willing to purchase knock offs to save a few dollars? Come on. BTW- 8 percent of every broadhead package is FET. Federal excise tax levied on broadheads goes to preserving wildlife habitat and restoration, public hunting lands, archery and gun ranges. By going the cheap ass knock off way, you collectively screw all outdoorsman and hunters..

    • @NewArcheryProducts

      The American company who rightfully owns the patents, design, and copy rights to the head that THEY designed. If they decide to source it overseas and sell it THEMSELVES in the US, that's fine. But by going around them and purchasing a knockoff of their hard work for save a few dollars.... that's the problem.

    • @Windwalker_Outdoors
      @Windwalker_Outdoors  8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      If it bothers you, then go ahead and spend $180 for a dozen Rage heads. I will sleep OK spending only $22 for the same heads.

      Actually, those few extra grains will gain you Ke.

    • @NewArcheryProducts
      @NewArcheryProducts 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is a big difference between purchasing a China sourced head designed and built by a US company and knowingly purchasing a ripoff of a patented, trademarked product. That US company employs PEOPLE. People that (like you), need to provide for their families. You take that income away so you can save a buck. Think about it. Again buying a ripoff product is NOT THE SAME as purchasing a China sourced product from a US company.

    I shoot real rage hypodermics and have tried the ebay ones they are not the same i have done a ton of testing and probably shot about 60 knock offs. The set i had to compare the wieght varies more than the real ones some times down as low as 87 grains.how much force it takes to open the blades vary on the knock offs too.i have had a couple open on releasing the bow and flew way off and i have had others go completely through a block target and never open or open just one side. I have hit the plywood base in the bottom of my target and bend the tip over on the knock off as well so you know it will do the same on impact with bone. The material is also different i have shot them both on a rainy day about 6 months ago and the real rage has no rust but the knock off started showing rust in 2 days. Im not pro or against buying chinese stuff but theres a big difference here i use these for coyotes where i dont care if they open or not or break inside but for deer i use the real deal.

    • @Windwalker_Outdoors
      @Windwalker_Outdoors  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Barletta You know what? I apologize! I read your first sentence and kinda got on the defensive. I read mixed reviews before I got them to try myself. There probably are some differences in materials. The head is shinier. As with most cheap things from China, they must cut a few corners. I found the blades to be just as sharp. That surprised me. I felt they would be just as good as the True Rage heads. I did get a complete pass thru on a doe with no damage. I like them, especially the price. I'm sure there are several places making these heads in China and possibly the ones you got were made differently, as you said. Good luck to you in the upcoming season.!

    Every one knows the Rage broadheads are made in China and assembled and packaged here in the USA. The so called knockoffs are just manufactured by different companies in China then where the Rage is manufactured or at least that is what I have heard. The Quality Control is not up to the Rage broadhead standards but darn close. More than close enough to use and harvest deer with. I have killed at least 15 deer using knockoffs and at least double that with Rage products and they both have worked equally well. Most of the knockoff blades have bent or broken but no more than the Rage which are known for the blade breakage. Shoot some for yourself then your decision to either keep paying way to much for the Rage name or use something with a little more bang for the buck that can get the job done.

    The Chinese have a philosophy, cheat everyone you can. This is no BS. Guaranteed the steel in these knockoff is not as good. Asian steel is notoriously bad. Also, a true test has to include shot testing. You have no idea about flight characteristics, penetration, grouping etc. No way to know how they will perform until you spin test them and shoot them. IF all your shots are 20, you are probably OK. I do agree that the price of broad heads is STUPID for what they are.

      Windwalker's Outdoor Channel actually they’re not, Rage heads are made in the USA 🇺🇸. Lots of people every year lose their jobs because someone uses the same “save money” logic and some new factory in Mexico or China opens manufacturing a product for cheaper. I get saving money but don’t act like it’s a victimless crime.

      @@Ryan.Willis Where are they made in the USA? They are made in China. These dozen heads cost me $22. 12 heads. The original Rage heads would have cost me $180 for 12 heads. Your "Rage", pun intended, should be directed at a company that overcharges it's customers. I got those heads for $22 with free shipping all the freakin way from China. If the real Rage heads are really made in the USA (they're not) then that is one hell of a mark up. Maybe if Rage, did indeed, have their factories here and charged a fair price, that would be a different story. I just k ow I sleep much better knowing I saved $160

      myownspiritlevel It is for reloading ammo. Made by RCBS. The only person I ever met that didn't know where that scale came from, didn't know much about guns or hunting...lol.

