Thank you for these new alternatives to "customizing" different crackers. I've love the "Dilly Oyster" crackers for almost as long as I've been alive. Just the dry ranch dressing packets/or homemade is good with the oils and added dill weed. The ones I've made go in the oven on cookie sheets... I think it helps with the oils that go into the mix... kind of helps the crackers absorb the oils better and "cooks" it a bit and just makes those crackers that much better and crispier?? Maybe something to try with the ones you are making too? When you bake them with the oil on them it actually crisps up the cracker as opposed to adding any soggy content. Just a thought. Chyanne is just so pretty and sweet. So good to see her with you and participating. It's her family too. Great life lessons learned around your table no doubt. Hugs, Penny Sue
Sounds like a great idea! FYI- refined coconut oil doesn't have any coconut taste, that's what I use whenever something calls for oil but I don't want coconut flavor in it. 💝💝
Our oldest daughter made these when we visited her this summer. They are delicious! She made a cucumber dip with them. I thought I wouldn’t like either the cracker or the dip. But I ended up really liking them both. I’m not a fan of hot things nor cucumbers but that combination balanced out the red pepper flakes so well. I would love to hear recipes for more ideas using crackers this way, it’s something different, Thanks for sharing! Cheyenne is getting a little more comfortable with the camera..I love seeing you two sharing videos. Merry Christmas to you and your family Josie. I know you are gonna really enjoy those babies this Christmas Can’t wait to hear all about it!
New subscriber! If they got a bit soggy, especially the the saltines, couldn’t they be put in a warm oven for a bit to dry out some? I would be using salt free top saltines. So I think they would be good. I love oyster crackers. I have all the seasonings so that’s great. I’m guessing half the crackers could be used. I’m an empty nester. Could you make a sweet version? You both are too cute. I’m going to check out your older videos.
Hi it’s Chloe. Good recipes. My Nonknee is my great grandma and she calls them receipts like what a store gives you to show you paid.she says worsh for wash too. Anyway in Sunday school on resurrection day we made these and put bugles and coriander in them with the Ranch stuff. The bugles were to remind us of the shofar and the coriander the manna and the oyster crackers were the pillows they reclined on at their table but I didn’t see that in my Bible yet. In one batch we tried matza crackers because of the holes that were to remind us of Jesus getting beaten but the matza didn’t suck up oil and flavoring as well as the square salt crackers did. If I made them I would put in some M and M candy if I liked it but I don’t. I have been sick this week and can’t go out to sing to the shut in’s but next Saturday I might get to go to sing to some. I saw a lot of new homeless people on the curbs coming up to my grandmas this week. Maybe we could sing to them. We fill socks at thanksgiving for them but caroling might be helpful too. We could give them cracker bags if we wore gloves to fix it but if I were homeless I would rather have sealed food especially if tge kid giving it to me had been sick. Is Howie in bed when you film your cooking shows? Grandmas going to read a book called Nine Spoons. We are getting a hospital bed for my great grandpa tomorrow. He can’t pee any more. It’s making him really sick. Love you I really do.
You have such wonderful ideas to help others and to bring a little joy into their lives. What a blessing you are to this world. I am so glad that you mentioned the book Nine Spoons. I love books ( even children's books) and I have never read this one. This will be one that I check out to read to little Howie and Rowdy.
@@CedarCreekHomestead it’s Chloe. The Nine Spoons book is a Hanukkah story about children in a bad camp in Germany. We aren’t Jewish but Jesus was and he probably celebrated the holiday and grandma thinks we should know how he lived here. He was on earth before the time of this story though. It’s good to know things that help you to talk to people that are Jewish and are waiting for him and don’t know he already came once but will be back by to stomp out the devil. A better choice fir the boys would be the book we read today called the candy makers gift. A grandpa makes his granddaughter a shepherds staff out of candy and it became popular as what we call the candy cane. It’s fir older kids but if Howie sits on your lap sucking on a staff while you read it, he will like it. My dad made my fingers s train and moved then along the strings of words until I could do it myself. Boys would probably like following word trains especially if you let them shout toot toot at the end of each page. We have a library at grandmas house but we go to the library by the college too. That’s where I go to school at the lab school in the college. The grown up students practice on us. Isn’t that funny? I am out of school for two weeks I painted lamas today. We are practicing our caroling songs but I am still sick so might miss out again on going. My sister sings louder s d better than me but I sing with more feeling. I hope you are warm and have lights. I don’t mean to write too much. I write like I talk unless I have to print. If I have to print I don’t have much to say. I am getting picked up now and have to go. Next week I won’t be here at all because it is vacation for my family. Bye I love you I really do.
I think if you add your seasonings to the oil and mix together first, you will get a better balance of flavor throughout the crackers. I like this recipe.
I just made them and have not baked them. It's not needed, store in a freezer zip lock baggie on your counter top, with all possible air removed. It has absorbed all the oil. The enzymes in our salvia is what breaks down crackers.
Miss Josie ♥️ love how you share the home-made mixes! I think these are budget friendly as well. You, dear lady, are a blessing 🙏🤗

Great idea!
You both are so fun!

I like it. I have to be sneaky with the kids, even if I tell them they can't taste it. Howie was the way too! 😊
I know what you mean 😉💝

Thank you for the great ideas for holiday snacks...love your family

Cheyenne is pretty. Hiding her light under a barrel. Smile more, the camera loves it.

I love the firecracker crackers. I’m like baby Howie I don’t like goldfish crackers either😁❤
Can’t wait!
New title - Holiday season recipes, crackers. Cmon quickly as you just uploaded!!
Delicious
Spaghetti mix would give them pizza flavor. Also good on salads.
This is Chloe. Spaghetti seasoning is a great idea. I bet you could use a taco or chili mixes too.
That would be good too!
Delicious recipe. Cheyenne is such a sweet girl.
I've got some saltines that no one is eating so this will be a perfect way to get them eaten.
I think if you add your seasonings to the oil and mix together first, you will get a better balance of flavor throughout the crackers. I like this recipe.
We bake ours 15 minutes after they have soaked overnight.
You dont bake them afterwards????....and how bout butter instead of oil??(clarified)
I wondered the same thing..🤔
I just made them and have not baked them. It's not needed, store in a freezer zip lock baggie on your counter top, with all possible air removed. It has absorbed all the oil.
The enzymes in our salvia is what breaks down crackers.
May I ask how you store them? And open zip lock bag was what I was told before,( Open to air) ....that closing the bag caused the crunch to go away??
We put ours in bags and also some cookie containers that were self sealing. We shared them with friends and family during the holiday season .
@@CedarCreekHomestead thank you so much! 💞
💗
🙂🙂🙂
Your the first person I herd say rubber made not Tupperware 😊
What is old bay seasoning?
It is a seasoning that has some spice to it. Available at groceries in the spice aisle. That is the name of the seasoning
Switch oil for butter 🧈 so much better 😊
Somebody brought some hot ones to our church and they were HOT.
I like spicy but not so hot that it takes the taste off of your tongue. Blayde really likes HOT
I think it’s funny that nobody realizes you’re supposed to bake these. That’s why there’s so much oil in it.
