Do the EXACT Same thing with Soda bicarbonate (Baking Powder), cheaper, and easier to find than graphite powder. Without the toxicity of graphite powder:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation. A harmful concentration of airborne particles can be reached quickly when dispersed, especially if powdered. Inhalation of dusts may cause effects on the lungs. This may result in graphite pneumoconiosis.

What is this !!!!! We did not see how the teeth worked, and I think you replaced the piece and did not repair it
I really appreciate videos that repair things WITHOUT using giant shop tools that 98% of people don't have access to. This is great!
this video is pure genius
I love that people all over the world can share ideas like this. Even if the gear isn't strong, we could use this to fabricate self-lubricating bearings etc.
Except you can't store it in a car. Heat causes cyanoacrylate to break down.
@@ianbelletti6241 I don't know about the mixture with graphite. But mixing CA with sodium bicarbonate there's an actual chemical reaction creating a lot of heat and after this there's a new compound with much higher temperature resistance (supposedly like 1000° C) and strength. Of course this wouldn't work directly with the wax as ti would melt fast, so we'd need a somewhat different process for casting.
@@elmariachi5133 this works good for a temporary repair. Maybe you could use this as a base to create a mold so that you could make a more permanent replacement part.
@@ianbelletti6241 Could have substituted epoxy and had a permanent replacement part
@@ianbelletti6241heat causes cured CA to break down?
Simplemente genial, amigo lo felicito.
That's really cool. It works with baking soda for wood repairs also.
It works with gunpowder on fireguards also.
Thank you for including closed captions in so many languages. I don't think I would be able to understand what you're saying without them. ;)
Guauu... increíble 💎💎 muchas felicitaciones 🎉💎
Woowww, eso sí es inteligencia. Excelente trabajo🙌🏼👊🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Lo guardaré
Excelente!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🇧🇷
Very clever ! I was wondering how you'd get the form of the gear teeth and you used "The lost wax process " Bravo !
I have done a similar fix decades ago, first off ,find the broken piece, usually laying in the bottom of the item, epoxy it to the gear, then i used thin metal rod, heated with soldering iron to melt, stitch, reinforce ,across the break lines. this outlasted the printer. It does look crap, but works perfect. Your wax trick was great if you cant find the broken off gear part though.
One of the easiest method to repair broken plastic gear. Thanks 🤩 🙏
👍
Simples porque é genial, genial porque é simples.

Obrigado pelas suas palavras gentis !!
The best thing I have ever found for mixing with superglue is raw sienna pigment powder (burnt sienna works too). I bought a big bag to mix my own paints but did not get around to it, but I discovered the mixture of very fine iron rich clay and superglue makes a very solid substance. I add a little sawdust for larger lumps.
Science:
'Like the other earth colors, such as yellow ochre and umber, sienna is a clay which is partially composed of iron oxides. In the case of sienna, the most prevalent iron oxides are limonite (which in its natural state has a yellowish color), and goethite. In addition to iron oxides, natural or raw sienna is also composed of manganese oxide, which makes it darker than ochre. Aluminum oxides have also been found in the soil at very low levels.[5] When heated, the limonite and goethite is dehydrated and turns partially to hematite, which gives it a reddish-brown color.[6] Sienna is lighter in shade than raw umber, which is also clay with iron oxide, but which has a significantly higher content of manganese (5 to 20 percent) making it greenish brown or dark brown in color. When heated, raw umber becomes burnt umber, a very dark brown.[7]'
Very good info.. thanks for posting !
Great info
Sienna pigment = Ferric oxide, kool I know what that is, thanks for sharing.
Brilliant, especially how you transferred teeth detail to the damaged area. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Now that is a brilliant idea! Thanks!
Incrível😮❤
Muy bueno. Gracias x compartir cosas útiles. 😊
Aces! ¡Gran trabajo!
Impresionante!!
Brilliant i never would have considered trying graphite powder, good to know
Now that!... was worth watching.
Felicitaciones*
The glue will not stick to those types of plastics used in plastic gears. So the metal piece added into the main part of the gear is crucial. The glue will stick to that holding the repair in place.
The combination of superglue and any material in powder form :) I am using such repairs for over 20 years.
Smart repair thanks for the tip!
wow brilliant , well done .
Love how you created a form for the teeth from some of the good teeth, very clever!
Excellent work 👍, thanks for showing us
Brilliant! I have to try this!
You are Awesome!!! that is some killer work there thank you
I have used superglue with either bicarb or graphite depending on the desired colour to repair electronics cases. However graphite seems to inhibit superglue from setting. It does eventually set but takes a very long time. So I am interested if you found that to be so as well, or if a particular graphite is better or if you use an additive to assist. I guess you chose graphite for it's lubrication quality. I would not have though to do this with nylon gears as there are not many compatible adhesives & none that bond strongly. PU is one of the better ones for nylon, but not strong compared to bonding other materials. I guess that is why you add the wire. Anyway, it's great that you found a way to get it working again. As it happens, I have a burst nylon gear on a vintage turntable, you may have just inspired me to try repairing it, so thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching and your great comment !
Try a mixture of graphite with baking soda, instead of just graphite
Very clever. Great idea. Useful too.
Great job! Great idea thx's a lot ! You made my day 😊
Excelente, muy pilo!
Espectacular!

Gracias a ti
Que maestro!!! Se ha ganado un suscriptor.
The super smart idea!
- SUPER Sache 👍👍👍
By some twist of fate I am working on a project with resin and graphite parts. This gives me some confidence that graphite will improve the strength. Cool
Very cool outside-the-box thinking repair!!! 👍🏻🇺🇲

Genius! Thanks!
Very cool. May be easier than 3D printing.
Smart idea👍
Muito bom.
Fantastic!
Making that mold out of candle wax was genius. Fact is I have e everything here at home right now to do this - except the broken gear (ha, ha)
Wow, that was great 🥳💪🏻
Bravissimo 😮
Love it!
surprisingly entertaining, it's like a magic trick :)
einfach genial !!!

Je ne peux que dire BRAVO!
Outstanding video! A lot of work but worth it in the end. Great job! 👍
Probably won't work for a leopard tank.
Reparing things is the best, the feeling when something works again. Priceless
Exactly ! I feel the same ! Thanks for watching !
Superb ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Meanwhile ebay has that gear for 3 dollars. 😀 Great video. Shows you can fix anything yourself if you want to save time and money.
Yes, this could be applied to so many different situations besides just a plastic gear.
😉👍🏻
Fantástico, felicidades y saludos desde Córdoba, Argentina.
Gracias, Saludos desde Uruguay !
Excelente video. Bien planificado y grabado.
Saludos !
Legit impressed
Brilliant !!!!!
🎉❤😊thanks yr Supper. repairs. teaching. 👏🙌👋👌👍🍄🌷🌹
Yeah. I've done something like this with Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate), but not graphite.
Exlent.
Very clever. Good skills. Thanks.