      Windwalker's Outdoor Channel Sorry, I’m just in the 21st century. I use a digital scale accurate to tenths of a grain for my reloading. Do you also have an 8-track in your El Camino? Pager on your belt? Just kidding. 😝

      Sorry to hear that....but here's my point Rage has their broadheads made in China anyway. They aren't made here. So whose job am I saving? Also, those same dozen of Rage heads would cost me almost $200. Why should I spend $200 on them when I get damn near the same thing for $22?

    the difference is you buy over seas stuff that cost a american a job. Then they do not have the money to buy more american goods so that cost more jobs. Ask the towns wear Snap-On-Tools moved to china. Not only them jobs were lost but all the stores where they spent there money had to lay off good american's.

    • @Windwalker_Outdoors
      @Windwalker_Outdoors  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The original Rage heads are made in China, not America. There is a really good chance, the same Chinese worker that makes the original heads, also makes the knockoff heads. Think about it. Presses and tooling are already set up to fill orders for Rage. After meeting production quota for Rage, the presses continue to run producing these heads.

    Seems wrong to pay more for americans to put them together an package them but it makes more jobs .I hope Trump taxs them so high that they have move back to america. They have taken are jobs one peace at a time.

    So you support illegal counterfeiting. You encourage people to use a product without any regards to their safety because you use them. You have no care if the product preforms as originally designed and tested as long as it hits the animal and it dies. Truly an Ethical man and hunter. To make an video to justify your actions and hope you can draw others like you to agree is just plain stupid . I hope they follow your advise and when injuries occur sue your happy butt for being such a specialist in the field. You sir are part of the problem with this country and have wasted my time.

      I'm guessing you are unaware that the original Rage heads are also made in China. Probably made in the very same factory. I've hunted with them and they work quite well on game. Many, many others have tested them on Game also, with equal success. It would have cost me nearly $200 to buy 1 dozen original heads but I got the same thing for $22. If you were an avid viewer of my channel, you wouldn't be questioning if they worked. You would know by seeing them work in the videos.

      Thank you for the review on my awareness and intelligence level. I truly love the phrase probably..(shows you have done your homework).. I will agree its hard to argue with a person who has his own internet channel ,after all if its on the internet it has to be true. You are quite correct i am NOT an avid viewer of this channel. I stumbled on it while looking for true integrity videos on counterfeit broadheads. I am however an owner of one of the largest archery complexes in Texas and have personally seen the results of poor quality counterfeits. Thank you for your time and in closing please be aware i will not be wasting anymore of my time reading your junk. So please feel free to bash slam discredit me for the benefit of the viewers that believe what you say and do is ethical in anyway.It makes for great reading.

      I am sure we can agree there are many things manufactured in China that is pure junk. I've seen it, you've seen it. There are also junk broadheads coming from China too. I can agree with that too. I got these broadheads with the hope of making a video to show that they were inferior to original Rage heads. After close examination i determined that was not the case. I too would have been in your corner telling someone they were junk, that is until I had them side by side. There were many Chinese sellers on ebay selling Rage heads. I'm not sure if all chinese knockoff heads were as good as the ones I got or not, but the ones I received were very good. I can certainly understand you not wanting customers to buy products from China because it hits you in the wallet. I'd be willing to bet that if you bought the same heads I did and compared them side by side, you would reach the same conclusion, but I truly doubt you would admit it. Admitting that they were the same quality would steer would be customers away from you. I would also bet, that the same factories in China that make the heads for Rage, made these heads as well. Rage paid for the tooling and machine set up, so after the Rage order is filled, they keep the presses running and sell these. While my explanation may upset you, because China stole the patent and undercut Rage, then your anger must be because you agree with me that these heads are most likely, very similar in quality. Same tooling, same presses, same material , same quality. You can stomp your feet and moan all you want. There are many people with first hand experience with these heads that agree with me. You have people that agree with you. I'm sure you have a quality archery business and know your shit. All I can say is, I like the heads and they have served me well. Your opinion isn't going to change my opinion and vise versa.
