Jakub Józef Orliński. So natural and beautiful. And the characterisation he brings out with his expressive eyes and mouth is perfection. He personifies the story. Wonderful!
Jaroussky's voice comes from a different planet, from the outerspace, unhuman pure sensitivity and beauty; Orlinski is a natural, he breathes each note and each word, and embodies Vivaldi as if it was easy. I really love both.
This is not a fair question and never is when listening to excellent artists. There is so much at play in the different versions that it is only a matter of taste rather than a comparison of skill. I prefer Jaroussky for the depth and timbre of his tone as well as the tempo of the performance. Other people's ears hear it differently, therefore they are drawn to a different performance. They are all wonderous and a gift to us.
The others sing the song, Orlinsky lives it, seems to be composing or improvising following his inner emotions and feelings. He inaugurates something different every time I hear it. In this aria, his inner self seems to suspend itself from the world. He is in Bergsonian duration.
All the singers are amazing, butJakub Josef Orlinski has a natural magnetism and the beauty of his personality and voice are enchanting, not emanating pride or pretence he is fascinating and great talent.
Jakub Orlinski by a very long way. His voice is one in a billion. The voice of an angel with the body of David. One of the most beautiful human beings ever.
I think Jakub has started a new era on the countertenors' stage by retaining his masculine voice colour and still being a countertenor. Beautiful! By using the perfect combination of the head and chest voice flawlessly, he has become a revolutionary in the world of countertenors. He does not overuse vibrato, his vibrato became an artistic tool to add some colour, not only to relax the vocal cords. He knows that the highest quality of diction is paramount for top singers. On top of that, despite his success he remained a nice, humble and hardworking human being whose work may inspire others.
Orlinsky - it's an arie for a man. His voice sounds absolute natural and he almost lives every note in a unsynthetic way - pure music in an unobtrusive form.🥰👍
All of them are elite in skill. The difference between Orlinski and the rest, though, is his mastery of chest and head voice. There is 0 transition as his ability to change between the 2 is ridiculous. Then there's his intelligent use of vibrato. When you're in an emotionally vulnerable state, your voice starts to shake. Orlinski's vibrato points in the song portray a heightened emotional state that sounds more like someone who is actually sad and vulnerable while speaking to you. The rest are just singing. Lastly, Orlinski is proficient in stress; the thing we learned in grade school about which syllable to put emphasis on. He drives the stress points in his verses home. In my opinion, those factors are why he's my favorite. I wrote this while listening to Jaroussky's version, since a lot of commenters like to compare the 2. I don't hate his version BTW. Orlinski's version is just my pick. P.S. maybe another reason why I pick Orlinski over Jaroussky is that Orlinski is better at pronunciation. Jaroussky pronouncing "vedro" as "vedru" kinda irks me.
Everyone is doing a great job here! Beautiful voices singing very well but i could pick one, would be Orlinski...he touches my heart! Very melancholy! Bravooooo 💝🔥
I like Orlinski, Dessandre and Jaroussky because of their sensitive interpretation and excellent musicality. But, again, I have to say that Jakub Józef Orlinski is my favorite. The color of his voice is very warm yet incredibly lyrical. I his interpretation seems the most intimate to me.
Orlinskis voice has something undefinable that suits this music so well. He has a mellow timbre and doesn’t overdo the vibrato or sound operatic . While the others are all incredible I think his voice suits Handel best.
I love these "who sings it best" things. In this case, Jakub gets the vote from me. His voice is clear as a bell and soaring, just absolute perfection. Even my husband called out from the other room that it was beautiful (high praise from that quarter). I love Sonia Prina, but this is not my favorite offering of hers. Jakub it is!!!
Hey, everyone, Carol C. is my exquisitely discerning niece. How could I disagree (even though I was very taken with Jaroussky's delicacy and precision?) But what most interests me about these "contests" is not so much the rivalry as the pleasure of hearing such different interpretations by such accomplished vocalists-- and instrumentalists too.
@@carolrose6319 precisely, fitting label for such videos could be ''best interpertations of..'' instead of who sings it best which implies somewhat a rivalry
All the voices are very good in their own right; of that there is no doubt. Regarding breath control, Lea and Sonia did not sing the first long phrase in one breath. Not only did Manuela sing it in one breath, it was at the slowest tempo of all. Brava to her for that. I also liked her ornamentation. As for the men, there will always be fans of both. Philippe sings more sweetly than Jakub, who sings more robustly. Personally, I prefer Philippe, but in the end, it's all a matter of taste. I enjoyed all the performances for different reasons. Thanks for posting this.
Orliński's voice feels like dipping the whole body into the warm liquid....very rich and smooth, almost too comfortable to my ears. While Jaroussky's voice feels like soaring high in the sky, subtly expressing the sweet torment of love. I like Jaroussky.
All fabulous singers...BUT ... I suspect that Jakub produces the sound imagined by the composer and was the first performer I ever heard singing this piece so he is embedded...Lea has an advantage because I've always had a crush on her as her voice melts my heart (you must have heard her singing 'lo piango' by De Bottis with Cecilia Bartoli !)...Phillipe's voice has such purity which makes me look up to the high vaulted ceilings of cathedrals...the brilliant Manuela and Sonia have, for this piece, in my humble opinion, too much vibrato and I hear them more readily singing livelier faster paced works with panache...nonetheless each one is a remarkable talent.
worth asking? Orlinski. Style maitrise is astonishingly powerful as a passionate contribution to this repertoire, without any "strange" effect just to do it "interesting", as fashion baroque interpreters so often, unfortunately, since a long while do. Reflective, perfectly effective and elegant. Go on this way, it's a wonderful one
Jakub Józef Orliński i Philippe Jaroussky, to według mnie najlepsi wykonawcy muzyki dawnej ostatnich czasów.
these confrontations are so interesting, and the baroque and beyond host gives references to the recordings which sometimes have the name of the orchestra and/or music director. the name of the latter should always be given because it is sometimes him or her who creates the atmosphere. it is interesting how personal everybody's preferences, and how being a fan sometimes changes our way of hearing... sometimes a beautiful face does the trick! but it shows how much different personalities and interpretation brings even when a voice as such is not ideal...
Orliński, but much credit is to the orchestra - the most favourable accompaniment, in perfect harmony with the voice (and I don't just mean the pitch)..
from google translate The best performance, his voice and manner of performance penetrates the soul, this is my opinion (airstorm83: it's a present for the entire community to understand your thought :-) )
All of them so good and have something different to offer. But in terms of providing the best musical context to really hear every note and to be invited into having an experience of deep introspection and meditation of the sound and text is Jaroussky.
I love the comment section for every one of these kinds of videos. Just music enthusiasts, showing their appreciation and I get to learn from them. Thank you and Orlinski is my favorite❤️
Since I first heard this aria with Jaroussky, I am biased. But listening, compared to the other speakers, I stay with Jaroussky. His beautiful, authentic baroque dazzling performance was once again impressed. Subtlety, sensitivity, intimacy itself.

