The ideas expressed by Briggs in The Mandalorian "The Believer", pointing out the people in the village see the Empire and the Alliance as occupiers, not saviors. It doesn't matter who's in in charge. Andor is taking that concept and exploring even more. That's what I'm loving about this show

Notice Col Yularen's significant head turn when Major Partigaz says "Supervisor Merro has convinced me"

Great reaction, I really enjoyed your observations and speculation. Did you catch the names of the prison crew at table 5? One is Melshi, who is later with Andor on Rogue One.

Love how we’re getting to see the absolute oppression from the Empire in this show. It always sort of felt like a ‘boogeyman in the shadows’ type of thing where we’d always hear of the “Tarkin Doctrine” but would never really see it, but here it is, the Empire stomping the life out of everyone they see beneath them.

Wow- THAT is the best theory on what they are building I have yet to hear, and I hope you're right. How depressingly ironic would it be if they were in fact building parts to more prisons, living out their sentences providing a means for the Empire to hold more bodies for labor.

24:18 she looks so much like Carrie Fisher. She would have made a great Princess Leia for any prequel shows requiring her.

Thanks, Julia! Thanks, Trent! 🛠 Did either of you notice one of our protagonist's fellow prison-workers was played by Duncan Pow? He reprised his role as 'Ruescott Melshi' from ROGUE ONE. #FandomZone #StarWars #Andor #DisneyPlus

There are 7 men per table, 7 tables per room (49 men), 7 rooms per floor (343 men), 7 floors per raft (2,401 men), 7 rafts (16,807 men). 16,807 men kept under control with minimal guards and weapons, if you ignore the evilness of it, you have to admire the Empire's ability to control people.

All that with (at most, with the info referred) 588 guards... (never more than 12 on each level. 7 levels. 7 rafts. 588 guards)

Also it's 2 shifts. So double that amount of prisoners (33,614).
Plus every shift manager like Andy and the doctor and some such but those are insignificant. 33,614 should cover it

I’m sure a lot of people are saying parts for the Death Star, but for more prisons is so much more diabolical

I'm favoring Death Star parts if only because I enjoy the cosmic irony of Cassian being a part of both it's construction and destruction

For someone so in control and meticulous - Dedra did not want to take him in considering he has no self control; no common sense. Maybe she will in future who knows...to her He took 12 men on impulse to prove something over two corrupt dead officers and ended up getting more people killed. Then continue to take no accountability for all the officers he got killed/hurt. He is too big of a risk for someone so calculated and smart as Dedra.

I had absolutely nothing to do on Sunday (I didn't go out Saturday night so I did housework & yes; the 18yr me is sad for the 48yr old me) so watched all 8 episodes back to back. They passed by at quite the clip and it didn't feel slow burn at all. This show is even better than I already thought it was! Really can't see where Syril's storyline is going though. Why didn't he sign up for the Imperial Academy in the first place if he's that gung-ho for the Empire? Can't see the ISB using him when they have all the resources and (trained & disciplined) resources that they already do. I wonder if he'll end up in some sort of Mexican stand-off with Cassian and Dedra and he'll learn in the hardest of ways that the Empire doesn't care about anyone, only power.

The Empire is largely based on the Nazi regime and forced labour, much of it organised by Albert Speer (who really should have been hung at Nuremberg imo), was the fate of many POW’s, Jewish and Polish prisoners who faced death every day while keeping the Nazi war engine alive. Serkis plays a Kapo, one of many Jewish guards who helped keep order in concentration camps. A great episode, watching Andor quietly plotting his escape from a dehumanised workforce who could be one of millions of workers helping to build the Death Star. My guess anyways.

This is an excellent spy/espionage drama regardless of being a sci fi or real world show. Tony was given the bank, the largest production budget for a SW show and time, 12 episodes per season (BoBA and OWK totaled 13 combined episodes) by KK/Disney and she got out of his way and he's the show runner. Andor is not producing the numbers Disney was hoping for and I believe since KK has spit in the faces of SW fans so many times the fans are not tuning in. Tales of the Jedi was given a fraction of this budget and only 6 short episodes and yet the analytics will destroy this show. Tony is out for Tony and Dave is out for the fans and we see that in all that he does. Tales of the Jedi will show that the fans are still there but Disney will have to produce a product ( the stories, characters, action and music) that appeals to them.
