Every animal is on an extraordinary journey through life with one goal: To produce the next generation. This is life's great story. They set out to build a group, a family, a troop, one that will rule and in turn provide for their offspring not just survival but dominance of the land. We meet them at a pivotal stage in their lives and follow their fate as they strive to fulfil their biological destiny. It may be from the moment they are born, from the moment they are forced out of their family or from the moment they make a play to become a leader. But all will create a dynasty.
Welcome to BBC EARTH! The world is an amazing place full of stories, beauty and natural wonder. Here you'll find 50 years worth of entertaining and thought-provoking natural history content. Dramatic, rare, and exclusive, nature doesn't get more exciting than this.

My favorite book as a child was called 'SOLO', written by Jane Goodall's husband in the 60's/70's, and it revolved around the true documentation of an African Wild dog puppy trying to survive with a single Mom who was driven from their pack. Zimbabwe is truly one of the Earth's greatest wildlife capitals. I ask anyone coming to Africa to visit our beautiful country and observe our stunning wildlife in our major national parks across the country. Whether it be Mana Pools, Victoria Falls, Hwange or Matusadona and Bumi Hills. Also please donate to our wildlife organizations such as Bumi Hills Anti Poaching Unit and others. Black Tip is so fortunate & extremely lucky to have Tate as her mom. Tate is the most memorable, legendary Matriarch of all times. Everything BT knows was taught by her mom Tate. So her skills, intelligence, knowledge, endurance are so over the top. Tate is the only APD matriarch to have a bloodline of over 280 APD in history. Just AMAZING!!!!!

This episode was (and still is) my favorite episode of “Dynasties”. The tragedy of the painted wolves of Mana Pools was the most realistic one. I cross-referenced multiple safari blogs and the events in the episode are chronologically accurate and have very little extra drama.

This story also opened my eyes to painted wolves. Before I saw “Dynasties”, I thought little of these animals and just called them “African wild dogs”. But when I saw this, I became engaged and my eyes were opened to the wonderful Lycaon pictus. Painted wolves are one highly endangered species that needs our help. This documentary did them a favor by referring to them as “painted wolves”. The name “wild dog” has several negative connotations and also refers to the dangerous feral dogs that transmit diseases and attack people. Painted wolves are a completely different animal. They’ve never been documented attacking a person in the wild and they can’t be domesticated. Referring to them as “painted wolves” also affects their public image in a positive way. Due to this one episode of a documentary, more and more people have began to appreciate painted wolves.
