    I would argue the last scene is there to show that one can't outrun the Empire's oppression. Cass said he wanted to flee to somewhere warm and easy, and that is what he did. But even there, the stepped up oppression of the Empire found him. The reason he got 6 years and not 6 months was because of the change in sentencing mentioned at the ISB meeting (also known as the PORD), a direct result of the Aldani attack, and exactly what Luthen wanted to happen.

    I love the appearance of Wullf Yularen in this episode. A great link between the Clone Wars and A New Hope.
    Btw: Mon Mothmas discussion partner Tay Kolma is not another senator. He is a banker and old childhood friend from her home planet Chandrila

    Luthen and Kleya primary expectation with the attack on Aldhani was about a making an announcement to get the Empire to over react just by attacking a garrison. The secondary goal was the actual money and I believe they really didn't care if any survived and with the money. I also believe that Kleya is more committed than Luthen.

    This episode is a masterclass of doing more with less. As good as the advice "show, don't tell" is, I find that "show without showing" can even more effective and emotionally impactful. It rewards the audience for getting invested and paying attention. It avoids the risk of ruining emotional moments by depicting them in a less than believable or satisfying way. They didn't need to show Clem being shot or show his head in a noose. The lead-up is enough.
    This episode is also heavy on the tense, tightly-written dialogue which is oh so satisfying. Combined with great acting, it can tell you everything you need to know about a character just by their inflection and make you instantly empathize. Special kudos to Fiona Shaw. She delivers her lines as Marva with such heartbreaking, soft-spoken intensity. Much more engaging then some chaotic, over-budgeted firefight. This is Star Wars at its best. If only the prequel and sequel trilogies had writing and acting like this.

    I believe attacking the Stormtroopers in the square is what gets Andor sent to prison at the age of 13. It was mentioned in episode 5

      They were not Stormtroopers, they were Clone trooper on that flashbacks.

    Thanks, Trent! Thanks, Julia! 🕬 Tony Gilroy announced that the format is changing. This one, Episode 7, is meant to be an entr'acte. Episodes 8, 9 and 10 will be an arc. Episodes 11 and 12 will be a two-part finale. Season 2 is meant to make more time jumps, but we'll see if it has a familiar structure next year. #FandomZone #StarWars #Andor #DisneyPlus

    “Andor pulls!” Love this channel and the reactions! This is such a top show. Been having my wife watch we me when I rewatch each week and getting through Rebels with my son who is too young for Andor and not interested 😆

    loving these andor reactions, glad I found ya'll's channel through this show :) good to see more fans appreciating this great show. Defiantly the most nuanced and well written starwars we've had in a while. Wouldn't mind giving tony Gilroy a movie trilogy

      Thank you very much. Hopefully the series picks up viewship with the word of mouth. I’ve been talking it up to anyone who will listen. Would you have Tony do a trilogy set within this time period or do you think set in the pre empire/high republic or post empire era?

    • @Darkerthanblack247
      @Darkerthanblack247 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FandomZone I would definitely say something set in the old republic era just to see how he would handle the more mystical side of starwars, jedi/sith philosophies etc, lots of room to play around

    This episode is some of the best writing in all of Star Wars..... some who prefer "Pew Pew" and "Vrooom Shhhhkkk" or "BOOM!" probably won't like it.... but this is..... *fantastic*.

    Luthen is utterly ruthless… Kleya hasn’t gone rogue, Luthen wants Cassian dead. He was “desperate for Aldhani to work” - all the recruiting of Cassian was about was exactly that. It takes the total events of the entire season for Luthen to finally trust Cassian enough to “take him in” long term.

  • @G1Transformed
    @G1Transformed 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    34:50 Kleya Marki, Luthen's assistant, might be working on her own, and she might be the real head--she reprimanded Luthen for using his radio the night before the mission, but maybe she was trying to keep him from getting caught. I think she's Luthen and Saw Gerrera's go-between, and we all know Saw play's dirty. I think Luthen isn't willing to go as far as Saw, his chameleon lifestyle leads me to believe that Luthen is someone who prefers to stay in the middle. I see Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrera on opposite ends of the spectrum as we saw in Rogue One. I don't think Luthen wants Cassian dead, he put his own life in danger to get him. I suspect that he won't like what Kleya has done once he catches wind of it.
    Kleya might have been sent to meet with Vel as Luthen can't be seen doing anything out of the ordinary, he needs to keep his cover intact. Kleya is a nobody, so it's much easier for her to slip in and out of plays, though still dangerous. I swear, the actress playing her, Elizabeth Dulau looks a lot like Carrie Fisher in those scenes we saw her with her hair down. We probably won't see young Princess Leia or Luke Skywalker ever again, but if that was still on the table for these prequel Disney Plus shows, I think we missed an opportunity with this actress.
    I love what this series is using with underused characters. Mon Mothma is getting some much needed screen time and she is standing out!

    Mon Mothma is so goood in this episode, she stoles the show every time she appears, that seen was just brilliant, deserves an Emmy.

    I'll be very disappointed if Andor doesn't get a pile of award nominations, the dialogue alone must be worth at least an award or two... :)

    Not sure if you caught it, but "Keiv" (Andor) was arrested directly due to what he did on Aldahni, they were cracking down and lengthened all prison sentences

    I'm still confused who is the boy that charging the stormtroopers in the flashback 21:42? In Andor's flashback earlier he is already an adult.

    • @FandomZone
      @FandomZone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought it was Andor originally. I think it’s a boy standing up against the troopers at that time given the context of Maarvas point and showing the rebellion has started in Ferrix

    • @colleybri8912

      @@FandomZoneIt is Andor… he’s shown in the flashback earlier as an adult from the front but a teen from the back. This is him, and is obviously the “assault on an Imperial Officer” ( from the rap sheet in episode 2) that lands him three years in juvenile detention (mentioned in episode 5). . Both flashbacks are a clever way of suggesting how he still lives with the trauma of what happened. It’s why he’s so reluctant to stay and fight here… rebelling has brought nothing but pain for him. But he’s also so proud to be indirectly called “brave” - the poor man is so torn.

    Syril: "There's corruption and laxity in the corporate authority!"
    Syril's new boss: "Well how about we manipulate your record so nobody questions you getting this job"
    Syril: "That's cool, I have no issues with that at all."
    me: "and this is why you suck Syril"
    also Deedra didn't even break the rules, she was the only one listening to Yularen at the meeting at the start, they were given more powers, so she used them.
    i'm pretty sure the bit with Cassian attacking the troopers was how he ended up in prison the first time, he's only ever mentioned it in passing to Luthen but he said that as soon as he got out at like 16 he was thrust into the war in Mimban (as a cook and a deserter, not a soldier though), but we saw he was young when that happened and it lines up with what he told Luthen.

    • @FandomZone
      @FandomZone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good pick up with the prison for Cassian. And yep Deedra paid attention and got the reward. As soon as the emergency powers were declared she took her shot. She’s still connecting dots and links even within her department policies that others aren’t
