    Every animal is on an extraordinary journey through life with one goal: To produce the next generation. This is life's great story. They set out to build a group, a family, a troop, one that will rule and in turn provide for their offspring not just survival but dominance of the land. We meet them at a pivotal stage in their lives and follow their fate as they strive to fulfil their biological destiny. It may be from the moment they are born, from the moment they are forced out of their family or from the moment they make a play to become a leader. But all will create a dynasty.
    Welcome to BBC EARTH! The world is an amazing place full of stories, beauty and natural wonder. Here you'll find 50 years worth of entertaining and thought-provoking natural history content. Dramatic, rare, and exclusive, nature doesn't get more exciting than this.

  • @soscobra
    @soscobra 2 ปีที่แล้ว +257

    Something to keep in mind. Wild dogs and Hyenas in Africa start eating their prey alive. If you notice, Red was desperately trying to minimize how long he kept his butt up in the air. This is because the hyenas would bite off his balls and/or tail. Same reason he kept his tail down the whole time. If you've watched any cat videos they tend to swing their tails when thinking, but he had his tail completely down because he was mortally terrified and had no time to think

    David Attenborough meets his match in hyenas' laughter and dramatic music. I couldn't catch his commentary over the commotion. 🤷🏻

      Yes, the newer BBC docs have David's voice about 20 times too low compared to the rest of the sound. BBC, turn David's voice up please!!

    It just a fascinating thing to see how the mercy is embedded in the most ferocious animal like lion.

      Where was there mercy?

    • @astick5249
      @astick5249 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lions have about as much mercy as pretty much everything else. This meaning that its not very often at all. A male lion will kill all cubs that are not made by him once they have taken over a pride .

      The most ferocious animals are humans.

    • @susand9296
      @susand9296 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. The mercy was that the two lions could have attacked and killed at least one hynea. They chose not to, because they are animals, and therefore better than humans.

    Follow lions long enough and you realize how strongly bonded male lions become. Almost constantly having to battle, they form bonds that unshakeable.

    Horrible sound balance and incomplete subtitles mean you can't make out a lot of the narration. I expect more from BBC Earth.