I don't who is the best but this one is like the signature aria for Orlinksy. I like him the best.
Totally agree!!!
Jakub sin duda!
I agree. I also like it at that pitch, and with less vibrato than some of the others

Jaroussky indeed 👌
The only objection is that Jarousky says "l'aRma" when it's "l'alma"
Alma means soul (in italianand spanish
Arma= weapon

Jakob is like listening to a Greek statue come to life and deliver a perfect rendition with a tone of liquid stone

i know some italian dialects/languages in italy actually pronounce the O as a U like genovese
Undoubtedly Jakub Jozef is the best... His ability to express and translate the song is exceptional ❤❤
Jakub jozef orlinski this piece is tailor made for him it suits him better than to anyone else💕💕💕💕
Philippe Jaroussky’s voice and interpretation are just heavenly.
Clarity! Unbealivable clarity!
Orlinsky es pura elegancia
ALWAYS Jaroussky for this aria. Been a favorite of mine for years. Desandre's interpretation is lovely though; love her ornaments on the da capo.
I think Jarrousky's ornamentation, phrasing, mesa di voce, tempo, legato, and high piano's are the best.

The first time l heard Orlinski was singing this very aria. I was quite fell in love with his voice so l am rather partial. Like his version.
Jakub Jósef Orlinski is my favorite singer for this piece from the Very First moment I heard and watched his interpretation!
jakub has an angelic quality to his voice nobody can match
Orlinski had the best accompaniment in my view, so I always listen to the Orlinski version. All amazing singers though
Jakub Józef Orliński is the voice of this song for sure
I like Orlinski, Dessandre and Jaroussky because of their sensitive interpretation and excellent musicality. But, again, I have to say that Jakub Józef Orlinski is my favorite. The color of his voice is very warm yet incredibly lyrical. I his interpretation seems the most intimate to me.
Prosto z nieba!!!! Cudowny głos Jakuba❤
I agree Jakub Orlinsky makes me feel the music in my ❤ but they are all lovely singers each in their own ways!💕
Jakub Orliński
Orlinski without question. Such a gift!
Orlinskis voice has something undefinable that suits this music so well. He has a mellow timbre and doesn’t overdo the vibrato or sound operatic . While the others are all incredible I think his voice suits Handel best.
Definitely Jakub Orlinsky. He is my favourite 😍
Philippe Jaroussky is still incomparable. Manuela Custer is a perfection as well.
... goodness! They all brilliant! ... But just can't stop listening to Jakub...
... and one more to consider - Cecilia Bartoli. Also magnificent!
Jakub Orlinski. His voice is soft, warm and soothing.
Adoro❤
Every singer has his own interpretation, so the idea of "who sings best" is just a reflection of the listener's preferences.

I like all of them! Some, like Jarousski, are simply perfect, but... The most I FEEL with is that from Orlinsky.
Jakub Orliński definitely👍 genuinely pure baroque ormaments are amazing ❤️
I agree with you ⭐
Lea Desandre is amazing as well. Her interpretation is great 😉 but Jakub takes the 1st place 😁

Jakub ! Well done for making this video ! This is my favorite aria 🥹💜
Orlinski is unbelievable.
In my opinion, the orchestra has a great importance here, it plays a role in expressing the emotions better. JJO's orchestra is magnificent.
Jakub, always Jakub😍
The voice of Orlinsky is so angelic so beautiful for me so far the most beautiful
Jakub Josef Orlinski hands down - like a gift sent directly down from Heaven.
All of them are very good, but Jakub Józef Orliński has a voice and a emotion touched by god.
J.J.Orliński the best
How beautiful they all are.... Asking which is 'best' belittles the richness of variety these performances provide. A joy to hear them all.
No doubt Orlinski he truly understands the pain and hope in Vivaldi’s music
It's not only about the singing, but about what comes across. My favorite is Jakub! Angel-radiation!

Gods and the angels have blessed Orlinksi with a voice full of emotion and beauty. What can be nobler?
Orliński, no doubt! 👏👏👏👏👏
Orlinski's "off the cuff" version for France Musique is still the sweetest and the best.
the one where he is in his shirt and shorts.. such casual dress but what a performance!! So sweet and sincere :))
