This recorded version to me, sounds more intimist with scans of affectionate feelings towards someone in particular at times actually. What I mean is, the first recorded one, feels to me a lot more like a romantic universal complaint offered to the world, with expressions of desperate love & wishes. With parts of melancholia & more intensity. But don't get me wrong. The technique here is also awesom &, that's what is so intereresting to me with music. You can always interpret a same melody differently, or even a piece by changing the melody to some extents. & giving a slighter of drastic change of feelings to it. I like both of them interpretations. There's a quote I can't retrieve about music, which says in nutz that, you'll never ever be able to describe it. Because the emotions can be of a complexity you won't ever experience in everyday life. I'll never be able to express precisely how I feel even if I'd come to know all the Logos of the world, by listening to this, & it doesn't matter, for music, is to my delight indeed. My thanksgivings to all them musicians of the world.
Just stumbled upon this comment and I wanna let you know that i get it. I cant describe it either, but i know exactly what you're talking about. Totally get it. Thank you for this very profound comment. I'd like to add my opinion: To me, the original version had everything going for it that screamed "innocence". He was younger, in shorts and shirts and sandals. He looked like a greek god and had very innocent facial expressions. Every word that came out of his mouth felt like the first occurrence ever. It was just pure. This version, although technically sound, does not have that innocence anymore. The expressions all seem like rehearsed (there was nothing rehearsed about the first one).
Gorgeous voice, interpretation, technique. Classical 'statue of David' looks but something's blocking his volume, breath, diaphragm oomph that Jaroussky has for me.
