Guys that was superb and as tight as any version of Old Home Place I have ever heard. I've played that song perhaps 300 times over the years but I have NEVER heard it with as much love and enthusiasm. Strong work. Love the harmonies. The fiddle was incredible . Mandolin and Banjo solos were spot on. Great hearing it before this Shabbos. Really set the tone. My only regret is I wish I could have played my Dobro with you! Sadly, no playing until COVID is done :-( Jeff Goller, Charleston, SC.

Where the fiddle player and mandolin busking in Jerusalem about four years ago? If so I played guitar with you for a short while.

Wonderful. Heshim would be happy to unite 2 different cultures, southern "hillbillies" and Jewish but I'm sure there are plenty of descendants of Abraham in the blue grass country as well.

They are wonderful instrumentalists, but their American accent makes the Hebrew slightly incomprehensible. But I´m still grinning to hear a prayer in Bluegrass style!!!!

Sanctity in bluegrass wow I thought that there be more respect for prayers. Musically they are good but they need new words to base their fun on

isn't it the spirit that gives the words of prayer their meaning and value?
if it is offered from the place in the heart dedicated to commune, any music, played as these folk play, can glorify and lift prayer very high. I hear no disrespect, just love. shabbat shalom

Psalm 5:11But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

The Hebrew word 'Kavanah' describes one's heart intention or direction when davening or praying in any way. I've seen many pray using traditional shul melodies that were very rushed, with no apparent Kavanah. I assume the best Kavanah of these young people as they sing these traditional words. The Diaspora Yeshiva Band (I still have all my original vinyls) did this sort of thing 45 years ago, and it was welcomed in Orthodox circles.

@@messengersmessianicjewisho1058 shut up coloniser. You don't get to lecture jews about our own traditions.
And you, @Elliot Portner, these folks are more in tune (heh) with both the spirit and letter of the law than you. Jewish culture isn't supposed to be so dour and melancholy; we're SUPPOSED to sing, joyously, praises to HKBH. You're the one who is out of line here.
