- Willie, Sarah and their dog, Jack Spaniels, continue their biggest adventure yet - leaving their suburban life and moving over the sea to a remote cottage on the Isle of Skye, off the west coast of the Scottish Highlands.
In this episode, the Skye Lifers continue to help new puppy Nori get settled into his new island home. The first task at hand, is his first visit to the dreaded vets..!
Jack Spaniels HATES the vets, but will Nori feel the same way..?!
Plus, we manage to free up some time to do some essential repairs, cook up some traditional Scottish comfort food and even have some much needed rest & relaxation!

Thank you for your video! I have a 6 mo old Jack Russell who is "out of control". I was ready to find him another family until I saw your video. Then i decided to "hang in there" a while longer. As you've shown me my Bucky is merely a normal, healthy puppy (with Genghis Khan tendencies😂).
@@scottieming6376 you should worry - not! My Cavalier humped everything in sight. Slippers, toys, discarded clothes. I've never had my pups destroy stuff though. I always gave then hide chews when they were teething. That's why they are chewing, they're teeth and gums are sore. At least they're not wailing like a baby does.
I love the way Jack gives Nori the occasional disdainful glare! 😍😍😍
Some videos that I watch on TH-cam can "run in the background" or I glance at as they play. But Living the Skye Life is a must watch from start to finish! Thank you for continuing to another great week!!

I think norrie has figured out that the wee step down at the door will contain whatever is being chewed on.
You can get away with eating some kind of greenery with stovies in public, just deep fry it first! Other than that it's comfort food so stuff the purists and enjoy.
Something like an old tyre on the gate stop would reduce the impact of the gate swinging into it
I had not heard of ‘stovies’ but I love all of the ingredients, so I’m sure they taste wonderful. Such fun watching Jack and Nori! As a dog person, and past fur parent of many, I definitely understand the importance of a relaxing, and much needed, massage, or just mini breaks from the chaos. Well worth it all in the end, though.
Another awesome video. You’ve inspired me to find my dream home in Australia, which I have! In the bush with a view of the hills, a verandah all around for me and my ginger puss cat to relax on, me with a wine. I’m moving in, in one month! Watching your chosen life reminded me that I wanted my dream too, and not another flip or ‘temporary, home. So thank you!

I found your channel a few weeks ago. I am now up to date and will be watching one a week rather than several a day lol. We visited Skye for the first time last May and it is just amazing.. Would love to be able to have done what you have but age, health and finances are against us so we are living it vicariously through you. It is great to be watching the videos and suddenly see somewhere I recognise. This channel also lead me to your other channels and Sarah's Etsy shop and I made my first purchase from there last week. It arrived yesterday and I am so pleased with it. It reminds me of our holiday and the fact that I want to return. All I need now to complete the memory is some coconut scented wax melts.......

My husband and I were staying at Skye over new year. We were rocked to sleep by the wind and rain in our van, best sleep!!!

You need a couple of licky mats and snuffle mats. You can make the snuffle mats easily with some fleece fabric and anything holey. I used a rubber sink mat (made to pad the bottom of hard sinks for glasswear) from a dollar store. You just tie strips of fleece to make the tendrils. For the licky mats I use a tablespoon of peanut butter some plain yogurt and a spatula to spread it thin then freeze them. Both of these will get you about 20 min of peace lol. For a bit older, dog puzzles work well or a plastic coke bottle with some kibble in it to chase and get the kibble out. Also two bits of cloth wrap a few kibbles rolling it up like a Swiss roll then make a cross x with your two rolls tie one in a single knot then wrap the other over the first and tie in a single knot till it looks like a big ball.
Guys we have 5 dogs and when our terriers were babies we had a doggie playpen, it’s bigger than a cage but it just gave us a safe place to put them as they were little bundles of chaos as all the same age. Needed it for my sanity. lol With biting you need to say OWWWW in loud high pitched voice each time Cos if he nipped at one of his sibling or mum they would yelp. It’s a way of letting him
Know it hurts. Teething toys will only do so much! ❤
Nori is a real cutie!!!! I giggled the whole time he was destroying the box. Glad he is settling in & I cant wait to see him exploring when he gets clearance after his shots. Love your videos. See you all "da da tada da" next week. 😊

Oh, this sure takes me back a few months when our pup was that age! Box mangling was his favorite... and he loved ripping small strips off the box to create holes! And "widdles on the floor" we called "happy pee"! While i am watching this, Cody is on my lap and he is hearing all the training commands you are giving Nori.... he keeps looking back at me, being very confused that he hears familiar words but he has nothing to "drop" or "leave"!
I love the snow in that last shots. Nori is adorable but boy are they ever a lot of work and attention. The setting at the massuse looked so relaxing. Hi to Jack, he's being such a good big brother. 😊🐕🇺🇲

I've been silently following your channel since your first episode. I started with your bottle digging channel (so fun) and then I subscribed to this one. (also very fun) My favorite part is the bloopers of course but I enjoy watching your life and living vicariously through you. I love how you give each other space and respect for each other's personalities. You've found the secret to a happy life. It makes for a fun filled, undramatic, joyful adventure. One of the joys of 'traditional' foods is that everyone has their own version of the recipe. Whilst I have eaten - and enjoyed, I should stress - stovies made with corned beef, your recipe is SO not how I make stovies! But is absolutely a dish for those cold and miserable winter nights. Good to see the little 'un stretching his legs - as well as the patience of his owners. Looking forward to seeing him oot and aboot.
It's 100% not stovies. It's Corned Beef Hash. Stovies are made with beef (leftovers).
@@McFluff1984 I think when it’s put on a roll it’s more like a Sloppy Joe. Every family had its own way of making a little meat go further.

