    Didnt realize this until the 6th rewatch but when Magneto says "Please do not make me let you down" he was using a double entendre because he meant disappointing their expectations but also that he couldve killed them by letting drop back down to earth. Such good writing from a show long missed.

    I always love seeing your comics in the background for each occasion. This show was been awesome so far. The details have been spot on. Storm loses her powers then is startled by lightning. The council shakes due to the cold being up so high. It's touches like this that take a show to the next level.

  • @bryce253

    Two things I loved about this episode... 1.). They continue to be dedicated restoring the damage FOX XMEN did to Storm's character. It was like they are saying, "Ok... THIS is Storm FOX XMEN!! Now that re introduced you to the Omega level mutant, let's get to showing you why she is one of the best characters in Marvel by taking you through one of her most epic character arcs. If you thought she was a badass goddess before......yoouu juuuust waaaiiiit!"
    2.). The tongue in cheek joke of having Jean faint as soon as she is revealed. 😂😂😂😂. HILARIOUS. Only people that are true fans of the original will get that deep cut. Nathaniel Essex!! You're up!!!

    I like that they are going through the Trial of Magneto arc. To me, it feels like a nice callback to the first season of the show as well; Beast spent most of the season in jail awaiting trial, deciding to argue his case in court. (in the end President Kelley just gave him a pardon)

      Ye but also the 90s series wasn't completely following the comics like dark phoenix saga ending and we can actually see assumed Madelyne actually using Jean's powers and prob for a long time too. My guess is since they don't wanna do the whole fantastic four finding jean deep in the ocean storyline I think they are just gonna cut it short and turn into this.

    The only problem I have with the idea of Jean being the one at the door is the fact that Jean had to use the Cerebro. Maddy is a copy with no powers. So, unless Sinster replaced her at the hospital, which I doubt as she would have went home after birth. Or they totally rewrite the story and give Maddy powers.
    As far as Rogue; I know that didn't do this storyline yet, butI can't help think back to Magento and Rogue's time in the Savage Lands, where she fell in love with him. This of course leading to Age of Apocalypse where they were husband and wife.

    • @awesimo4684
      @awesimo4684 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Well sure they've changed a lot. Jean was "dead" in the comics and Maddie never thought she was Jean, and neither did Scott. In the comics, I guess Maddie having the same powers as Jean as well as looking like her would have been a bit too suspicious to ignore.

    • @DD-pi1ks
      @DD-pi1ks 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      They are definitely taking liberties with the Madelyne Pryor storyline but honestly I think the changes are for the best. The original comic storyline didn’t paint anyone in a very flattering light, especially Cyclops. I do think for this condensed storyline, having Maddie believe she was Jean and be her exact copy will play out much better and much more tragically than the comic.

      We also don't know when Madelyne replaced Jean. It can be recent,right after dark phoenix saga or in between phoenix sagas. I think she was probably using that costume as Jean for a long time actually.

    • @leeharrison8222
      @leeharrison8222 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m actually starting to think that the real Jean Grey is first introduced into X-Men 97 when pregnant Jean (likely Madelyn Pryor) is using Cerebro to enter that guy’s mind. Pregnant Jean (Madelyn) suddenly gets startled-something about someone else being there, detecting an intruder that we are meant to think is Mastermold. But I think the intruder is the real Jean Grey who appears suddenly in her blue & orange X-Men uniform, not pregnant, and she’s floating around wondering whose mind she is in.
      Madelyn needs assistance from Cerebro to enter the guy’s mind but the real Jean Grey, an omega-level mutant, can access the man’s mind without the use of cerebro or any device.
      In the comic books, I remember that both Xavier and Jean could astral travel as part of their telepathic powers. So I think that’s the real Jean Grey showing up in that guy’s mind. And at the end of the episode 2, I think Jean has come to find the X-Men to alert them that she has seen a vision or mental blueprint in that bigoted guy’s mind of a mutant extinction at the hands of Mastermold.

    I don't see the doctor's choice to not deliver a mutant baby as bigoted.. It's a legit concern for everyone in the hospital and themselves potentially, he was explaining it even and you dismissed the concern. They have to be concerned with everyone there, not just 1 patient. That's what makes the writing so good is because it's not just blind hatred, there is actual concern and consequences for both sides.

    • @leeharrison8222
      @leeharrison8222 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I was ready to disagree with you, but I read your comment thoroughly and at the end I can see you made a valid point.
      I would add this, though: one could argue there is bigotry in a hospital or its staff refusing to serve a mutant member of their community without making sufficient effort to incorporate evidence -based safety protocols into their clinical practices, so that their hospital can serve ALL patients whether they be human or mutant.
      When I first watched this episode and saw that scene in the hospital where Jean us refused prenatal care in a critical time of need, it immediately brought to mind the 1940s and racially segregated hospitals in the U.S. If I recall correctly, Jazz(Blues?) singer Billie Holiday was in a bad car crash, and she died from bleeding out as she was being driven to a hospital that treated ‘negroes’ at the time because the nearby Hospital refused to treat Black people, even though she was in critical condition and hemorrhaging blood. So for me, I felt like the main purpose of this scene was written into this episode more to add to the sense of marginalization, exclusion, and (sometimes willfull) ignorance that mutants experience in the X-men universe, often to their great detriment.
      The concern about delivering a mutant baby as a medical concern could also come across a bit like the prejudice against gay men in the 1980s at the height of the HIV epidemic where people did not want to come into proximity to a gay man for fear of possible exposure, even after the science came out and showed that the virus could only be spread through the direct exchanging of fluids. Thus these men were denied critical services, denied job opportunities and more.
      Again, I can see your point, but in a shared society - in a compassionate society - we would hope that our social institutions would do what they could to the extent possible to figure what needs to be done to be able to serve everyone in society, and not just the majority or privileged minority.
      And that’s what I love about the X-Men. It allows us to understand and contemplate various human experiences, and develop a sense of empathy in the real world. And it generates some really interesting Discussions and commentary 🙂