So much fun with a new puppy. Just want to say to Sarah ... you have gorgeous eyes and your turquoise ear warmer makes them sparkle. My daughter has eyes that reflect the color she is wearing. They call them hazel eyes. I think you may have the same. Her eyes change from a green to turquoise to gray.

My Mum made storvies using dripping from beef and the jelly like stuff under it. Sliced potatoes and onions. We loved them. Kiwi kids with parents from Scotland

After seeing you putting PB in the Kong, I remembered we have a Kong somewhere around here so, thanks to the 4-legged Skye Lifers, our doggo had PB in her old Kong last night while we watched your video. Little Nori is smart as a whip. Your training is coming along well with Nori’s need to please. That kind of character relly helps. My Bernese Mountain Dogs too had that kind of amiable sweetness. 🐕🦺
I didn’t know that Mince and potatoes was a Scottish thing! I was born in Scotland and I did notice when we moved to the north east that it’s eaten with dumplings which is delicious but not something we did in our house. Haggis, neeps & tatties is still the king of them all obviously and with a dollop of HP 😋
Love this video! I actually love all your videos though. We’ve been so lucky. Our current and previous dogs are/were just about perfect. House broken in no time, destroyed nothing as puppies. My daughter says we can never get another dog because the “law of averages” says our next one will be a terror. 😂
Stovies!!!!! Absolute bliss. Every Scottish person has their own version. Nori is the luckiest pup to have a big brother and 2 caring hoomans to take care of him. Despite having 2 dogs and using Kongs, I learned a new way of using them instead of using peanut butter or dog biscuits. If you feed the dog kibble take a small portion of their normal meal allowance and let sit in water for a few moments to soften. Drop that into the Kong to fill it and then pop into the freezer. My son’s puppy was a really chewer. I had 3 kongs on the go for her. And yes my dog felt left out so had to have one as well to keep the peace.
Pups are like little babies teething on everything to help their teeth work there way through their gums.

Did you know your dogs names combined make Jack-a-Norrie, a favorite childhood story program of mine, you could do children books on the adventures of Jack and Norrie as they sure do have fun. Also I think your wheelie bin fenced area could be called a wheelie bin store or pen or enclosure but you could go all Wild West and call it a wheelie bin corral or stockade 🤔😂

We have 2 dog. We always have had 2 but theres been about 7 years between them. the last one Maggie was 14 when she developed cancer. That left lexi aged 7 alone . she's never been the only dog . Ive never seen a dog do depressed so about a month after we got another . We found the older dogs aways taught the younger ones how to behave. But you have to let them sort out the pecking order and it does mean a few growls and the usual teeth showing. The new dog has never been scared o f the cat. So they fight and chase each other nothing too serious. The old dog gives up her place in front of the fire if the cat gives her the look

We make stovies wi square steak slice, tatties,carrot,turnip and onion, oxo cubes, steak seasoning and when cooked altogether we add a dash o broon sauce. never corned beef. We like to make corned beef hash wi grated scottish mature chedder oan top.

You should start cage or playpen training Norie for yours and Jacks peace and he will then be used to it, our puppy hops into her playpen now and the door is permanently open she just knows that's her own space.
We had a crate for Nori from the start but it’s just got a tiny bit too small now, so we’ve moved onto a pen 😊

I think most dogs are fine at the until they get something unpleasant done. For one of my male rescues it was having a blocked gland in his nether regions, after that it was trying to get a 31/2 stone staffie cross who was playing possum into the waiting room. I think Nori has grown in a week! Jack seems more relaxed

These always make my Sunday morning! I ADORE stovies. My wife had this habit of sorting mail and magazines while sitting in a big chair. She’d drop the mail and magazines on the floor beside the chair for pickup after. Our pup changed that habit. Shredded mail and mags everywhere.
That bit in the morning with Jack, Willie, and Nori on the couch, Jack was having a massive pout, it seems. Poor lad, he’ll love Nori more.
Aww yeah Jack had a bit of a grumpy few weeks when nori first arrived, but he’s come around now. We make sure he gets lots of alone time with us and attention too 😊

Loved the stovies! Since I’m not Scottish (I know, sad…) I might try them with cheese on top or maybe with cheese on top in the oven for a bit… Still a bit of winter to experiment with comfort food 😊
Love your videos! I think you should invest in a body harness for Nori instead of a neck lead, you have far more control while being much kinder for your furbaby.

Oh Willie - NE Scotland will tell you that Stovies are only made with left over lamb! Mixed with onion and potatoes and served with sliced beetroot and oatcakes. And no chicken stock! What you essentially made there is corned beef hash - tho I always add baked beans to my corned beef hash.
I'm an Ayrshire lass and never came across Stovies til we moved to Aberdeen.
Everywhere in Scotland seems to have a different recipe!
@@livingtheskyelifetbh I’ve experienced most areas areas of Scotland and only ever came across Stovies in Aberdeenshire - definitely not a West coast thing. Always had them made with lamb and served with pickled beetroot and oatcakes - even at a wedding reception!

The grey tool is a post pounder. Good for posts, smashing metal pickets in and squashing your cousin fingers off the post because they didn't move fast enough. She was so slow, it couldn't be avoided! Pups are looking like they are having more fun together On hot days, I plug the hole up with peanut butter then fill to top with cold chicken broth. Seal second end with more peanut butter, place upright in cup in freezer. overnight it gives them a cool treat to occupy them on those hot day outside. Love to all 4 of you! Anne 💜💜💜💜
